The tech would not allow me to copy-paste, so in case this link doesn't work when posted here, it's a translation of a fan comment beneath a Nürnberg Club TV interview conducted with Caspar. Like all of the 34 comments it's very complimentary, and it's one of 2 or 3 that say Caspar plays like Gündogan at the same age...

Fingers crossed!!

Based on what exactly. Are you really a Saints fan? Why so quick to slag off our players when they've been here only for five minutes or so?

To be fair this one did make me laugh. I can remember posts saying Mane was shit for the first 2 months he was here (and he wasn't good, but less than 3 months at a new club in a new league is no time to judge). We do judge a bit quickly here.

Video is 6 month old. Some of the comments beneath:

"The best player we've had in years. I really hope he stays with us beyond the summer. In a few years, he'll be our maestro in the national team."

"Hopefully he stays at least one more season. Great guy!"

"One of the best. If not the best! And ultra humble!"

Mane always springs to mind “never heard of him” “typical cheap buy” two games in booing at every mistake , anti Mane furor building online.

Again FFS Spors has been checking these players for months. Will Still would be checking suggestions over. If Still and Spors agree SR will sign off the deal. It’s quite simple. Whoever was running the club we were going to get relegated and they knew its was very likely Dibling and Fernandez would leave. We got good money for both of them.

its a long season plenty of time to improve and develop the new signings for the Premier League sit back take the emotions away. It looks good business part of Saints model and I’m enjoying this season already

look at the state of Villa, Man Utd and West Ham the money they have wasted much better being a Saints fan

He does look like he has a bit of quality about him. As do the other two we've signed. Lets hope it doesn't get trained out of them here.....

Aye, I was probably most underwhelmed last time by signing Fernandes but turned out by far the best of the lot

All 11 comments from fans of the club where he was on loan are glowing. The most comprehensive is:

"A really good footballer, two-footed, agile, nimble, great vision, also aggressive in duels, always available to pass to, ball distributor, like a Schweinsteiger in his best days, only better."

watching that video reminded me a bit of Anders Svensson.

A glowing tribute from a supporter of a former club, and expectations we’ve formed about this bloke.

I was hoping he’d bring a bit of a Schneiderlin as a DM but from what I’ve read that doesn’t seem to be his game. But I’m with Gio seeing an element of Steve Williams style in the videos.

Anyway if he doesn’t give a Williams - Schneiderlin hybrid performance v the Skates then it’s open letter time to Spors.

This lad could be the best of the crop and i think Saints have made a very astute signing with the potential for his value to sky rocket. If we get a couple of seasons out of him we will do very well.

Mateus Fernandes vibes. A little older, a little less hype, a little behind on the path (Fernandes had a year on loan in the Portuguese top flight before we signed him, Jander hasn't had any top flight experience yet) but the potential for a similar outcome.

The recent training video shows Caspar looking very good on the ball. Towards the ends he’s twisting and turning Jelert all over the place.

i wonder how we keep Flynn, Charles and Jander all happy?  Don’t expect any will be happy to sit on the bench.

If we play a 10, Azaz obviously gets the nod but with young Matsuki as his back up, it's possible one of the CMS could fill in there when needed - a bit like Steven Davis did under Ronald. I thought about AA playing as a 10 as I feel he could be largely overlooked this year (unless Fellows goes out for whatever reason and he plays RW) but that gave me "lack of creativity" chills.

I don't know if Will is the sort of manager that likes to stick with his first XI as much as possible or if he is a rotation fan but there are a lot of games this season so everyone should get their turn.

Pick the best two and the odd one out will have to fight for his place through injury, suspension or dip in form. Can't worry about players feelings as we need strong competition in all areas.

That could of course indicate that Jelert is crap rather than Caspar being good...

Ive never seen Flynn Downes nor Shea Charles do what Caspar did to Jelert. I thought fuck! When I saw that.

Shea is 6ft 2/3 so I give him benefit of the doubt cos for his size he’s a very good dribbler - and he has that athleticism and physical presence also. I’d say Flynn is more at risk than Shea purely because of Sheas size - even if Flynn is a little dynamo and best expert ball recycler in the league. Flynn never does one on ones. Thats not his game. His game is harassing off the ball and passing passing passing between defence and attackers ( though rather too often for some it’s from defence to him then back to defence ..)
Add in that Shea has previously been used to playing the quarterback holding MF in any case (Flynns job) - it means someone like Caspar may have opportunity to do exactly what he showed in training higher up the pitch - and Shea takes up Flynn role.

Random thought but I reckon Ronnie Edward’s can do the DCM job as well in extremis. He has the ball skills.

People seem to agree Flynn is the one at risk of losing his spot.

I did think Edwards at CDM was an option for the Watford game when Flynn dropped out ill.

He played there at times for QPR last season in the Championship.

I like the idea of having a bona fide dcm. We sometimes appear lightweight in middle of the park because we use a “ player” who can “defend” ( Flynn/ Will for example) there instead of a “defender”  who can “play”. ( like perhaps Ronnie ).
Now we have more specialist attackers/players up front the chance to install specialist dcm arises. We don’t need quite as many multitaskers.
