You have been given the green-light to bring in one more player obviously keep the signing realistic who would you add?

Me Personally I would go for Charlie Austin

Reasons: more firepower up top has a record of scoring in the Prem and takes the pressure off Pelle.....

Who would you boys buy?

Not sure how he would take the pressure off Pelle. I am sure he wouldn't fancy sitting on the bench unless you would play them together?

I was thinking more of rotating Austin with Pelle, take last season for example we relied on Pelle to much and he took a massive dip in form..

I think that is a problem though, I cant see either wanting to be rotated. Didn't Austin say he expected to start every week?

I know what we don't need....two disgruntled strikers because they are being rotated game to game.

but to answer the question. We need a offensive minded midfielder who can distribute and put the ball in the back of the net every now and then. (Maybe that will be Clasie, that remains to be seen.)

as far as who is realistically available to sign to fill that role, no idea.

Almost anyone but Charlie Austin. Can't see how he would add anything at all useful to our squad. Given the likelihood of injury and suspension I would be inclined to get in a third defensive midfield rock who can play a bit to provide cover/alternatives to Romeu and Wanyama. No-one immediately springs to mind but I imagine Reed and Co have targets.

how come we can have about 6 midfielders and that is 'good' compeition

but someone so take on Pelle's slot, is bad?

There is a reason why nobody has signed Chalie Austin and it's not on ability.

The West Ham comments, seem to have some credibility. If you can't insure him, you can't pay the perecived asking price, or the wages. Cr@p situation for everyone. Fuller made the most of it, so no reason why Austin can't, but he's more valuable to QPR than a poultry transfer fee, so i can understand why they won't sell him.

Would that be chicken feed?

Personally hope we steer clear of Austin. If we looking for like for like competition for pelle on the cheap I'd suggest lafferty on loan from Norwich.

Obviously if soares carries on struggling right back might be a priority.

Redmond is certainly someone I'd like to see at saints. Disappointed all the previous linkage to him when they were in the championship came to nothing. Would cost a fortune in January though. Best wait till the summer when hopefully they will have been relegated.

A right back, any right back, I'd even stretch to someone with the initials RB. Can't do any worse than what we have.

We have a full back with the initials RB. I reckon we should sign him and play him on the right. Playing full backs on the wrong side is good enough for Chelsea...

Would take a punt on Kyle Walker.

No thanks. One of the least intelligent footballers I've watched. His pace gets him out of trouble a lot of the time but that won't last forever. He looks ok going forward, usually until he tries to put the ball in the box, and defensively he's a liability IMO. Reckless in the challenge.

Anyway, he gets a bit of game time for Spurs which can only be good for everyone else, and I'm sure they wouldn't be interested in selling anyone to us.

As a few have already said a right back would be my choice to bring in and there are a couple of players we brought in during the summer I would look to offload as well.

...what? this just isn't ever going to happen. who on earth would you suggest? Martina? Juanmi? The first I want to at least see what he can do (he's already a lot better than he ever looked at twente - which granted isn't difficult and he's still very average) given a few months (same goes for Caulker), and the second will develop over time, looking decent for U21s but probably not 100% up to playing in the league every week.

You're approaching this like it's a game of FIFA where you can just sell and buy like its the easiest thing in the world

Midfielders cover a lot more ground. Games are won and lost in midfield and you need more options. We showed against MK Dons that we have choices up front. I also don't see us paying Austin £75k a week. Bit worried about Cedric so would see how he gets on and maybe go for another RB as said above.

fair enough.

I think cedric will have the slot for this season. however, if he does not show much improvement, can definitely see saints going after someone better
