ally_uk Posted yesterday at 09:14 Posted yesterday at 09:14 Everyone keeps banging on about getting a new striker. Who would you bring in ? I'd try and loan Piroe 1

I'd try and loan Piroe the Leeds fans I have talked to say he is not the most physical or fastest of strikers despite his height - he's more of a second striker. So he might not be what we need most which is a centre forward. It sounds like he's more a taller version of what we have already got in Armstrong. 3
Fitzhugh Fella Posted yesterday at 09:33 Posted yesterday at 09:33 Our myopic gaslighting manager is telling the Echo he's happy with what we already have. 2 2 1 2
die Mannyschaft Posted yesterday at 09:33 Posted yesterday at 09:33 I would get as many of the top goal scorers in leaque 1. They would be affordable want to progress to get into championship and then Prem. We need 4 goal scorers as then have option with our stupid 5 subs each game. Plus bookings and injuries. Get them on end season or loan. Get anyone who has got 12 plus goals already. And over 18 goals last season. NOT 4 or 6 goals. But if we continue with baffling tactics and trying to pass ball in new even if we had Harland he would score if told to sideways pass in out 25 yard box We need proper goals scorers who can shoot on sight, 25 yards, any angle and not those who pass back when 6 yards in front goal. 1

In that case it should be Doncaster 0-4 Saints or more as a minimum. If we don't score any goals or just 1 then that's the level club happy with which will be bottom 8 in championship 1
S-Clarke Posted yesterday at 12:05 Posted yesterday at 12:05 There are a couple of PL strikers out there at the moment, who are hardly playing and will add to what we don't currently have. Taiwo Awoniyi - He has been injured, but he plays the odd min if he gets on. He surely wants game time somewhere. Joel Piero - He's played 9 or 10 games, the odd 2 or 3 min sub appearances at best. He is surely got to be up for a loan, proven at this level. The issue we have is that there will be clubs in this league much more attractive than us right now, 14 of them in fact - so it may be difficult to get anyone actually any good in the door after this disaster of a season, but we've got to try a loan. 3

Couldn't that actually work in our favour? i.e. A loan striker from the Premier League is more likely to get a run of games in a poorer championship team than in the higher flying teams who already have decent strikers...?

Yeah maybe, but it depends if Coventry or Ipswich go fishing for a CF - I'd say they're much more attractive options. Even Boro, they struggle with an out and out goal scorer as their Slovakian striker hasn't cut it yet (not that it mattered against us), so one of those could certainly go there and get game time. 1

Not impossible but highly unlikely that the two top scoring teams would be fishing for a striker in the January window.

Bit weird that we are selling our fifth choice centre back to one of these 14 "much more attractive" mega clubs we can't possibly compete with.

As if Tonda has any say in who we sign and when, he's probably being told to 'make do' with what he has, so of course he's going to say what we have is OK. I'm sure Tonda would also love us to sign a guaranteed goalscorer, which manager wouldn't? 3

I'm sure Tonda would also love us to sign a guaranteed goalscorer, which manager wouldn't? It's a tricky ground, in some ways I can see why clubs drive recruitment, as it protects the squad from the managerial merry-go-round - but at the same time you surely still need some recommendations and push from the manager, to aid the way they want to play? Even under Russell Martin, he drove the Downes and Manning signings without question - and they did help us in that first Championship season. You've got to give the manager some rope to offer up recommendations as it's him setting the team up, but not all the rope. We've kind of done both extremes here. We let Martin run the PL summer transfer window in the main, without any DoF structure. And this year we've gone full reverse, club scouted players, not manager recommendations, DoF driven. And now we have a manager who has no lived managerial experience to even make recommendations. We're such a confused club. Edited yesterday at 15:03 by S-Clarke 2

SNSUN Posted yesterday at 17:41 Posted yesterday at 17:41 If we sign a striker, which I doubt, it’ll possibly be someone young and on loan. So Chido Obi. At least he’s tall. Highly rated young United striker that has scored goals through Denmark’s youth International teams.

I’d have him back in a flash for hold up play alone, but still an important player for Torino this season, 14 starts and 3 goals. Not sure why he’d swap Turin for Soton. 2
qwertyell Posted yesterday at 19:32 Posted yesterday at 19:32 Might as well find a use for Ankersen by drawing on his Scandinavian contacts. August Priske, Daniel Karlsbakk, Robbie Ure, Stefan Ingi Sigurdason might be in our affordability/willing-to-join-this-shitshow range. Might even turn out to be relatively good. But probably not. But they are tall.
USaintA Posted yesterday at 19:46 Posted yesterday at 19:46 There's this tall Nigerian geezer currently playing in the top Turkish league. Name escapes me. Think he's scored something like 11 goals in 16 games. Might be worth a shout. 3 1

Convict Colony Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago one of you must know a striker who has world cup hopes probably for a shit nation who isn't getting into his club team and is too good for us but might be willing to play for 6 months in championship. and before anyone says it endrick is already at Lyon.

Pat from Poole Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Suspect I am in a minority of one, but I would offer Wrexham £10 million for Kieffer Moore and see how desperate they are to keep him. He is exactly what we need.

Then we replace him at no 9 with someone 5 ft 6 and spend half the season pumping it long to him in the air. You’ve got to love it 2 1
