Fonte Transfer Rumours

Me too. The Championship was great. Was gutted when we dropped to L1 but looking back that was far more entertaining than the Premiership, the club selling half the team at the end of each season and lying to the fans that it's all part of a 'bigger plan'. I don't buy into that at all.

So it would have been far better if we had had a rubbish team in L1 or the Championship and not been successful for the past seven seasons - that way we would not have to be disappointed every season....great logic. If you yearn for lower league football and a guaranteed lack of future success can I suggest you look in an Easterly direction.

This is windmill-arms flailing about say-anything trolling, it really is.

Desperate stuff.

Did he not? I thought he had. Makes it worse then if his performance on Saturday was anything to go by he wants out too.

Cedric played virtually **** all part in pre-season, which I'd suggest is a much more plausible reason for any below par performance. Don't let that stop you from acting like a tit though eh?

It is concerning that the club flaunt this "Southampton Way" which is meant to be so important, and yet it seems so many of our best players don't buy into it or believe the club's ambition is achievable.

Here's a question I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts on. If Dimitri Payet played for Saints, and had the same season he had for WHU/France, would we have been able to keep hold of him like West Ham have? My honest thought is no, and that is worrying.

We have to trust in the club though. Like it or not, this is the business plan so we all may as well get on board.

Oh ffs, we have just secured 6 of our first team to new long term contracts with hopefully Cedric to follow.

If Fonte wants to go, more fool him. Is he really going to get much playing time at United and how much goodwill will he have burnt with Saints once his career finishes?

He signed a new improved contract only 9 months ago and now he wants to break it? Sod him, tell him he's going nowhere and let him rot on the bench as he will have no sellable value once his contract ends anyway.

Don't worry folks Jack Schitt has spoken

My usual way of acquiring Saints info, is me texting my source to ask if there's anything new they can tell me yet. Occasionally, it works the other way, and they call me to volunteer it without prompting. As happened whilst I was at the beach this evening. That usually means it is something the Club themselves actively wants out there, unofficial like, via random looney "bull****ters" like yours truly. ;) No blowback that way. So probably take it in that vein.

My friend said that with a lot of rumours and uncertainty circulating around Jose Fonte in the last few days, they wanted to clarify a few things. Firstly, there has been NO official bid from Everton. Doesn't know where that one came from. As of the last they knew this evening -- there has also been NO official bid from Utd, or anyone else either. It is all coming from the Agent Mendes

Secondly, about Jose himself: he arrived back from winning the European Championship understandably "with his head in the clouds" -- [At least it wasn't in Liverpool] ;) -- and it "still hasn't re-emerged yet".

He was offered a renegotiated contract which was effectively simply a pay rise to make him the highest earner at the Club, with an optional one year extention at the Club's discretion to his current deal, which expires in 2018. He indicated he would be delighted to extend, "sort it out with my agent", and went off on his extended post-Euro's holiday.

When he arrived back at the Club, it was clear that he was having some mental difficulties in adjusting. Naturally, having just become a European Champion, he was still floating on cloud nine -- but it seems to have all gone to his head. And stayed there.

His recent instagram post being a great example of his current mindset. He is "love-struck" with his own success, and can't stop thinking about it. There is no "falling out" -- but Jose has completely lost his focus. It was much more for this reason that he did not start the last game, rather than fitness issues. He is not in the right frame of mind to Captain the team right now, and you can't put the captain out there, without wearing the armband.

We were very confident until a few days ago that Jose would sign his new deal, but the agent has been playing games. Using so called "interest" [real or imagined] from "big clubs" to increase Fonte's value and secure a better deal, for both Jose and Agent Mendes himself.

This has further destabilised Jose's frame of mind. Fonte has NOT told the Club he wants to leave -- and has indeed repeatedly said himself he is very happy at the Club.

Essentially, Jose's International success has screwed with his mind, and he is simply not mentally focussed sufficiently to play. We are hopeful that it is a short-term blip, that he'll simply snap out of -- this being so completely out of character for Jose, who is usually the consummate model professional. Club will do everything in our power keep him, sort his head out, and finalise his yet another new contract.

At present, there is no problem in that regard with Fonte acting like a knob or anything, but if any serious bids do arrive, no-one knows exactly how he will react. Club are adamant that he must stay, but if he does kick off about it, and we get another exorbitant offer for a 32 year old defender, then we'll have to wait and see what happens.

At this point, as far as we are concerned -- he will be a Saint when the window closes. We're very hopeful he'll get his head sorted out soon, and sign the new deal, which was pretty much done until this "supposed interest" arrived to bump up the figures being asked for by Jose's agent to sign.

That's about all I have for now. Sorry it is not exactly all "great news" to share, but my source felt it was something that needed to be clarified. So as always, I pass it on in good faith. "Bull****" or otherwise.

[emoji38] so Fonte has had some sort of mental breakdown since winning a tournament. Surely no one actually believes that complete sh*te?

Its like when you want to leave the workers paradise of East Germany or North Korea - they cant believe it so get you diagnosed :D

My source told me that Jose has demanded that all players and staff now use call him "Sua Majestade" or, for those who get the Portuguese pronunciation wrong, just "The Champion". He will not answer to any other name. Also drinking Gatorade out of a silver goblet which is a scale model of the European Championship trophy. He is expecting to sign for Real Madrid or Everton by the end of the week.

That post above from Jack Schitt is complete and utter categorical bull ****.

Where in the hell does he get this stuff from.

That is potentially libelous at a bare minimum and that fella will land himself in hot water.

Whatever we all say, it's virtually killing us all and I bloody well wish .saints would help dry up and get the whole argument settled. After the money on players Southampton have made quibbling over a few quid here and there is xxxxing senseless.

WE NEED TO MOVE ON!

Who is quibbling over a few quid?

Haven't we just given new contracts to several key players who all seemed happy at saints?

Jack Schitt waffles on more than my snap dragon . FFS get to the point man . He could bore for England , and I seriously doubt the sanity of his " mate" at the club . Imagine having to take him for a drink or call him up , **** me just to leak club snippets , I pity the bloke who has that job . I bet his phone bills sky high

Interesting - I am very much not ITK, however I heard a very similar story from a source I would tend to believe.

If we were a London based club who had just been given a huge new stadium for bare minimum cost then it would make it a hell of a lot easier to pay players higher wages and keep hold of them, but we've managed to get Van Dijk, Forster, Bertrand, Tadic to stay on after fantastic seasons.

Interestingly Payet scored 9 goals and got 12 assists last season in 30 starts, Tadic got 7 goals and 12 assists in 27 starts. And Tadic is younger.

I'd be willing to bet that our stadium costs us less than West Ham's. Our's was paid for when we came out of admin, and Aviva got their extra cash bonus when we got back to the PL.

The interesting bit will be whether the money they receive for selling Upton Park goes to the club or the porn barons. Most clubs use the money they get for selling their old stadium, usually in a valuable area, to build the new one. That's the real advantage that West Ham got, but they'll only benefit if the money for UP stays in the club.

WHU got a rumoured £20m for the land and this was largely reported to be used to help pay down a £35 million bank debt West Ham had to clear before they moved into the Olympic Stadium.

Rent is £2.5m per year (99 year lease) with various add ons. Interestingly rent is halved if WHU are relegated

Alpine, Jack Schit is full of schit. Once you have been shown up for being full of schit, "cry wolf" comes to mind. I in fact think that this time what he says, although probably highly embellished, is plausible and I previously mentioned that Jorges Mendes most likely sees Man Utd as being somewhat more important than little old Southampton. AR10 saying it is potentially libellous, well, I would have to disagree with that as nothing defamatory was written. He (presuming AR10 is a he) might disagree with it and it might well be wrong, as who really knows what goes on behind closed doors, but being wrong and being defamatory aren't the same thing. Carrying on with the clichés, no smoke without fire comes to mind. OK, with transfers there actually is a lot of smoke without fire, but it tends not to go on for this long.

Man, this s(h)ite has declined. Jack Schitt's explanation, that Jose is on cloud nine and his agent is exploiting it and his success - is perfectly plausible, yet he is abused for posting it.

What is wrong with you lot ???

Truth hurts mate and negativity of any kind is denied on here - its been that way for years

Its easier for people to believe Fonte is Saints through and through and would never be persuaded to leave our warm cosy bubble

Fonte is the same as every footballer - motivated by money. He proved that when he dropped down a division (and doubled his wages) to join us from Palace

I actually agree with Alpine. It is perfectly plausible.

Unfortunately, it doesn't fit with other posters ideals so will be shouted down as bulls bit as it isn't what they want to hear. If I had a taste of success, I can honestly say that I would want more. Nothing wrong in that. I think we all need to accept that footballers are people too and have the same urges, feelings and emotions as the rest of us. Ignore that the players are currently part of our club, try a little empathy and think how you yourselves would react. Honestly, when did we, as Saints fans and SWF users become so damned precious *generalisation for the sake of my point, in no way am I saying the whole fan base are to be categorised in the same way*

Why are people taking any notice of what Jack Schitt posted? It's not because it's negative, he just chats ****. Remember all the bull about Pellegrini? Why can't everyone see the clear WUM at play here...?

It's probably Saint Charlie. Or should I say 9-3, or is that Slugger, or Saint Richmond? Depends how he feels on the day i guess. (people who have multiple logins have mental issues)

I like this line of thought. If there was a younger and better CB, do you not think that Man Utd would be wanting to buy him instead?

No, you're right, there's no younger and better CB's out there that are better than an average Fonte.

Not sure if you've ever followed Jose, but he always plays with an experienced CB, whether that be Carvalho, Terry, Lucio etc, and that's what they want. An old head.
