Doesn’t matter how good we are in atta k when you’ve got Baz, Stephens and Manning in fucking defence!

While that’s true; let’s just savour the best half of attacking Football we’ve seen from Saints for ages.    Adam Armstrong, Tom Fellows, Scienza, Jander and Azaz all unbelievably good.   The movement, passing and speed on the break have been stunning.

Ok so the marking was terrible and the blame overall lies with the defenders (Stephens in particular) for allowing a free header.

Lloyd Jones scores a header

F**k me, people are actually blaming Bazunu for that. 🤣🤣

Don’t post on here much and football a is a game about opinions but I’ve never met anyone so wrong about football as you. Bazunu is statistically the worse keeper in year after year, get that in your thick head.

Watch his positioning for the goal, he literally moves to his far post which means when the ball is headed the majority of the goal is to his left. If he was in the middle of the goal like any other half decent keeper he would have saved that. He has many many flaws, but his positioning is the biggest one.

It looks like the new manager doesn’t want to play around at the back which is Bazunu’s only apparent strength. The guy is a worthless waste of space.

Coventry losing.

We have a lot of ground to make up if we're going to win the league.

Time to put the foot on the gas and eviscerate them in the second half.

The football has been breath taking tbh. Quick, one, two touch play, runners movement and fellows and Scienza outstanding on the wing. I’m still in shock, this was how i dream of watching teams play. And we’ve fluffed 3 or 4 really good chances as well. An brilliant first half

Is it greedy to think that with 5 goals, based on chances  we have underperformed?

Certainly could have scored a couple of times before the first goal.

Superb today but my God Manning is very poor defensively. He MUST get a lot closer to his man and stop the cross.

Five goals in 25 minutes and people are wanging on about blaming our keeper for failing to stop an unmarked header ffs.

Attack like this every week and we really should blow this league away. Loving the look of Cam Bragg doing the spade work too

Stephens is on 11(leaburn) when the ball was played in. Not sure if he's zonally meant to push past him and challenge Jones, or if there was a breakdown on who was suppoosed to have Jones.

Well it could have been 7 or 8 tbh

Bragg is interesting - on the one hand you could say he’s gone unnoticed, but that actually is the point…he’s come into the team and worked very well with Jander, doing the simple things competently.

How long have you been watching Saints ?

Wow! We just blew them away in the first 25 minutes.

The team worked hard for each other, in a system that made use of a lot of their individual strengths.

AA put an early header over the bar, from a good position. But that was not the way the rest of our attacks came. AA wasn't pinned looking for scraps. He was using his usual work rate to move into spaces, supporting and disrupting. Others were asked to match that, by using all that space and move between the Charlton defence.

Right from the first few minutes our passing ( little nod to RussBall) was pulling Charlton apart. Apart from that AA header, we had this week's Golden Miss going to Azaz, and Manning hitting the side netting.

The goals were a just reward for the work. But it's the work, support and anticipation that shone.

Credit to Eckhart. AA isn't a target man. So he's given runners to help. Fellows isn't a wing back. Watch how THB supports him a Ross the pitch.

Bragg isn't a midfield destroyer. But AA and Jander allow him to have passing options. Bragg took up a number of good spaces (little nod to Smallbone) to connect up the play.

After the fourth, it was a different tempo. So we got to see our defence in action. Not surprisingly, we're weaker there with Fellows and Manning. But solid enough in the centre. Only that free header at the end to look at.

Even when their forwards pressed Baz, there wasn't any worry. Baz is among the best for that sort of thing.

Lovely to enjoy the players rewarded for their effort.

Good half that. Fantastic to see such direct running. Charlton have been no mugs defensively this year, and we’ve looked like 70’s Brazil at times.

Can’t wait for Nathan Jones’ press conference.

He had a Charlton player in front of him blocking a move to his right. He was actually in the middle of his goal.

Never let your prejudices affect your judgment.

What the actual fuck was that? What is happening?

5-1 flatters them, easily a 7-8 goal score line had we finished all our chances.

The fluidity of that front 3 is impressive - Azaz - Armstrong - Leo. Pulling them all over the place, which is creating an insane amount of space in behind for late runners - which we've timed perfectly.  Fellows providing the width from the right back position is something they cannot handle either, he has been epic.

I don't know what Charlton were drinking between min 10 to min 20, as they were literally not there - but we took every opportunity we had.

One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but it's as well as we have played for 18 months.
