Yep it's exactly the sort of result teams have when they're going to be relegated

Just on the train home.

The greatest game I've ever been to.

Forget the first half, it was shit.

The second half was incredible. We never do that. That stuff happens to us, not the other way around.

I'm in complete shock but I love it. Apart from Portsmouth, that was the perfect team for that to happen against. That avenges the 9-0 and that awful last-minute goal last season. We're even now.

And even better we get to rub it in their faces on Saturday.

Hahahahahahaha. Fuck off you foxy cunts.

Thanks! That Jack goal was excellent but the finish from Charles was sublime.

Credit to Manning to be fair, not just his goal but he kept the ball in play for Jack’s goal too. Funny to see Manning, THB & Jack all up there fir that goal…

Also have a confession to make in that I think I'm enjoying Jack Stephens again. Give him another three years.

From the highlights he looked to be playing CF for a bit.

A lot of focus has been on Larin getting ready for the Canada World Cup squad. But, surely Stewart is also an outside bet for the Scotland national team should he finally remain fit. George Hirst and Lyndon Dykes in their most recent squad alongside Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland, and a fit Stewart is at least better than the first two.

Just needs to do the hard bit for him and remain fit.

Shankland out injured for the next two months at least. Dykes in very poor form. I don't think Hirst is playing regularly for Ipswich is he?

Adams is the only cert for me.

Wow. For me that's final closure after 20-odd years for the humiliating 4-3 loss to Leeds after being 3-0 up at half time and the Northam singing 'easy easy' after 45 min...

Football, bloody hell.

Really, or are you just saying that for the LOLs? Or did you go to a pub to drown your sorrows and then hit the first Saints fan who told you we won 4-3 because you thought they were taking the mick?!;-)

Good game for Stewart think he also got two assists as well as scoring . She’s Charles needs to be starting after that I think our best midfielder and he hasn’t really had that much game  time with saints but he’s come on leaps and bounds now

What a night. Fantastic experience and very glad we got a good stream to watch it.

Slightly gutted I wasn’t there. I rang their box office this afternoon to check I could get tickets in the away end if I drove up - something I’ve done before when we’ve played up there and made a late call - apparently that isn’t possible these days. I was please at half time but….

Ah fuck it, I'll admit Tonda was right to start Archer. If he hadn't we'd probably have sneaked a boring narrow win or draw. His decision led to a stunning come back and a game the like of which we've rarely, if ever, seen before. Fair play for setting us up fot a night to remember Tonda.

While all of that is true, what Tonda didn’t appreciate, or act on, was the need to make changes on the half-hour after Leicester’s third goal goes in.   He should have replaced Jander who was having an out-of-character shocker; he should have replaced Archer for reasons which don’t need explaining, and he could have taken Fellows off who couldn’t get into the game and whose head had dropped after the awful back pass.    It took a miracle and a touch of class from Shea Charles to rescue three points, and save Tonda’s blushes.    Yes, they are playing for him, yes he made several good tactical changes, but the Archer experiment and the delayed substitutions invite justified criticism.

In fairness, I do understand why Stewart and Larin did not start (fitness concerns) and can also understand why he then wouldn't have wanted to make that sub until at least half time. But I do agree that Jander should certainly have come off earlier when it was clear he was having such a poor night and was also at real risk of a red card, especially when we had such a good replacement in Charles who arguably should be starting anyway.

That said, at least he was decisive at half time with the 3 changes that were all needed and fully justified by the second half performance so fair play to him for that. We all know he is a work in progress as a manager, let's hope he can continue to improve and learn on the job. We're back in the mix now! 👍

About 10 seconds before Manning equalised they were saying "We're going to lose this".

A prediction on the Leicester forum:

I’m sure the Southampton fans will be very gracious and not mention tonight’s result at all on Saturday

Football, bloody hell.

I remember the Leeds fans singing "We're going to win 4-3" after they went 3-0 down. I thought their gallows humour was quite funny. I didn’t expect them to bloody do it.

Still in awe.

I thought we could maybe nick a draw.

We can't play that bad in the second half right, plus we have some decent attacking players.

I don't actually mind putting out a very mixed team out on Saturday now. Those players deserved a rest. Just put in a whole lot of training and tactics before the Charlton game

Just home thanks to roadworks on every bit of road between Leicester and Soton. Bizarre game, as shit as we were first half, I thought Leicester were too and it was just a case of everything they hit went in. I said at HT, reckon we get the next one and they’ll shit themselves, thinking we might make a game of it. Fuck me did we make a game of it. One for the ages.

Feel for those who left early. I’ve left games at 3-0 down before but felt it wasn’t quite done yet. Had a 4th gone in, I’d have been on my way back to the car. We got smashed 5-0 last time I was there so was thinking it’d be more of the same, sweet revenge

At 3-0 down I was having a slight panic attack thinking about the 9-0 nightmare. it may not of been total payback but that win feels absolutely brilliant

At 3-0 down Leicester fans were singing we want 9 and 'Southampton, it's happened again '

Just home now, it's a funny old game as Saint and Greavsie would say

This reaction after the Saints' fourth goal:

- First person: prefers to hide under his jacket.

- Second person: no reaction, just shocked.

- Third person: thinks it's a bad joke and prefers to laugh it off.

They look so disappointed, haha.

Always believe until the very last second!

Congratulation again, Saint's Friend !!!

aside from the 3pts the best thing about the game is now for the rest of the season the team will still think they can do this if they are down goals at ht.

Let's hope we don't need too tho.

I think we could put a heavily changed side out and still beat them.

We were crap first half (mainly due to Archer being Archer and Jander having an off day) but Leicester really are shite. They didn't have a shot on target after their third goal on 29 minutes. Just look at their recent form. They are bang in trouble.

Did anyone else notice how they brought Jordan Ayew on and he must've given away about 6 fouls in the space of 10 minutes? Exactly what you don't want when trying to keep the opposition in their own half.

Yes, the ref was a bit harsh with some of those. But who cares.

Usually this sort of thing happens to us!

I was following the Foxes forum last night through the whole game - it was as bipolar as ours. More interestingly from the moment Ross scored one back, there were an awful lot of them that just knew they would capitulate. They lack leaders, quality, mentality, fitness and they despair at their defence. Their players cost a lot, their defence is ageing, they are on ridiculous wages, they're financially broken and their owners are shite. And now they have Aribo. Quite simply, if they want to survive, they either have to try to outscore teams or hope that Blackburn, Pompey or WBA are more shit than they are (I still think it will be Blackburn). I don't mind Leicester - but if they went down I worry for their future. It's not like Luton sinking through the divisions, their players weren't on such crazy wages. Leicesters are and relegation could kill them, not that I think they will go down, but you never know.

I got 4 hours sleep overnight before work, so buzzing was I after that. Thankfully I am at a quiet station today (touch wood) so I can peruse the play-off rival forums and see if we're getting a mention.

Fair play to tonda for getting the sub's right for once but no excusing the disasterous first half lineup and peformance we won despite him....

We will see if this really is a turning point in the team or yet another false dawn where we end up losing the next game and going on another bad run 🤞🤞🤞

Still a terrific win I honestly thought we were dead and burried at 3-0

Tonda reaction

  • We arrived late to the party
  • Incredible 2nd half, shows great character of the team
  • I only made it halfway to the fans at the end ,but the boys were amazing
  • It was frustrating for the first half or have an explanation, we will have to watch that again
  • When you are 3-0 down away from home, you have to change it
  • Leicester are not in a good moment and we knew we needed a goal early
  • The boys really went for it
  • We sensed their tension, we have been there when games become tough
  • Today, for us, we needed that first goal and the momentum was ours
  • Stevo should have scored a 2nd, but he was brilliant
  • Tough to find the right words after today
  • We will try to bring momentum into Saturday and we have more home games coming up
  • McCarthy had planned surgery and will be out for a couple of weeks

Games against Leicester seem to have talking points in history, can we talk about this one for years rather than the 0-9. Oh and 7 different scorers! What a night.

We certainly have a bit more spunk about us since the Skates away!

Let's hope Eckert finally realises what his best team is.

He cannot help himself I’m afraid. He also reacted far to slowly and should have hooked some players and changed the shape much early, but fair play in the end, we got away with it with an amazing comeback, just in the nick of time, and you could feel the Leicester panic, just like we have felt so many times in the past!
