Get onto Ross and Breezy tomorrow morning with a two-year contract extension and busk it from there

Why would they stick around?

Theyve proven they can do it at this level. Go to a club that isn’t a basket case

Completely fair point and I would understand if they move on

Scienza's statement is as honest and heartfelt as you'd expect from him. But it also read as a bit of a goodbye too.

He's getting on in years and would be an idiot to chain himself to our sinking ship

Good luck to him

I guess that's one way to stop them leaving, but I'm fairly sure it's illegal.

I think once the dust settles down we'll end up retaining more of our players than many expect.

We'll still have good quality Championship level players like Fellowes, Matsuki, Manning would be my guess and we'll get good money for those that leave.

Biggest shame will be Peretz and Larin not joining us, particularly Peretz for me who made an incredible difference.

Been there, got it wrong, never to be repeated. But yep, Baz'll be back.

He won’t even be fine for League 1 the next season.

Admin is probably the only way to get rid of the SR vermin so bring on the crisp packet wrists.

Agree. We'll likely lose THB, Scienza, Jander and possibly Matski.

I'd expect Charles, Jander, Scienza, THB to definitely go.  Peretz I doubt we can get, would be nice to think we could get Larin as he seems to like it here and given his recent record before he came here then he might be tempted if he doesn't get a better option. Reckon we've got a decent chance of keeping Fellows and Azaz.  We'll probably have a half decent squad capable of challenging for play offs again.

Tonda will obviously be gone so if we keep Spors that probably makes things a little smoother.  If both go then that's going to be quite tough for any new management team to come in and hit the ground running.  Thank god for the return of Damion Downs.  That's one bright spot at least.

Just need Stewart to get seriously crocked at the WC to top it all off.

Thinking about it, him getting injured (not seriously) before / during the World Cup might be the only scenario in which he stays.... If he has a good World Cup then surely he'll be off? (Unless he feels he owes the club another season for sticking by him the last few years?)

Not sure about Azaz if Boro go up. That would be pretty painful. Agree about the others though. Would be class if Larin stayed.

Wonder if Aaron Ramsdale will return?

Players who might still be here (all IMO and it's very difficult to decide right now) based on Wiki first team.

GK - Baz (unless sold out or loaned). That's it. Macca will leave ooc,  Jones released and Long loan ends. Peretz? Loan ends. Moody? Yes.  Ramsdale? Sold. Major surgery here.

RB - Bree? Possibly. Roerslev? Probably. Sugawara? Sold. Jelert? End of loan

LB - Manning? Probably. Taylor? Released. Welington? Maybe sold. Larios might still be here though!

CB - Jack? Yes. Wood? Yes. Quarshie? Yes. THB? Sold. There's also Kayi Sanda.

CM - Jander and Charles sold. Downes? I'm on the fence. Bragg? Yes. Rom maybe moves into a coaching role. Aribo? Released. Smallbone? Released, probably. Williams? Yes. Sesay? Yes. Major surgery needed here too.

RW - Matsuki?  Yes unless sold. Fellows? Yes.

LW - Leo? Sold. Edozie? On the fence, maybe sold. Robinson? Yes. Surgery here.

AM - Fin? Sold. Need more AMs.

Striker - Ross? Who knows. Should sign him up. Larin? End of loan sadly. Archer? Yes, maybe. BBD? On the fence. Maybe loaned again. Downs? Sold/loaned. Oyekunle? Yes. Major surgery here too.

Plus a smattering of our younger players like Dibaga.

So probably 2 keepers, 1 left back, 1 centre back, 2 CMs, 2 AMs, 1 LW, 2 strikers - 11 players needed.

This is all IMO and a worse case scenario but it means I can look back through the summer and see how dumb and stupid I was. Besides we don't know which part of the roller coaster we'll be on come July.

Poster boy for SR. Faded, ripped poster in a disused underground station of a dystopian future. But still with us after so many others have gone. 🙂

If we end up with Baz in goal and Archer up top with BBD we are fucked.

On the positive side, we only need to aim for 8th to get into the playoffs. It all depends on who the new DoF and manager are, and whether they can instill a strong team spirit and style of play early on. Look at what Hull have done this season.

-4 points is not a disaster.

My predictions:

McCarthy - Retires/stays on a 3rd keeper

Roerslev - Is he fit? Presumably he'll stay

Manning - Stay

Downes - Stay, unless Ipswich come back in for him, or West Ham perhaps...?

Stephens - Stay

Harwood-Bellis - Sold

Aribo - Hahahaha. Contract up I think? At least his wages will be freed up.

Smallbone - Stay

Larin - I'd like to think we'd sign him and stay but we'll see.

Azaz - Stay

Stewart - Hope he stays.

Scienza - I think we'll get an offer that we can't refuse and he'll be off. Good luck to him

Bree - Stay I hope.

Wood - Stay

Quarshie - Stay

Fellows - Stay

Archer - Stay unless he wants more first team football

Jander - Probably sold, hopefully at a decent profit.

Charlie Taylor - I'll assume he'll be released

BBD - Sold I hope.

Edozie - Sold

Charles - Sold unfortunately

Matsuki - Stay

Romeu - Retires

Bazunu - Just go. Please.

Jamie Jones - Lol

Welington - If he wants to stay then great but if there's interest from Brazil I think we'll sell him

Jelert - Back to Turkey

Peretz - Want him to stay, think it depends very heavily on whether there is interest from other teams or if his only option is target practice for Harry Kane

Jay Robinson - Stay, shame about his injuries but think he can be a big player for us next year

Bragg - Stay

Sugawara - Sold ASAP

Downs - He'll get another chance but I'm not optimistic he's improved at all.

Ramsdale - Assume someone somewhere will want him but not sure what his options are tbh.

Juan Larios - ???

So out of all of that, I think from the current first team, THB, Jander, Charles and Scienza almostly certainly we sell. Jander as well possibly. Hopefully that will balance the books somewhat, along with Ramsdale if we can find a buyer, and then a few other deadwood to get rid of, and then we can rebuild. CM seems like a bit of a weak area but at least we have Smallbone back.

Don't you remember that amazing assist on day 1 though...

Also, his last point of the season, I might add.

Oh fuck sake, I hope not. He would be a decent player to step in. Cant see where he would go unless an Italian club comes up with decent money.

Wasn't it reported that due to committed outgoings, staying in this league will mean about £50m in sales just to stand still...that is not counting how the new spending restrictions shape it all

That is Leo and Jander gone before we do anything, THB gone just to buy a new keeper and forward.

Shea Charles will go, I’ve been saying it for a while. One year left, deal has been on the table forever.

Once the dust settles it’ll be easier to tell which players will stick around and which won’t.

Players like Harwood-Bellis, Scienza, Jander wouldn’t begrudge going because they’ve done very well.

I think the likes of Azaz, Fellows etc will still be here as they’ve only just signed long term contracts and we aren’t like to recoup any money we spent on them.

Right now it’s very much reactionary for players and fans alike. It’s important to get the manager right.

Get the manager right and that might make players think “yeah I’ll have one last crack at it”.

Also worth bearing in mind that these guys are human, much like our places of work some have young families, they have comfort, stability, that’s why a lot of people don’t change jobs. Aside from the money I think we’ve got some much smarter players that may consider things like that too.

Every half decent player will be gone in the summer. We would have struggled to keep any of them if we failed to go up as it was but now there's no chance.

This is a massive overreaction. You’ve got to find buyers to stump up reasonable amounts of cash and wages that will pay more than us. THB, Charles, Jander all worth the investment. Nice ages, potential etc. Scienza…maybe…the rest have it fairly good here when everything dies down…

I saw Charles was linked with Man United.

I don't think he's good enough tbh, but if he's going to a top club then at least the fee should be good

Not with just 1 year left on his contract it won't be. We'll have to sell him cut price in relation to his value.

I can see Charles at a club like Bournemouth or Brighton. Well run, good squad that will need extra players for a longer campaign next season who will no doubt have a couple of their biggest players picked off over the summer - inevitable.

I think the definite leavers are Scienza, THB and I'll reluctantly include Jander as I think there's a slight chance he stays. We will get offers that are hard to turn down.

Plus the loanees Peretz and Larin are likely to depart. I don't think either are top flight guaranteed players but Larin has been around the block and will look for a decent loan. And Peretz is already with a top club and will have offers.

The maybe leavers include Charles (good enough for top flight but not consistent) and Downes (similar). But I doubt we will let all 3 CMs depart.

In this group of at risk of leaving you have to add Bree and Stewart due to contracts but we will offer them both new deals. I think both could stay.

I believe our other 'good' players will more than likely stay due to contracts, offers. Can't legislate for surprises or them having the hump long term but more likely to stay.... Fellowes, Matsuki, Azaz, and Manning in this group of good players now too.

I've probably forgotten someone from the list of 'hope they stay'.

I expect Stephens, Bragg, Wood, Archer to be here, unless we can offload the latter.

Out of our first choice 13-15 at the end of this season, I hope we have 8 or 9, and double figures would be amazing.

Optimistic yes, but when the dust settles their contracts remain and they are still the same players with the same attractiveness to us and other clubs.

Let's not forget that there's a World Cup in the middle of all this. That doesn't end until the 19th July. Nothing much is going to happen in the transfer market whilst that's going on.

Posted

Manning has a year left on his contract so I expect he will go.

Smallbone is out of contract but I think we have an option on another year - but I think Millwall will make his mov permanent for a small fee.

Stewart is out of contract but we have an option on another year - so hopefully he will stay.

Azaz is supposedly on 50K a week - so I think we will need to move him on - and he wants to play in the Premier League.

I’m not certain Solak is going to have an appetite to go again either, so how stable and what funds will be available may drive what the squad looks like. I think he will keep Parsons too. What he does next will tell us more and manager we will get will tell us loads.

If he doesn't have the appetite to go again, then he needs to ditch us ASAP and find new investment who does have an appetite. He's caused this mess.

He either fixes it aggressively, (doubtful), or he gives the keys to someone who can.

Ramsdale wont return as he will be on twice the wage at a Prem club and we will need the money from his transfer fee.
