You’re just guessing. There wouldn’t have been any indication.

Any relation to Danny N'guessing ?

The way it worked when Hassenhüttl went was Selles had a couple of game as interim.

We installed Jones, sacked Jones in short order and went back to Selles.

The way it worked when Martin went was Rusk had a couple of games as interim.

We installed Juric, sacked Juric in short order and went back to Rusk.

This time we've got two wins from three interim boss. I don't know whether anyone else would have won or lost those games, but if the man and the players click, why on earth would you change?

He is still "interim" until he's not, but I do think it absolutely stupid to not keep on looking at his capabilities.

He's only in charge because he was in the right place at the right time. No other Championship would have remotely considered him so let's drop the pretence that he's good enough, cut to the chase and bring in someone better qualified to do the job. This is urgent and the fact that he's scraped two wins against poor sides should have zero bearing on proceedings.

Anyone else reckon we are waiting for Corberan? We had considered him when we went for Juric but like with Rohl the compensation ruled him out.

I posted this before and the timing certainly fits. I have also seen loose links to Leeds for him this week if they sack Farke but I’d be quite happy to let Eckert take the team until Corberan is sacked by Valencia, assuming it is as close to happening as rumoured.

Just trying to see the motivation for not going for an available candidate like Carrick/OGS and Corberan might be the reason?

Would be a hipster choice but for me, he didn’t pull up any trees at WBA, didn’t particularly rate they way they played.

WBA did have some ownership issues during his time there and the takeover only happened around the time we played them in the playoff semi final. He still managed to get them into the playoffs with very limited resources that season.

I’d agree they weren’t a great watch but quite an effective team with a very solid defence. Has plenty of championship experience.

Wonder if with better resources at Saints he might do well. Do also think his solid style would be a good approach if we went up.

Russell Martin schooled Corberan in the playoffs and he hasn't done well at Valencia. Not really sure what the attraction is myself.

Another name to throw into the ring is Jeremie Aliadiere. Would command instant respect, is 6ft tall and has the vital ingredient of Championship experience.

If enough of us mention him and ask for a Sky Bet price then his odds will come tumbling down.

That final 20 minutes against QPR was far worse. As a game plan to protect a 2-1 lead it was everything you shouldn't do. 11 men behind the ball hoofing it away and waiting for it to come back again with no attempt whatsoever to get the ball into the opponents half. A kids football team manager would do a better job. Eckert showed that he had no idea how to manage that final 20 minutes other than a backs to the wall desperate defensive set up which, more by luck than judgement, saw us hold out until the final whistle. That cameo rung huge alarm bells about his ability and he needs to return to the U21s asap to continue learning his trade because he is currently far from ready to manage at Championship level.

You clearly were at neither away game.  That Blackburn game has to go down as the one of the worst managed team's in Saints history!!  The decision to bring on Stephens will go down is history!

I don't want Eckert to get the job, BUT he had 3 days to prepare for the QPR game!!!!  I am sure he did not tell them the players to hoof the ball forward at every opportunity - that was down to players panicking!

So he can't get a message on from the technical area. Strange. 🙂

Hello Tonda, thanks for dropping in and taking the time to post, thanks for the two wins but off you trot back to the u21s to see how hungry their eyes are. Cheers.

Scheiße.

I joined this forum in 2006 when I was 13 und die world cup was in Deutschland.

I knew then that one day I would become interim manager of die Heiligen.

What about Potter? Only signed a deal initially until end of World Cup campaign and given Sweden are bottom of their group with one to play, could be someone we are waiting for?

Pretty sure Sweden are in the play offs anyway because of the Nations League. So he will manage them in those next Spring (and theoretically at the World Cup).

Ah ok didn’t realise. So you can finish bottom of your group and still qualify? Another uefa joke

Take a look at the table and how many games are left you plum! Get the right manager and promotion is for any clubs who put a good run together.

Couple of stumbling blocks in that sentence ;)

Martin hardly schooled him, he had a far superior squad of players.

I don’t think the new manager will be tondor because if it is for any reason the fans will protest and riot that’s why I can’t see if take ogs and carrick and spors did tell that Southampton FC Fan advisory board that tondor was only in the interm role I’m with the club losing as many as six staff members the new manager will have to bring in his own staff anyway

If I recall correctly, and I’ve no intention of checking, we had a bit of luck in the first game, some decisions going our way, they had no fit striker and one of their best players went of injured. We did well in the highly charged second game, but their chance had gone by then. So, as you say, no schooling involved.

On Corberan.....it would be very SR to be waiting on a manager to be sacked

Clueless twats

To be fair, if he is about to be sacked and you want to employ him, why would you pay the club about to sack him compensation to get him on board slightly sooner?

They barely had a chance over two legs and I believe Martin's record vs Corberan is that he hasn't lost any of their 6 meetings.

In the playoffs they were extremely passive, especially at St Mary's when it was still all to play for. We would have been livid to not show up in such a big game even if the opponent had a better squad.

Just don't see what is special about him at all.

Appreciate that, but thats not my point. It's waiting on a manager who is stinking the place out in his current job

And if Corberan is sacked, who says he immediately wants to move here? He might think, I am still being paid and enjoy being in my home country, let’s take some time off and review my options in a few months.

Fucking embarrassing.

Why? Do you honestly think I'm a SR employee trying to influence the fan base , it's 150 odd people on here that have voted  , you must have an inflated sense of the relevance of this forum, or do you think my post was fucking embarrassing cos I have a different choice of manager to you? I thought this thread was for people to give their choice of who they wanted as our next manager , who do you want?

I've read this forum and not joined cos it seemed full of angry people more interested in arguing and trying to belittle people with different opinions !
