I know nothing is over the line yet, but the last 24 hours have been thoroughly enjoyable, and encouraging.

Yet, 48 hours ago half the list were dissing Spors, Still, SR, the royal family and the kitman because they didn’t like our third choice keeper and therefore, from that, it showed lack of understanding, commitment or dedication.

I appreciate that half of those on here can do a better job managing, owning or purchasing than the current incumbents.  Could that half, please, in future, wobble their heads, control their bladders, hold back their irrational fear and shut the fuck up until they see or hear the full story.

Expect some outs at least today for sure.

He needs to complete the ins before he can be done with the ins, easy mistake to make spors.

If you want friends, telling the majority of people who have also spent thousands and more watching Saints to STFU probably isn’t the right way to go about it for a start.

And as @S-Clarke rightly says, all of the PL quality is gone, I enjoyed reading about of all the incomings last night and excited to see them in action.
But you’ve got no legitimacy whatsoever to post in this ‘told you so’ way until the club is re-established in the top flight, let alone promoted, and we’ve had a few transfer windows with more hits than misses. We’ve been in the top flight for all but 12 seasons since 1966 so yesterday was a step in the right direction but it’s a small step. And this division can bite you on the arse. Not to mention that we are just off of a season with only 12 points with the worst manager the PL has ever seen (now the SPL - not for much longer though). When SR get us back to where they found us and a bit more, happy for the victory bus to come out.

Willing to be patient but the goalkeeping area is still a risk in the view of 90%+ of supporters and there is ample statistical data to back that up. Now hopefully the incoming attacking talent means that pressure comes off the defence more and the new midfield screens them and the keepers better.

I agree with the sentiment that it’s best to judge when the window has closed and the dust has settled. The concerns in the GK area are valid, remains our weakest link. We have enough evidence that putting all our eggs in the Bazunu basket is very risky. Worries remain also about which of our strikers is going to deliver the goods but we do have plenty of proven championship goalscorers, just need to get them back in form.

All 4 linked signing from yesterday are exciting. Especially the 3 that look certain to happen. Really looking forward to seeing them play for us. Caspar Jander seems like a player that could be our next Fernandes type find. Azaz and Fellows are the proven quality we all wanted that should deliver immediately. We were missing creativity so bring in 25 championship assists from last season. Can’t really ask for more in terms of proven creativity.

Yeah, calm down with the open top bus parade.

Sport Republic acquired us in Jan 22 as a long standing, established Premier League team.

It will be not until May 2027 that we will see if they have managed to restore us to where they found us.

What's happened this week is great work but it basically what is required to achieve the first step of that aim.

So to use your exact terminology, how about you "shut the fuck up" until SR have managed to put Saints back to where they were when they bought them, as an established top division team? That's the whole story.

Exciting day yesterday but sometimes I lament the days of a small Echo byline 'Southampton have completed the transfer of ....', it avoided disappointment. Well except when the name was Frank Saul. A few on here will understand.

What little PL quality we had has gone. Replaced with decent Championship players. Whether any can make it at the top level remains to be seen. Got to make it back first.

Two positive points, the toxic losing mentality must be watered down now. Secondly this squad should, if necessary, be resilient enough for another push next season. As a fan base we probably need to come to terms with that.

Could be playing West Ham and Man Utd then though.

Credit where it's due, we 'could' be safe by March 2027 if all goes well which would be about 10% earlier.

Still a bit concerned that if Guehi leaves Palace (likely) that they may come in for THB. There may be a other twist in this window to come…

Nah. That's like saying I don't celebrate goals, I wait until the 90th minute and then judge.

Embrace the stupidity of the transfer window and go mental when Saints don't sign peak Messi in July, but kneeslide across your living room when we do sign West Broms second choice right back in August 😂

What an unbelievable downgrade that would be for Palace.

Cant see it at all, their transfer model is much better than that.

I'd double check the definition of 'irrational' before telling others to 'shut the fuck up' as you delightfully put it.

Based on recent experience in respect of recruitment, and noting our current 2nd tier predicament versus previous consistent top flight status, in what way is expressing concern 'illogical and lacking reason'?

Hopefully not. According to SSN if he goes they will buy two centre-backs, so they may not be thinking of ‘like for like’ replacement(s).

If they came up with £35m I would tearfully let him go.

I suspect I'm in the minority but I think although he's undoubtably a good defender I don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, and also annoyingly I think he's taken on Janny B's tendency to whinge and blame others for his mistakes and poor positioning (tin hat on).

Edit - That's probably the worst sentence I've ever constructed but you get the gist (too much thinking going on LOL).

I wouldn't be concerned about that as it would take a good £30m to shift him, and he's bang average.

If we're playing a back 4, and get a decent DM *, I'd be comfortable with losing THB for strong money. If we carry on playing a 3/5, we need him otherwise it's Bree and Taylor as back up CB's.

* As good as the German lad sounds, he's played mostly as a CM rather than a DM, so I hope that he is what we're missing.

Guehi will likely go as he's only got a year left on his contract. Such a shame for Palace after a great year and European football they're now having their best players picked off. We know that feeling.

According to Sky Sports they want to sign two, one first teamer and one YHGTIer, THB is somewhere in the middle, 3 years of first choice football but if he leaves will want to be a starter, which he probably wont be at this stage. He a bit further on than a YHGTIer. They're meant to be after someone in France for that role, They might come in for him but as others have said if we get good money and going for 4 at the back its a loss but not a huge one.

Stephens, Quarshie, Edwards, Wood. Still have a bit of cover before dipping into the full backs. Personally, I'd be happy enough with Taylor there in a 3.

I think THB is one of those that I wouldn't actively want to leave, but if someone will pay a good fee, it's probably not a bad sale.

Close but they paid £15.4 million for him. The record is £16m for Mike Tresor last year!

I had to google as I thought it was Neves as well.

I think most on here would agree with you tbh - right now he hasn't shown he's a PL quality defender. His best quality is probably his passing or the way he gets to the ball at attacking corners, when it comes to defending he isn't that strong or quick, nor does he read the game that well. I doubt Palace would go for him but if they do, selling is the one area SR have a rock-solid success rate in...

I'd go further. SR came in with promises to move us forwards and we've gone backwards. They've FAILED - why shouldn't we be angry about it?

While Spors might have almost got some very good deals over the line it doesn't look like he's going to fix our 2 biggest problem areas, GK and Striker, despite having signed players there. At GK no matter who we choose we have one of the weakest GKs in the division and we as yet none of our strikers have scored a league goal. Why shouldn't we be disappointed?

SR and Spors have much to do to prove themselves.

What on earth is wrong with these clubs. Did they not see the state of Southampton last year. We absolutely stank out the PL and were rightly dumped out early doors.

Yet they seem willing to buy the very same players responsible.

THB is a great player, love him and his attitude, but boy does he have a rebuilding job to do. I can't see Palace taking that much of a risk.

I rarely feel sorry for other teams, but Palace are being taken apart just like any other team that gets in that position.
