For someone who thinks they might get a management job in the Championship then watching the Man City kids (and our kids) is probably just a good idea in itself. There's probably some future loanees right there from both clubs.

It's just an added bonus that it winds up a few utter saps on here, rolling out their usual mentality of "i don't want it to happen so the club will definitely do it" wrist slit routine.

Why the fcuk has Cleverley shown up at all??  He has no ties with either club, and surely he doesn't believe it would help his chances to be appointed first team manager?

Because he’s a football manager who lives in Manchester I expect, why does it bother you so much?

Not sure of the benefit of going to an u21s match when the vast majority of the side is expected to be released in a week's time

It doesn't.... I just wondered why and asked for opinions.  Why does that bother you so much?

If you dredge the Internet for long enough you'll be able to find an article saying we're set to appoint Mick Harford.

Post the link up and shit yourself about that too.

Knowing SR it's more likely it'll br Mick Hucknell

If you're wondering then it's pretty common for football managers / coaches to watch matches to see players. So maybe he's doing that, absolutely guaranteed he won't be alone.

What updates are you expecting?

I thought the last word was that he would be at the game on Sunday. It's only Thursday. Are you expecting some sort of communication every day / hour to confirm he's still going?

Maybe a post showing which route he'll be taking in his pope mobile?

Is that a Nick Pope mobile? COT slacking on this one.

If I don’t get who I want I’m not renewing my season ticket, and, I don’t know who I want until he gets us automatic promotion and consolidates us in lower mid table in the premier league next season. I think the following season it wouldn’t be unreasonable to win a cup and qualify for a European competition. Come on Sports Republic, make it happen ffs!

Wonder who will have the binoculars trained on the Director’s box on Sunday? Will we see the attendance of not so Cleverly, will it be Will Still still or will Danny Rohl into town in a late bid to claim a seat, a champagne lunch and the keys to the Managers office? Your guess is as good as mine folks, but one things for sure…there’ll surely be a party to celebrate the last game of the English Soccerball Super League season.

(apologies I went all @Turkish there for a minute).

Hey buddy! You’re so right. It’s fricking awesome our final game of this series is against the London Gunners with goal minder Ramsdale able to show them Arsenal guys what they’re missing with several more impressive hand denials.

remember we are only a small franchise in this soccerball league but next season we should be able to get more ties and victories when we play non premier league ties I’m looking forward to watching us play the Glasgow Celtic hoops as I have big Irish family and they love the British soccerball championship.

if we can find some strong offensive players, a great coach and improve our wide receiver no reason why we couldn’t return to the EPL soccerball league for series 26/27 let’s Southampton Saints!

Feels odd to see you use the word "reasoned"... but I meant in relation to him being there if he was about to become manager of Saints' first team. In other words, it made little sense and for some not to be so easily dramatic

That's exactly why a Manager would go.  Jamie Vardy was let go by Sheffield Wednesday for free.

Cleverley is not managing a side. There could be many reasons for him to be there, including scouting or meeting associates.

it will be interesting to see where he goes. Another ‘Man Utd product’ along the lines of McKenna rather than Rooney!

I wasn’t sure if you meant as potential Saints manager or if referring to scouting players of just Saints or both sides.

None of us know how far advanced his talks with Saints are, if at all. If he thought he had a chance of coming to us,then he might be looking at City players, some of whom might be released.

If he isn’t heading to Saints but somewhere else (QPR, or even dropping down to Notts County) then watching players who might be released from either club could have been the intention.

On the other hand he might have just fancied a trip to a match, leaving his wife in peace to watch Chelsea Flower Show on BBC2.

What will you do?

He's just told you, Turkish. He's going to get a straw and break a camel's back!

Must say, Cleverley does sound inexperienced.

I was talking with a fellow committee member of a grassroots football team up here in the West Midlands last night who is a Watford fan. He'd heard rumours that Cleverly had been linked. I asked him of his opinion. He loved him, thought he was/is going to be a top manager and in his words "too good for Watford" and deserves better than their merry-go-round of managers.

Took them on a 29 game unbeaten run last season which I didn't know.

Just passing on a Watford fans view. Before anyone jumps on the attack.

Their longest run without defeat was 6 games.

He's only won 17 games in total.

Just a reminder that "what happened with Maresca" is Leicester won the league.

Late reply :) . Yeah they won the league but that’s as far as any benefit went. Him ditching them after getting promoted helps them no more then martin failing with us .. we both got promoted and both back in the championship maresca makes little difference now

Second half the season he lost 14 out of 23 matches, winning just 5.

There's no "unbeaten run"

Didn't we have interest in him in 2012'ish, him and Lambert up top ... 😌

It was almost a done deal so much so that a Fleetwood board member had told people Vardy was joining us  but Leicester nipped in and nicked him

Sparking Repartee is not your long suit is it.

I'm  sure you know a lot of Southampton fans blame him for injuring Van Dijk which then equates to us having a poorer defence in the League Cup/whatever it was called that year and losing to Manchester Utd when we think we otherwise would have won. So he's definitely persona non grata in this neck of the woods. A few other places too: who likes a striker who scores goals against your team often?

AAh yes, that infamous game where Jack Stephens gave one of the most potent strikers in the game at that moment all the time and space in the world to score the winner from close range. I remember it well!

While I do understand that, I can’t help but like him. In this era of football with teenagers being handed it all on a plate to them and wasting their skills because they’re multi millionaires by 22 and lacking any motivation, Vardy, while undoubtedly now a multi millionaire (with an annoying WAG) is a bit of a throwback.

It wasn’t handed to him in a plate, he was let go, part-time, and ended up winning the league, FA Cup and playing for England. And all while playing for and staying loyal to an unfashionable club.
He's not the most gifted and basically did it all through hard work and attitude. There’s countless more talented players than him who will never reach his level of success and even with all his success and money he’s still utterly committed in his late 30s, playing at the top level.

I admire both Vardy and Van Dijk in different ways, but I know who I prefer and have more respect for as a person.
