alehouseboys Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 Has Liverpool taken over Pompey as figures of hatred for you? Not a chance, no comparison in the slightest. One a big club that's really only p*ssed us off a bit in the past few years (like Spurs and Everton before) but no real rivalry. The other, a little club but due to geography and antics of their gobby fans a lifelong "hatred" is understandable.
Wes Tender Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 I bear Scousehampton little or no malice. On the other hand, I gain quite a bit of satisfaction at the way we constantly pull their pants down with the prices they pay for our players.

Huffton Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 Obviously not. Although i would love if liverpool did a pompey and overspent their way into administration

nta786 Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 No way, but will say Liverpool are now second on that list for mez Everton, Spurs, WHU and Brighton round off the top 6 clubs I dislike.
Crab Lungs Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 (edited) Nah - but there are similarities between the two disease-addled, delusional turd towns. For a start, both cities are famed for its quirky and unique residents; gap-toothed simpletons with a strong belief of their own self importance to the city, to the country and to the world. Both sets of fans, ironically also gap-toothed sinpletons, are willing to tell anyone and everyone just how big and important their clubs are, as well as how passionate they are. The local rags are mystifyingly deluded and likely plaigarise eachothers work; mainly centred around pandering to a large demographic of syringe-sticking, benefit-mopping, gap-toothed simpletons with a basic reading age of six and a capacity for short paragraphs and even shorter sentences. They both have an uncanny ability of always being the victims in any scenario and when they aren't endlessly boring the c()nting pants off you about their illustrious and distant history, they can be found endlessly bleating about how hard done by they are or have been. In reality, it's very different - they've escaped most major punishments they've deserved for their misdemeanours - either through a reluctance by authorities to deal with them as they would anyone else or tirelessly tirading against said authorities until a favourable outcome is reached. (I'm not referencing Hillsbrough before anyone accuses me of it btw) They're a nasty mix of noxious, self-pitying turds in a toxic wasteland and their clubs provide perfect escapism for gap-tooth simpletons too stupid or too unfortunate to support a club with morals and decency at its core. The stinking, rotten attitude and conduct of their respective clubs are succinctly mirrored by the odious, tiresome morons who follow their sh1tehouse clubs, with most displaying an admirably relaxed attitude towards racism, competition rules and a huge delusion of grandeur. "... and you'll never... walk... alone" I'd rather walk alone if it meant avoiding sharing a path, let alone a football club with you bunch of bin-dipping coooonts. Edited 22 July, 2017 by Crab Lungs

Lord Duckhunter Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 Great city, some of the nicest people I've ever met & I always have a great time visiting. No comparison with those half wits up the road. As for the football club, think Klopp's a twt & don't like the glory hunters they attracted, but the local supporters are pretty knowledgeable & fair. We've got a higher % of local supporting morons than they have imo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
saintadam Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 I hate Liverpool more. Pompey is off the map sporting wise.
Ohio Saint Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 Liverpool's nonsense will subside over time. Poopey are unflushable.
Master Bates Posted 22 July, 2017 Posted 22 July, 2017 I was at the General Hospital this morning and there was a skate there, Pompey shirt on in full view. I consider hospitals as neutral ground, so nothing was said.

Would be unthinkable that anyone gives him abuse but suspect that won't be the case.

Golden Balls Posted 23 July, 2017 Posted 23 July, 2017 Not a chance. Anyone who hates Liverpool more I can only assume are not from the Southampton area.
Black Sea Saint Posted 23 July, 2017 Posted 23 July, 2017 I remember when I was growing up (in the 80s) and I was one of the only kids at school with a Saints shirt, the rest were heavily Liverpool biased. Funny thing is I grew up near Southampton. At least Pompey fans support their local team (ha, there's no other reason to)

The9 Posted 23 July, 2017 Posted 23 July, 2017 Has Liverpool taken over Pompey as figures of hatred for you? Nah, just like Spurs didn't in the early 2000s. Then again, with Newport not playing them this season they'll go back to being a total irrelevance rather than somewhere I can pitch up to laugh at them again.
The9 Posted 23 July, 2017 Posted 23 July, 2017 Merseyside was looking quite good for anyone who has been following the Open Golf Championships this week, what a coastline, the aerial shots were beautiful. Tbf Birkdale is one of numerous areas outside Liverpool where football players choose to live rather than in the city itself. I seem to recall Hansen and Dalglish have both lived there. I have a few friends in the Southport area and one of them went to school with Kelly (nee Dalglish) Cates.

I agree, plus their tax payer funded city regeneration and attempt to to move some of the cruise trade up there. I really dislike the city, people, both football clubs and the sale of Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Clyne, Mane just makes it easier to dislike them even more.
St Chalet Posted 24 July, 2017 Posted 24 July, 2017 Crab Lungs take a bow son. That might well make a Golden Rants thread along with your Bucket Rattlers epic.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 24 July, 2017 Posted 24 July, 2017 To be fair I quite liked the City itself...got some nice history and they've smartened up the place. When you think of the money in the area, Southampton's visitor attractions are quite poor by comparison. The new West Quay area is a step in the right direction, but there's so little to see to commemorate or market the City and its history. Whatever happened to the monorail system that was talked about for example - innovative public transport to connect key areas of the City including SMS would attract tourists and generate interest. I could go on.
Sherminator Posted 24 July, 2017 Posted 24 July, 2017 1 - Poopey 2 - Liverpool 3 - Spurs 4 - West Ham 5 - Man U
dronskisaint Posted 24 July, 2017 Posted 24 July, 2017 Nah...Liverpool are just a nasty big club who can't buy and develop their own players Skates are beyond nasty and certainly not big.

Crab Lungs Posted 28 July, 2017 Posted 28 July, 2017 Best rant ever crab! Thank you, I think I just went on one again. My Bucket Rattlers one was probably the angriest contribution I've ever made though
saint1977 Posted 28 July, 2017 Posted 28 July, 2017 Liverpool is like Spurs was in early 2000s - particular manager (Hoddle) and one or two players. After he was sacked it subsided quickly. Man U is Liverpool's big rivalry and vice versa: always has been and always will be. Look at the astonishing bile both sides generate and Alan Smith's treatment (some people have forgotten about that). Everton there's some rivalry but very one sided, bit more spice these days but even when they were title rivals in the 1980s, it wasn't bad. Even City's new money hasn't elevated them as Man U's principle rivals. It's Mancs V Scousers. Can never see a rivalry with Liverpool over that distance developing or sustaining and not the deep-rooted cultural rivalries between two large cities that Manchester and Liverpool have. Whereas Southampton and Portsmouth, on a slightly smaller but no less nasty scale - that you can see re-igniting at some stage, particularly if Eisner manages to sort them out eventually. Perhaps with Brighton but I just think it's too far and they are too focused on Palace.
Sydenhampton Posted 31 July, 2017 Posted 31 July, 2017 No chance, that charity thieving lot down the road will always be our rivals, even if they do never (cheat again to) reach our level again. I'm over Liverpoo. Going there back in January and winning 1-0 was an excellent middle finger to them if ever there was one, especially with Lallana and Lovren on the pitch! Definitely one of those "I was there" moments. After the game we had a great night out on the town followed by a win in the casino, the locals were quite welcoming and gracious in defeat. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fond of that club by any way shape or form, but are they up there with ploppy? No, not even close.
