As Baird of the Land suggests though, if it’s a midfield three of JWP, Bragg and Downes, essentially you’ve got a recycling midfield and just one running player in Scienza.   The balance looks wrong.

They'll play 433 so a strong midfield which we will need to match. As you say, our problem is that we are top heavy with ball recyclers and short of players who will drive the team forward. I'd prefer Downes as the anchor with two more offensive midfielders but we just don't have the personnel for that and hence I think we're in for some games where we get bogged down and the fans become frustrated. Our midfield options are inbalanced for me.

How about, and go with me on this.... we try someone like Stephens in midfield?

He would be like a Makalele/Pirlo hybrid...pinging the ball around and just dominating midfield for 90 minutes. Not sure why this hasn't been mentioned before.

That's been tried, I was a big advocate at the time...... it was a disaster, a useful reminder that you need pace, sound judgement, and quick feet to play in midfield. As I remember Jack was bypassed with ease.

I hope we see Bragg, JWP, and Downes starting today. Be good to see the midfield controlled. Forwards will have to work hard though.

Yep. Apart from Wood, Fellows and Manning.

So not even close.

Wood has been better than people give him credit for, him and Schlott should be our first choice pairing unless Abbott looks incredible in training or the odd rotation appearance.

Wood is absolutely awful - no where near the standard required - cost us 2 points on Saturday and will no doubt cost us tonight

Let's be honest we have no idea how good this Abbott bloke is.

Sorry to go back this. Can somebody help me.

met a bloke who was linesman, often ran the line at the Dell in Lauries time, 1970s.

who was the Hungarian player in the first team back then. ?

the great Ivan Golac and keeper Katalinic were from then Yugoslavia if that’s who you’re thinking of.

Swansea playing in red and blue stripes against us tonight? That'll be fun

Surely they play in all white don't they?

Not according to their team graphic

Would be ridiculous if they wear that kit considering there is no clash with their all white strip.

Probably the strongest line up bar Jander. Fellows over Matuski is probably a case of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other but other than that, strongest team.

If that first XI have aspirations of promotion, they frankly need to show it. Starting tonight.

That could have been the conclusion of our recruitment team. I wonder if they said the same about Mubama?

No, Eckert cost us 2 points by bringing him on as an extra CB and causing chaos in the shape/formation.

Why would you do that? You had to go and ruin it for us all 😅

There is another fundamental issue which is we have stopped hunting the ball back in packs and other teams are doing to us…We are doing a lot of standing and watching which is so much less effective than last season when we were playing well.

Do not agree with the starting eleven. Would have picked Wellington over Manning and Mazuki over Fellows.

Can only mean we win.
