Is Tonda's contract until the end of this season? 1

Even if the time were right for him he would not come to us as some stand in. It would have to be the job itself and that would only be the case if Tonda gets a long ban - 4 months or more I would guess.

My best bet is someone is speculating....lets face it "he is banned" covers a multitude of scenarios he has a 1 game ban, 2 game ban, 1 month ban, 2 month ban, 6 month ban etc etc. We can all claim to know the outcome by saying he's banned! 1

Patrick Bateman Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Someone wake me up when the FA have stopped eating cake and marvelling at their latest overhead projector with bits of plastic you can write on. What a revelation I hear them say. I like Eckert as a manager, I think he'll have a great career, but this is just tedious now. Let's get the ban sorted, appoint someone else and move on. Just not Rob Edwards or Ron Atkinson. Thanks. 1 1

That would be the sensible approach, but that's not really the SR way. None of the managers they've hired have really followed on directly in style from the one before. (Ralph) > Jones > Selles > Martin > Juric > Still > Tonda Not really any pattern there at all. I suppose you could argue that because they all ended up getting sacked, that it was 'time for change' at each point the next new manager came in, but each one basically started from scratch in terms of playing style, regardless of personnel. That's why if the ban means they go down the caretaker route I think it will be Lallana and Garner for some sort of continuity. If we need a new permanent manager, god knows what happens. Could be anyone. Edited 9 hours ago by Midfield_General 1

I reckon he'd have a good case for taking legal action for restricting his ability to make any money for that period of time. I've been expecting him to be banned so we have to sack him for a while so not a huge shock if true but that really would be an eye raising amount of time.
Pamplemousse Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Any sort of total ban would be ludicrous but 18 months and the FA loses all credibility as a serious organisation 3

There is absolutely no point giving him a significant sanction as that is only a serious punishment for the club... if we are forced to let him go he walks straight into a good job in Germany... very hard to see any sanction like that as anything other than a triple punishment on saints, and you would imagine we would make hay in the media to that effect The other part of all this that rarely gets mentioned, is the LMA may get involved. Anything other than a short touchline ban is OTT. Edited 9 hours ago by Saint86 2

die Mannyschaft Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Why is Tonda at Wembley couldn't they just call him or WhatsApp. Is he playing in the FA execution final v Cardinal Wolsley. Can you imagine a Boro striker being the executioner he would miss the head with axe 21 times then Tonda gets a reprive 1
Ken Tone Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Surely no one any good will come in as an interim? The only short-term appointment likely would be internal - eg Lallana . The Telegraph says we're considering Rob Edwards if necessary, ie to replace Tonda at short notice. He'd surely want *at least* a year's contract.

Either way we’re a good candidate for promotion, somebody like Edwards could do with a bit of credit in the bank after an up and down few years. If Edwards (or another) was told you get until the end of the season and we have some money left to spend in January so you can supplement the squad. Maybe? If they take us up they’re possibly managing in the prem. if we don’t go up but go close they’re hardly likely to take too much flack in the context. You could frame it as a free-ish hit with plenty stacked in their favour. FWIW I don’t mind Edwards based on ability as a coach but I would be curious if he could adapt his playing style successfully or he would expect the team to mould to him. We haven’t been perfect this season but we play some good stuff and don’t look far off it. I would want anybody coming in to offer mostly continuity. If we’re throwing names out isn’t Steve Cooper out of work? He did a wonderful job after being parachuted in at Forest. 1
