Some good points you raise there, over the requirements of the scouting network, and DoF (or whatever title is given .. DoF Operations for an alternative option). Probably worth a thread in their own.

In all this I’d like to know the extent of input from Darren Mowbray. He was credited with unearthing some decent players for Aberdeen, but (Fernandes aside perhaps, and who spotted him I wonder), the question now is has he lost his touch, poorer scouts on the ground, or are the selection committee ( including RM we believe) ignoring him ?

Seems an incredible change from the days when Ted Bates would reportedly make trips to Scotland to watch say, Jim Steele, and decide if he was up to it. Or Lawrie telling the board who he wanted.

Contrast this with the alarming stories from Bowen (Hughes assistant) of signing Elyonoussi, and that they didn’t want Vestergaard. Then the story that Ralph didn’t rate or want to sign AA. But the Reeds, Semmens and the like always know best. We know where that has led us.

Just to make it clear, I know Sulemana arrived before Mowbray’s appointment  so I’m not laying that fuck up at his door.

Where can I read the stories about Elyonoussi, Vestergaard and AA? Or were they just on the forum?

It was a video clip shown on here a week or so ago. I think it was taken from an interview Bowen gave.

Not sure which thread it appeared on, possibly Sports Republic.

Every time he appears I wish for something to happen, but in reality this guy does not have what it takes

He lacks application, dedication, and seemingly doesn't really believe in his own ability. Seku Mara had a better chance of making it with us.

I wish this guy well, I hope January brings him a chance to play football on a constant basis.

But please don’t darken the team sheet again. Be gone.

Just to point out, Vestergaard and Elyounnousi were signed with Ralph in charge. Sorry if i'm wrong.

Incorrect. Both were signed in the summer 2018 transfer window when Hughes was manager. Ralph was appointed in December 2018

That was my recollection as well. In fact, I’m pretty sure it was a Vestergaard fuck up that led to Cardiff scoring against us in Ralph’s first away match (lost 1-0 I think).

Never seen a more accurate comment. You would think at the price SFC paid he would at least have tried. It seems even with an infinite amount of time he will not get it. Seku was improving and with enough time might have made it.

sound like we could be seeing more of him .. hopefully juric can get the best out out of him ..tbh kamaldeen  seems like he’s lost confidence doesn’t seem the same player he was first year in prem or before his injury last year ..he used to at least skin players for fun but haven’t really seen much of that lately

What games were you watching that contained Sulemana skinning players for fun? Abysmal player not worth the repeated chances.

It's alright, Juric will find out by mid-January what this waster is all about.

Not worth a place on the bench, let alone the 11. I find it really depressing that SAA gets overlooked for this sack of shit.

He had one good game in prem against Liverpool when nothing to play for and one good game in championship against Leeds at home. Other than that, a complete waste of space. Same as armstrong in prem. May as well play with 10 men. At least Armstrong will be a decent squad player next year. He seems to have that arrogant attitude which is fine if you have the ability to back it up. He has shown very little

The thing that keeps him in any conversation is his pace, and his ability to beat a man on the transition '(on paper at least).

I am going to go out on a limb here and say i would not be averse to him replacing AA in the starting line up for a few games, see if we can get some of that confidence back, i know i know but we arent exactly smashing them in and i'd rather we go out on our shield.

Pace is all well and good, but if you don't have the technical ability to release the ball or the football brain to know how to use it, then you're pretty much just an athletic runner.

At least someone can foul him if he just runs, maybe a sending off etc

He will soon find out that he could field an entire team of wasters if he chose correctly.

Completely agree re SAA. I’d much rather invest time in him in the hope he extends his contract than persevering with Sulemana. Our management of both SAA and Meghoma was a further poor indictment of the wider club / SR.

With a bit of luck we will find some mugs to take the prick off our hands so only have to put up with him for about 4 more weeks .

Sure, it didn't get the acclaim of Field of Dreams, but I thought Costner was good in Field of Wasters.

His watching the spirits of great players of the past walk away from the emptying stands he sold out to corporate incompetents, played by Razzy winner R. Ankerson, was moving. Well, bowel moving at least. 🙂

Edozie is better at this IMO, though understand why he was let out on loan

and not for the last time either.  Although his enormous height may have looked impressive, he was useless with ball control (or lack of it ) on the ground.

Vestergaard  made more appearances than Hoedt ..(ouch) , but was little better as CB.

I actually forgot he was one of our players...

Lego wasn't playing him last season, there was no way he was sticking around this year to get no minutes.

I think Edozie will break through next season in the champ under a new manager.

To those saying the Liverpool game was his only good game revisit the second half highlights of this https://youtu.be/-VefVtwspw4?si=Dh9ano_Vy_0YdU77

he was electric that day and the decision making was decent too

  •

He also had a decent game against Leeds at home when we blew them away in the first half. I was hoping to see more of that for the rest of the Championship season but he was pretty poor throughout. Appreciate he had some disruption with injury and Russball didn't suit his style, but we really are clutching at straws if we think he's going to contribute much.

🚨 It will take an offer equal or close to the £16.8m [€20m] that was agreed with Benfica in the summer for Southampton to even consider parting ways with Kamaldeen Sulemana #saintsfc @SkySportsLyall

🚨 Ajax, Nantes & Genoa are among the clubs to enquire about Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana - but Saints are only willing to consider a permanent sale #saintsfc @SkySportsLyall

Sorry, we agreed a few of €20m with Benfica in the summer? Why the hell didn’t that go through?!

At the time Martin said “Whilst he’s not in my plans for the team, he’s friends with Jack and Wee Man, so we need to keep him around” 😜

That should not stop any team from buying a player, ever.  It's only common sense to buy injured players.  One day the rest of the footballing world will catch up with our brilliance.

Its all part of the Equality Act 2010 which prevents discrimination against people with disabilities or football injuries.

For those clubs to be interested in him they must either have not seen him play or be utterly deluded.

One reason why we should avoid putting him in the shop window.

Got injured in the Oxford friendly, which must have killed the deal. Benfica then signed left winger Muhammed Kerem Aktürkoğlu.

or they were equally impressed by what he was doing at Stade Rennes and think Saints are possibly the problem.

You are completely correct but potentially interesting if he has a bit of sustained success. We may then have to ask the question how much of his crap performances were down to Russ ball.

Do you think he was suited to the slow possession football Martin used? I don't.

Juric keeps playing him. Maybe we wont loan him out after all unless a requirement to buy is included in the deal.

He hasn't been shit just under Russell Martin though.
