He played a large part of that season. And nobody, not even you, knows what the scores would have been had he not got injured.

Yes of course. If he's played more than a few games this season then he's a part of it.

Alternatively, he's a big part of the reason why we haven't gone up in the automatic places.....

Let's be honest, at the moment he's nowhere near good enough to be playing for us.  Also doesnt mean that he won't turn into a decent keeper, but he just simply doesnt save anywhere near enough shots to be considered competent at this level.

He does have a promotion to the Premier League on his CV.

He also got 22 caps international caps where he's made several clean sheets and a penalty save from RONALDO. He also has experience in a top 20 European league and a full season in the Premier league under his belt. In fact a top championship manager who has also managed in the Premier league and Champions league is on record as saying he's exactly the sort of keeper he'd want to sign.

He has far too many flaws to make it at any decent level imo, the main one being he doesn't save anything. I honestly believe he'd be just as good at CB / full back than he is in goal.

Good God no! We’d have probably lost 4-0 again, like we did with Bazunu against Leeds earlier on that season.

I can’t recall that 4-0 defeat. Can you help jog my memory.

Weird thing about Baz is that he seems to save the difficult ones and fluff the bread and butter stuff.

The second part, agreed.

You’re half right, I’ll give you that.

I thought this was a settled subject, but no there’s still a couple of Japanese soldiers willing to keep on fighting Baz’s corner. The most ridiculous being  that Baz has somehow contributed to us reaching the play offs. I guess he has, alongside Will Still & Damian Downes 😂😂. Well done, and thanks Baz, where would our season have ended without you…

Perhaps the excitement of the second half of the season has added a rose tint to the spectacles.

He makes the saves you’d least expect maybe 1 in 100.

He fluffs the bread and butter stuff almost every time.

I’ve said before that Alex McCarthy is better, but bloody hell it’s a low bar.

I’ve said before a wheelie bin would have a better shot/save ratio if you stuck it in the middle of the goal.

I read that the wrong way at first, like you speaking to a wheelie bin, and now I can’t get the image of a man arguing with wheelie bin’s out of my head.

Yeah they're an odd bunch down in Whiteley.

On a tree by a river a little tom-tit Sang "Willow, tit willow, tit willow" And I said to him, "Dicky-bird, why do you sit Singing 'Willow, tit willow, tit willow'" "Is it weakness of intellect, birdie?" I cried "Or a rather tough worm in your little inside" With a shake of his poor little head, he replied "Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow!" He slapped at his chest, as he sat on that bough Singing "Willow, tit willow, tit willow" And a cold perspiration bespangled his brow Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow He sobbed and he sighed and a gurgle he gave* Then he plunged himself into the billowy wave And an echo arose from the suicide's grave "Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow".

Love Peretz. My kind of keeper. Superb reflexes, supreme self-confidence…. & totally bonkers. Definitely something of the Boruc about him. Surely the best keeper in the Championship. If we can sign him up then we’re well on our way.

Don't stop there. I've been boasting to all my mates that he is the best keeper in Europe!

But that might be somewhat swayed by the fact I have gone from watching Bazunu to him each week...

Bloke is worth 10-15 points a season over Gav.
First part of the promotion jigsaw if he signs.

Yep.    It would be an immediate dividend on Dragan's promise to back a squad capable of winning promotion.   Would also go a long way to healing any remaining wounds (among Saints supporters) from the spygate fiasco.

We can give him the proper transfer window treatment by wheeling out a YouTube video of some of his best moments in goal this year

Yes. It would be a bit like the signing of Ricky Lambert when we were in League 1.

If he signed today Middlesbrough would probably pressure the EFL to sue us because the window doesn’t technically open for another week. 😂

Surely it’s only fair if he goes in goal for Boro for a bit? 46 league games for them, and we can use him in cups?

The Echo article is an absolute non story - we have an agreed fee in place as part of the loan, and if we have the money to sign him then ofc we'll be interested.... but so will many other clubs, and is he going to pick saints over them? There is a long way to go in any Peretz transfer move imho. Hope i'm wrong on that and its announced this week, but think its an easy thing to get hyped up over (given the rubbish of the past few weeks).

Read the article.  It says we’re in advanced talks with him and he wants to sign.

And it's relatively unusual for Alfie House to publish articles as definitive as this, ergo it must have originated from within the club, you'd have thought....

It certainly would be an impressive and somewhat surprising signing, I'd have thought he'd have other offers in the PL and abroad. It wouldn't be a bad way to start the transfer window.

Wasnt there an interview on social media where his Dad said earlier in the year that he would be signing for us?

Alfie’s dad is very well-informed then.

Bit of a premature thing to say, I'm not going to be allowing myself to think that till we actually sell the bloke.

I think Saints likely have an indication that a deal can be done for Ramsdale which is allowing us to push ahead with Peretz.

Ramsdale has done 2 of the 4 years on his contract so accountancy wise his book value is £10M now, hopefully we can sell him for at least £20M.

Alex Mccarthy is gone, wages off the books

Long returned to Norwich

Jamie Jones also gone

There's room for Bazunu perhaps to stay as back up if no buyer can be found

As there's such an overhaul in this dept. I think I'd prefer to keep McCarthy as 3rd choice - if he's happy with the role and wages.

Sell Baz or loan out. Sell Ramsdale.

1st - Peretz
2nd - New GK
3rd - McCarthy
4th - Young lad from the academy

The kid who was on loan in L2 seems to have done well last season.

It's good we've got someone semi-competent on the books. I would imagine though at his age, he needs games. Another loan to a League 1 side would probably benefit him more in his development than sitting on the bench competing for 2nd/3rd choice and maybe playing some cup games.

Brighton have done this well with Rushworth and Beadle.

Not so much of a kid any more - Ollie Wright is 23 or 24 now. He was very highly regarded at Acc Stanley last season.

Sounds like he’s prefect for a no.2 spot if we’re letting Ramsdale, McCarthy and Baz go. I can’t see any of them finding a place in our squad now.

Gavin Bazunu is the worst keeper in recent Saints history, absolutely shocking keeper, we'd have finished mid table at best with him in goal this season, he's had so many chances and in the end its down to him being a really poor top level goalkeeper, absolutely shite.
