  1. CJ Egan-Riley — my first choice
    • Comfortable playing out from the back.
    • Has experience in the Championship and at Premier League level.
    • Would fit a possession-oriented Southampton side.
    • At 23, he still has significant upside.

  3. Ronnie Edwards
    • Southampton know the Championship market well, and Edwards would be a very logical fit.
    • Excellent age profile and technically suited to building from defence.
    • Could potentially become the long-term leader of the back line.

  5. Ben Nelson
    • Leicester’s young centre-back has the physical profile to handle Championship football.
    • Still developing, so Southampton could potentially get more value from him than with an established name.

The suitors have been queuing up to secure Viking stopper Henrik Falchener (23) this transfer window.

TV 2 has previously experienced that Wrexham has put large sums, in the Norwegian context, for the centre-back.

Now TV 2 can experience that Southampton have merged with a bigger bid than before.

That means a total package of over one hundred million kroner.

It is unclear how Viking will respond to the bid.

On Sunday, Henrik Falchener is not in the Vikings' squad. He is over the match with a little acquaintance who has followed him since the WC.

The news comes the day after TV 2 was able to experience that Edvin Austbø traveled to London to sign for West Ham.

If the transfer for Falchener materializes, Austbø and Falchener will go from being teammates in Viking to becoming angry rivals in the search for promotion to the Premier League.

You have to assume we've heard positive noises from him and his agent if we're still making bids despite Viking qualifying for Champions League.

You'd also assume that we have known about THB going this summer for a while along old while. Hopefully a lot of discussions have happened behind the scenes.

He came off early-ish second half. Was holding his hamstring, but walked off clapping the fans.

Funny how the Viking story breaks out the moment we accept THB’s fee.

Villa probably faxed us the offer this morning but we leave it until we get our deal over the line first.

An indifferent spell at Newcastle did him no favours either.

Pichards, could I ask if when you said we want another number 9, winger and defender, have you got inside info or just a hunch as Alfie house doesn’t seem to think we will get more than a defender?

To have got £60 million for Charles and THB we’ve absolutely taken Fulham and Villa for a ride. Great business from us. Not convinced that either of them are PL players.

I guess the fact that we were, objectively, absolutely woeful in both our most recent Premier League seasons had an impact on their chances to showcase their PL talents.

I wouldn't go that far. Its hardly like West Ham turning a £40M profit in one season on Matty Fernandes, we signed THB for £20M two years ago and he's not leaving for much more , getting the absolute minimum for him in my opinion 

 

Lets not forget they've had £9M off us for Dobbin which is a big rebate for them really as he's not worth that
