He's mentioned several times that his boyhood hero (and later mentor) was Jussi Jääskeläinen, so had assumed a Bolton fan.  Saw this as a good thing when he signed for Saints, as he said that a key reason was the chance to play every week, and emulate JJ's 500 appearences for Bolton. Hope the club can reach an agreement to get him in the first team squad for a promotion push, as him and Peretz in the PL would give us hell of a goalkeeping pairing.

Ramsdale had enough of moving around clubs to what would be a fourth new side in three years so he only wanted to do so if the offer was 'too good to refuse' and turned down interest throughout the window, including from clubs in Scotland, Spain and Germany.

Well that's a good thing. I mean Peretz is brilliant and I love him being number 1, but, he does need someone to keep him on his toes and make him keep pushing himself, it won't hurt both of them.

So:

• Peretz is #1

• Ramsdale is backup #1 and training keeper

• Long is #2

• Jones is training keeper

All semantics, but good to know that Ramsdale will likely play if Peretz doesn't.

More like: he doesn't want to go to Saudi or Turkey or anywhere.

We've tried to get him out but we can't. No one else that he could conceivably go to wanted him.

Be interesting to see how we play it when the very last window shuts.

I’m sure we are not playing him as we can’t afford to, he’s probably got some kind of appearance money if he plays - hence he’ll only play if Peretz gets injured. 
 

Money is tight now we are in our 2nd season in the championship and his reported basic wage is way over our budget as it is.

Yeah, that's what I reckon. An appealing Prem move never happened and he's not keen on abroad move with his current family situation, which is fair enough. I think we are still very keen for him to go as we need wages off books so nothing will change until all windows are shut.

He seems to me a player that hit the heights then wasn't highly rated by the Prem clubs , which is why he ended up at Saints . I don't think he is interested in playing abroad and despite his outgoing persona probably is not overly ambitious person and would be happy at Saints if the financial position was sorted out . This is only my feeling based on what little we see in the media !!!

Crazy situation, incredible to think that Aaron Ramsdale is our backup GK. Too good to be our 1st choice let alone backup.

I guess at least it keeps Peretz on his toes though.

The headline that he is 'fourth choice' is obviously nonsense. If Peretz did get injured, he'd be brought straight back in to the first team without any hesitation.

Absolutley ridiculous to leave him out the playing squad currently. Whilst Peretz deserves the number 1 jersey at the moment his position needs to be challenged.

I can only assume there is something contractually that we don’t know about that the club don’t want to pay him. Appearance fees for example?

You would certainly think so.

The fact that Tonda's told Long that he's No 2 doesn't mean he'll ever be No 1.

Yes but Ramsdale isn’t competing for the number one spot in form. It seems that the only way he’ll get the spot is if Perez gets injured. At the moment Ramsdale isn’t even training with the first team group. So, yeah, it is a bit of a story.

Well if Tonda gets the boot, a new manager comes in, Tonda's rules for the goalies dont count anymore, so who knows what will happen?

Long a non-playing just training goalie, Peretz No.2 and Ramsdale in goal - I mean it is Saints so as mental and daft as I sound the more likely it will be.....

If we do end up with a new manager, in whatever circumstances, he will almost certainly be briefed that Ramsdale is unavailable and that we’re actively pursuing options to offload him in January. This isn’t ’Tonda rules’ it’s a financial necessity.

A situation that just needs a good deal for AR to go to another club. I guess Saints want to recover costs but may need to make a big loss. £15m or less, even £10m he's not playing so its like buying a car with no MOT a risk.

£5m will do. He’ll have one year left next summer and nobody is willing to pay more. Get him off the books.
