Well, we can't even cheat properly so I don't know why I expected us to be competent in defending and appealing the charges.

The biggest shame for me as it appeared for the first time in a long time we had a really good spine of a team for a few seasons to come.

Our players will want to get as far away from this mess as quickly as they can, and who would blame them?

Embarrassing at every level.

The club, if you’re listening, need to reimburse as a minimum all of the ticket, travel and hotel costs to all fans for the two play off games.

The EFL have made a mug out of multiple fanbases.

In what way? The only mugs here are us. We cheated, we got caught, we got kicked out of the playoffs. Apart from a handful of delusional Wrexham and Hull fans on Twitter thinking they might have benefitted from this one way or another, there’s really nobody else emotionally involved.

The final will be played, the winner will get promoted and we’re going to be left dealing with lawsuits from our entire squad who will rightly claim that the club have robbed them of potential PL football (and its associated pay rise).

So yeah, we were incompetent then. If that KC bloke can't get us off, then we must have done some serious shit.

There is a lot to come out in the water here, this isn't over yet.

The people involved in this has ruined the name of this football club and dragged our fans through the mud. The EFL have made a mug out of multiple fanbases.

The only winners in this are Boro.

Last time Boro were in the PL they were embarrassed, right? Same again please.

This 'due course' nonsense from the EFL needs to be NOW.

We deserve to understand the severity of what has gone on here, as our entire club has been destroyed and we really need to understand exactly what we've done. Don't sit on this for months.

I wonder if there is anything in our Sponsors deal which means that bringing their names into disrepute means contracts are cancelled and repayments have to be made?
Meantime absolute silence on the Saints website.

I’d happily contribute to a huge ‘Steve Gibson wanks dogs off’ tifo if we play them next season.

That said, I’d want to be sure of the legal implications first.

There isn't, they've released a load of nonsense.

Southampton Football Club has this evening been informed that the EFL’s League Arbitration Panel has upheld the sanctions imposed earlier this week. As a result, the club will not participate in Saturday’s Championship Play-Off Final.

This is an extremely disappointing outcome for everybody connected with Southampton Football Club. We know how painful this moment will be for our supporters, players, staff, commercial partners and the wider community who have given so much backing to the team throughout the season and we apologise once again to everyone impacted by this.

While we fully acknowledge the seriousness of this matter and the scrutiny that has followed, the club has consistently believed the original sporting sanction was disproportionate, a view that has been widely shared by many in the football community over the last 24 hours.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to our supporters for the support, patience and loyalty they have shown throughout an incredibly difficult period. We will share information as soon as possible in relation to ticket refunds for those who bought tickets to Wembley.

Southampton Football Club has a proud history and strong foundations, but it is clear that trust now needs to be rebuilt. That work begins immediately. The club will reflect carefully on the events that have led to this point, learn from them and take the necessary steps to move forward responsibly.

While tonight is a painful moment, this football club will respond with humility, accountability and determination to put things right.

Don’t expect to hear from Saints anytime soon about anything. We’ll dither and dally as usual. They should really be refunding us for the home and away leg against Boro, but I won’t hold my breath.

If Eckert and his fellow rule breakers are not sacked tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest, it will show even more weak leadership by the owner.

Swift action is required to mitigate the damage which will take a long time to repair.

After 4 exciting months, its all been ruined in a matter of days.

Sad, gutted and angry.

Won’t be renewing season tickets I don’t think. Not until this ownership has gone.

Going into summer with no coaching team, a DoF that’s probably toast as well. Then the players will all be on phone to agents tonight and we will have Bazunu back in goal.

getting relegated next season

who in their right mind of any quality signs to play for this club now

Good luck Hull. If there's any justice you'll beat those Boro shysters. Just wear them out for 20 minutes then the game is yours.

Nah... Will be much more amusing watching Middlesbrough suffer in the Premier League and for Gibson to have to mingle with chairmen and CEOs of clubs with much longer cheating charge sheets than Saints...

"supporters will expect some of those changes to start soon"

I expect them to start tomorrow. With sackings of everyone involved in this mess

I think fans should be questioning the season tickets.. we’ve been cheating and we’ve been cheated. Absolutely fucking disgraceful

Agree 100%. I don’t just want my Wembley money refunded, I want last Tuesdays and all those who went to Middlesbrough should get their tickets and travel costs.

They need to start making their peace with supporters NOW !

Some sponsors have already given club notice of terminations today. More to follow I'm guessing

They're incompetent, don't trust them to do anything. I wouldn't even trust them to put us in administration correctly.

If their defence was really as loose as ''Tonda didn't know the rule existed'' and ''Well, Leeds got a 200k fine'' and ''Well, Chelsea only got fined £10m" then it's an utter joke. We have pulled Chelsea, Luton, Eastleigh, Hull, Leeds and Derby into our mess. We have put a stain on this club which will never leave us. Not just because of what we did, but because of how we've seemingly tried to weakly wiggle ourselves out of it by bringing other clubs into it.

This is going to be a quagmire of a summer for us. I feel for the players who have given everything to get where we finished, blood and sweat, and the fans who have been left to carry the can for this for eternity.

It is what it is. I'd love to know the true story about what happened but that will take some time to emerge from the bushes.

Enjoy your summer everybody and thanks for all the best wishes. Only one thing to hope for now and that's a thumping Hull win on Saturday.

So, Aston Villa win the Europa League... Anyone remember that 'sliding doors' match that we lost to Villa, before which we were on the up and they were on the slide...? Funny old game...

I could've taken being beaten by Boro over two legs, or losing in the final. I can't take this. Dragan needs to clean the decks tonight and start again. It's obviously that the culture inside the club is shambolic and not in keeping with most supporters values.

Our time will come again but probably not for a few years and definitely not under this ownership.

We've had to start again nearly every season since the acquisition it's time for Dragan to sell up

This season was their last chance

Shame

after the fck ups of managers we’ve had, this seemed like we had a real gem on our hands,

and a team we could get behind.

This!

Just when we thought a corner was turned....turns out it was just the front drive to Andrew Mountbattens latest pad.

At least the players can piss off - we're stuck with Sports Republic. What have we fucking done in previous lives to warrant this!?

The whole situation is overkill. The sanctimonious moral self-flagellation is too much. Let's be clear, we haven't exactly stolen from charities or shafted creditors to the tune of billions. They've spied on training sessions since Tonda, and should hang their heads on the way out. No need for the guillotine.

Tonda, Spors and his analysts fucked up big time.

SR will continue to throw shit at a wall.

And here we are, the fans.

He keeps putting his trust in absolute basketcases. Can't fault him as an investor, he putsoney into the club, but my god he must have the worst judgement going. I expect to see Tonda and Spors gone in the next day or two.
