Just spent 40 minutes booking my tickets for Wembley, can’t say I’m jealous that the Boro fans are booking themselves a day trip to the Skegness seaside this Saturday.

Don't kid yourself, they'll be glued to their screens watching us get promoted whilst convincing each other on their forum that Gibson himself will march on to the pitch to expel us before the final whistle.

I genuinely don’t think the club would be posting this stuff if they thought there was any chance of us being expelled from the final or if it was likely to be moved.

What's the difference between an agreed decision, an approved decision, and a decision?

WtF? Boro reporter saying the panel hearing is set for tomorrow? What the hell have they been doing all weekend?

Good tick tock tick tock, the further this gets in the week the less likely for the game to be changed

If that's true and time is clearly crucial here why would they wait until tomorrow to start this?

The only conclusion I can come to is they have read through the evidence and think it's an open and shut case that will take very little time to deliberate over. Which would mean one side has a very strong case.

At lunchtime I went over to Rockliffe and took some footage of empty training pitches from the footpath at the rear of the site...

...then I got back and saw the message saying that the players had turned up to train...

...so I have been back over to Rockliffe and sure enough the Middlesbrough team are out and training! They had a steward, security guard and member of MFC staff by the gate and the staff member said that I couldn't even stand there to watch because of all the national coverage.

Bearing in mind the distance from where we were stood to the players training I couldn't really make out who was there training, but I asked if it was the first team and he confirmed it was.

Assuming there is still a restriction on SaintsWeb of three posts a day, this is my last post, but if it seems worth it, I may post my earlier photos/video footage later, showing the view that can be gleaned from the other side of the training pitch and why I think any spy would have been better spying over there!

Surely the panel would have been earning at least double time for working on a Sunday? Bit of an oversight if they’ve missed out on that 🤦‍♂️

I think given the time constraints and thats going on over the media, they would just get it done and dusted sooner if it was?

Latest update in the Northern Echo

In ordinary circumstances, it could take an independent commission up to a fortnight to publish their judgement along with the written explanations for their findings.

Given that the Championship play-off final is due to take place on Saturday, though, the hope is that the verdict in this case will be issued within 24 hours of the hearing taking place. Written conclusions will then be published later in the summer.

The judgement will initially be delivered to the two legal teams involved in the case, before being more widely released.

Both the EFL, who are effectively mounting a case on Middlesbrough’s behalf, and Southampton, as the defending party, have a right of appeal against the judgement. An appeal would almost certainly mean that Saturday's final would have to be rescheduled.

Given that the ticket sales went ahead on Friday, and I'm currently in a queue for mine, I'd suggest both clubs have been privately told that expulsion isn't on the cards - so just to carry on with this as normal. Otherwise this will be an absolute mess of refunds and lost money.

There's no chance we'd both be selling tickets today if we were getting booted out.

Makes sense but the 24 hours means the judgement will fed back on Weds.

THE Independent Disciplinary Commission hearing into the ‘Spygate’ scandal is due to take place tomorrow, with a judgement set to be released at the earliest possible opportunity with a written verdict to follow at a later date.

A three-person panel will rule on allegations that a Southampton employee spied on a Middlesbrough training session ahead of the first leg of the play-off semi-final.

The EFL have charged Southampton with breaching two of their regulations, the first of which requires clubs to act towards each other with “the utmost good faith” and the second of which explicitly prohibits clubs from “observing or attempting to observe” a training session “within 72 days of a scheduled match between the two clubs”.

The independent commission can impose a number of potential penalties if Southampton are found guilty, ranging from a fine at one end of the scale to expulsion from the play-offs at the other.

Middlesbrough issued a statement on Friday spelling out their position, which is that if Southampton are found guilty of breaking the EFL’s rules, “the only appropriate response is a sporting sanction which would prevent Southampton FC from participating in the EFL Championship play-off final”.

In ordinary circumstances, it could take an independent commission up to a fortnight to publish their judgement along with the written explanations for their findings.

Middlesbrough’s players and coaching staff were given time off at the weekend, with head coach Kim Hellberg having made a brief return to his homeland in Sweden with his family.

However, Hellberg was back at Rockliffe Park today with his coaches and the whole of Boro’s first-team squad to continue their preparations for a possible appearance in the play-off final against Hull City.

A training schedule has been planned for the rest of week, but can easily be adapted if the EFL are forced to postpone Saturday’s game and rearrange it for an alternative date and/or venue.

While the current uncertainty is far from ideal, senior Boro figures are confident the club’s players will be ready and prepared for whatever is asked of them if they are reinstated into the play-offs and Southampton are expelled.

I thought EFL were pursuing the matter as we’d infringed their regulations, rather than as a matter on behalf of Middlesbrough.

Not only that, but there will be a desire to not invoke an appeal. Given Boro have no right to appeal, the bias will likely be in Saints favour to an extent. No expulsion…almost certainly a fine of <£1m…potential points deduction, but deferred for a period of time based on good behaviour.

Would the efl risk that? If we succeeded in any appeal but the game had already been played they'd be on the hook for hundreds of millions.

You can bet your boots that there have and will be 'informal' discussions amongst the affected parties. Probably in a toilet cubicle somewhere.Something along the line of "How would you feel about..."

Full write up will be at least a month away I reckon.

Only released the one for the WBA point deduction a few days ago I think.

Rubbish, the hearing has been going on since Friday. This is a very urgent matter, they would not be meeting tomorrow and have their decision the same day. Crazy talk.

Surely the EFL won't dispute if it's a points and fine ruling? They'll be pissing off 90000 (or 45000) EFL fans if so.

Correct. The Northern Echo reporter is just making shit up. They are not acting on behalf of Boro at all. That's just how this hack wants to frame it with their readers.

Oh don’t get me wrong, they would not have worked weekend! But Friday and today with the decision tomorrow. This is my joining of the dots only of course! But you cannot say something is urgent and then leave it 5 days the week before the final! Then meet, go through all the evidence, make a conclusion and publish the results all in a few hours. Something smells fishy!

Out of interest… why would you give a verdict, then not release the written findings until later?

The full written findings would probably take quite a while to write-up, be reviewed for accuracy by all parties to ensure no factual errors, redaction of sensitive material etc. whereas given the time pressure here - the immediate verdict/sanctions needs to be communicated way beforehand.
