Saints v Walsall build-up

Can jaidi play another game so quickly. The guy was my mom today.

Seaborne wasn't in the side today so i'm guessing he'll start on Tuesday - Adkins is probably trying to keep him fresh. That's a good system actually, resting Jaidi and Seaborne alternately and having Martin on the bench.

Seaborne has some sort of back injury, minor according to the OS but who knows whether that's a conservative assessment.

Team should be:

Davis

Richardson

Fonte ©

Martin

Harding

Chamberlain

Chaplow

Schneiderlin

Lallana

Lambert

Barnard

Subs:

Shea, Dickson, Jaidi, Butterfield, Hammond, Forte, Guly

As much as I like Butterfield, I think I prefer Richardson. Their distribution is equally suspect but Richardson is much more solid.

I think Jaidi may struggle after such a good performance today, and I would love to see more of Aaron Martin. He did well against Blackpool.

I like Hammond, but my preferred midfield partnership is RC and MS. It's hard though when DH is captain.

Richardson's passing is a lot worse.

Must say I completely disagree. Sometimes he tries more longer balls to try switch play and these are noticeable if they don't come off, but generally speaking I think Richardson is slightly better, partly because he seems more aware of his options.

Neither are outstanding passers, but also it must be said that in general a full back is often left with less options to pass to because of his position on the pitch and so can be more harshly judged. If the opposition close down midfield options, more often than not they are left with only the option of a percentage ball down the line or into the channel. The midfield and his centre backs can help by making themselves more available. You're relying on others to move for you more in that position, than when the ball is in the middle of the park.

Bournemouth and Peterborough don't have a game on Tuesday and Huddersfield have a tricky tie away to "do well against the top sides at home" Hartlepool.

So, in theory, we stand a good chance of being 3rd on Tuesday, just 3 points behind Bournemouth with 2 games in hand.

In theory...

My missus has suddenly decided she can make it but we've now only got three tickets between four of us, I presume pay on the gate isn't an issue for this game?

Well I'm going up without a ticket, so If I can't blag it in the away end, I'll put my brummie accent on and fire in the home end.

We should win but can't afford any silly goals to get their crowd going. Watch this near post shots kelvin.

Tough game simply because it's a crap ground and they have nothing to lose.

Aren't they doing a fair job of scrapping hard for their lives and possibly engineering a great escape from relegation?

3-0 to Saints though IMHO

Anyone know what state their pitch is in? Hopefully like a bowling green but I very much doubt it.

Game will be post poned for sure - I'm not working and will be able to listen to the commentary - can't remember the last game I listened to live or could actually have a beer as not working later.

Fingers crossed for this one though.

Will be there to see a game finally. Walsall were in terrible form when the game was originally scheduled, so hope the slight improvement since then will mean nothing and we'll prove our team is good enough to be in the automatic places. With a fit combination of Lallana, Oxo and Lambert playing to their best ability we should be unstoppable in this league. Also like the competition for places throughout the team and don't feel we have a really weak link, unlike recent years.

I know changing the side too much after a win can often have a negative affect, but would anyone else want to see Richardson play instead of Butterfield? I like Danny but he hoofs it a lot and even his short passing was wayward today.

I'd be disappointed if that chnage wasnt made. Butterfield was outstanding in his first few games, but hasn't been as good recently.

It would also send out the perfect message. Given the options available, any drop in form and someone takes your place.

Tough call with the RB position. Butterfield didn't have such a good game yesterday but I feel he is a lot more consistent than Richardson whose passing and distribution can be terrible.

Maybe Morgan will start too, as shown yesterday we are a different team when he gets time on the ball.

Couple of things I picked up on in Adkins interview on BBC website .. He said Guly came off with a slight hamstring strain and the interviewer said weather forecast for Tues is looking dodgy and chance of postponement.

In response Nigel said, quite firmly, that he was only concerned with what was controllable not what wasn't.

Sounds like Guly might miss out then, thus smoothing the path for Barnard to start ...

Davis

Butterfield Martin Fonte Harding

Chamberlin Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana

Barnard Lambert

Would be my team. It won't be the team that's played but it's what I would have.

I disagree, assuming that seaborne is still injured, I reckon thats exactly the team that'll play. It really should be far too much for Walsall...
