100% he would, he should have looked at some the players that have come through our academy and waited a few years. Probably had someone in his ear advising him to move.

But there are no guarantees for academy players that they are going to make it at a good level so you can’t blame them for taking 2-3 years of a much higher wage at clubs like Chelsea knowing you are very likely to leave in a few years

In fairness it was him and Dibling that stood out and had been talked about for a couple of years.

So I think he would have had chances here. However yes, I agree, money talks and the amount he was offered was a decent amount.

Exactly this.

Have you tried the golf thread? 🙂

Certainly you’ll see some links at the US Open starting later today at Shinnecock Hills.

If we're looking for a winger on loan Mikey Moore from Spurs would be worth a look, had a decent season at Rangers last year, wont get in their team.

Hes dire of what I have seen. Also would be british premium price

I have faith in our recruitment this summer.

I feel like we’ll do a lot of our business behind closed doors and they’ll be the few rumours until there is something to be announced.

Agreed, Some random European midfielder no one has heard of with underwhelming stats who will probably turn out to be a gem.

Someone did mention to me that we've been linked with Callum O'Hare again.  Not sure where the link came from and it's probably bollocks but can see that being something we might be interested in.

He's already re-signed for Frankfurt

A team puts a bid in for him

Frankfurt hear about the deal

Frankfurt then trigger their buy back clause (probably at a lesser value than initial bid)

Frankfurt then sell to the team that placed the initial bid.

Probably

I don't buy this. Why would he sign for Frankfurt if the other club is willing to offer him better wages - he'd make any future transfer to them more expensive and reduce his potential wages with them? Equally, why would he sign for the other club if he's already joined Frankfurt on better wages? These agreements between clubs are nice in theory, but if the player doesn't sign a contract its academic surely? The only difference to that is loan with buy obligations attached, where its essentially all signed and agreed between the clubs and the players at the start.

Look at what happened with Alderweireld - we had an agreement in place with his club, but he snubbed us contractually and joined spurs.

I think the theory is that Frankfurt had a buy-back price agreed when they sold him - and if there was interest above that price, Frankfurt would be able to buy him back and sell him to the interested party at the higher price.

Suspect it's all moot as probably made up by a lonely teenager in a foul-smelling bedroom.

Do we? He's not a starting CM and he won't sign a new deal?snap someone's arm of for £20-25M... Sales are needed and he's a huge pricetag for a squad player.

He can do better than Leeds and we can do better than £20m.

How much do you think he’s worth? I would probably take £20mil with some add ons and a sell on personally given his contract situation.

I'd like to think we can get £25m+ for him, but yeah concede we might have to settle for £20m and add-ons.  Also depends what he is worth to us in terms of promotion.

We have to sell some players though. Given his contract situation and how much he payed last year, I'd say he's probably one we have to sell for a good price.

Downes and Jander were mainly first choice but Charles is as good. Bragg will become (probably) our best CM over the next 12-18 months.

On that basis I would sell Charles and would expect 20-25m plus add-ons. We may not need to directly replace him, as hopefully Moses Sesay will be the Bragg of next season and come through nicely.

I hope we sign a Number 10 and a striker soon.

After that I expect a CB to replace THB, as it seems like he will be in demand. I would want 35-40m given his improvement and contract length.

With a longer contract and multiple interested parties, maybe. Personally I don’t see it. I think Hackney will likely go for the £20mil mark and he’s won player of the season, I can’t see many teams being willing to pay much more than that.

Big call on Bragg. I rate him but I think Jander is a more complete player and will continue to develop before moving on to bigger and better things. I can’t see Bragg overtaking him but if he does we’ll have some midfield for this level!

Has anyone mentioned Noel Futkeu from Greuther Furth? Top scorer in 2 Bundesliga last season. A league well know to Spors; would be surprised if Noel hasn't come up on the radar.

That was a Twitter rumour made by one of those er.... teenagers/kids, surely this should be in here

Or is it a case of just single out the one person because people need someone to go for and I'm it yet again 🖕 i'm out of here, finally leave you all in peace.
