And he does a lot more than just get the goals. But which of the ones below Arma in the list is closer to 6 ft "athletic profile" and wants to be part of a prolific partnership and whose club will take a good cash offer in January, that is what Saints need to identify. Arma needs a foil, Archer is not the correct profile so it's either find the right match in the Championship or get Che back from Italy. (BTW very suspicious number of PR planted items about Che and his time at Saints cropping up lately). Edited 10 December, 2025 by HnycS Timeframe
CB Fry Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 Some of his finishes in recent games have been majestic and at other times in his career he would have fluffed all of them. Well done Arma and the manager. Brilliant. 3

Well done Arma and the manager. Brilliant. Exactly, his first goal yesterday was really tidy - a little dink finish. The 2nd one was really well directed too, like an arrow. Good movement to boot. He's a confidence player, but he also does thrive on space. That's less forgiving in the PL and it's harder for him to stand out, so his confidence takes a battering up there - and he loses his instinctiveness, which is there when he's confident. 1

At the moment we are playing in a very quick on the floor counter attacking way that suits him it’s definitely the right way to use him. In the past we have always whinged about not having a big strong cf to hold up play but we are currently playing in a way we don’t need that 1
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 had to laugh, on the Baggies match day thread they couldn't believe how good he was - comments like "How come he couldn't hit a barn door when he was playing for us and now look at him"
Willo of Whiteley Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 I said a few months back what an excellent player he is in this division. Future Ballon d’Or winner.
bpsaint Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 Thank fuck we didn’t let him go this summer. 1

In the past we have always whinged about not having a big strong cf to hold up play but we are currently playing in a way we don’t need that I'm of the opinion that for a player that gets as many goals assists and has a great workrate, he deserves the chance should we get there. We've gone through so many systems and managers, I'd be happy enough to see how it works out. Not very ruthless, considering how the last couple of PL campaigns have gone. But I like to see players rewarded with the chance. And some decent SR reinforcements.
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 Definitely rated in the Championship. Can't believe he is still only 28! His confidence seems to have definitely increased from the beginning of the season and credit to Tonda for facilitating it.
saintstowin Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 He's been great and I'm really pleased for him. And playing to his strengths is key. He was unsurprisingly ineffective with balls in the air and took unfair flak. I always hoped he could make it work in the middle because for a while he was taking up a space out wide. And although he did well there in the last championship season, we needed Fellows to come good this time. AA is a striker so it's brilliant for us and him that he's coming good, again.

Good point, early season was impacted by the crazy tactics of high balls into him. Not his fault.
Sheaf Saint Posted 13 December, 2025 Posted 13 December, 2025 Can we please take him off penalties now? 1/5 this season is shocking. 1

We’ve had five penalties this season? Agree with the sentiment though, his pens are all medium pace, waist height and apparently easy to read in terms of direction.

Actually I think the 1/5 that he's scored might stretch back further than the start of this season. I can't be arsed to go through the match reports of every game to check.

Yeah, they are very "safe" penalties that assume the keepers goes the wrong way.

If Armstrong had been watching he'd have seen the keeper leaning to his left in his run up. A decent penalty taker can adjust quickly and slot it in the other side. 1

When the ball comes to him on in the edge of the box and he's decided he's gonna leather it, he's incapable of recognising better options and changing his mind. Same with penalties. He makes up his mind which way he's going, and even if the keeper telegraphs which way he's gonna go, like today, he can't do anything other than what he had already decided to do.
Saint86 Posted 13 December, 2025 Posted 13 December, 2025 He's a very average penalty taker, i think this is not news to the fans - But it is mad that he is still our penalty taker after all this time. If there is no one better than him in the squad then we're going to be in serious trouble if we ever wind up in a penalty shoot out 😰

Top scorer in the league. His penalties aren’t great, but he's a better striker than nearly everyone else at this level. 1
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 26 December, 2025 Posted 26 December, 2025 What's happened to him?! Gone right off it and non existent for the last 2 and a half games.
Dr Who? Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Rumours are that AA was being disruptive in the changing room. Sounds weird 😂
Lighthouse Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Confirmed gone. Seems like a bat sh*t mental decision, mid-season to me. Especially as we know he wont do anything for them until they've gone down a league. Thanks for Wembley, Adam! 4

Personally I don’t think that’s the case. But the other side is he was a decent striker at this level, very adaptable across the front three, scored some exceptionally key goals for us two years ago, and never kicked up a fuss publicly like some of our players have. Good luck to him, thanks for Wembley 👏🏻👍🏻 Edited 4 hours ago by Willo of Whiteley 3

LGTL Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It’s such a pathetic decision to sell your top goalscorer in the middle of the season. Truly mental, and proof that they’ve already wrote the season off. Cunts. 4
Saint_clark Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Wolves prepping for next season already. Not even a huge fee really.

SNSUN Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Thanks Adam for at least helping us to promotion two seasons ago and Wembley. And yet I'm not unhappy with this sale - it's the risky nature of who we have brought in to replace him. We just have to hope that Stewart, or Larin, or even Archer, can score some goals before the end of the season because we can't keep relying on Azaz or Scienza to get them all. Summer transfer business better be bloody good.

Never been his biggest fan (his bow celebration in particular annoys me for some reason), but can't deny he knows where the net is at this level. He will undoubtedly score multiple goals against us next season. Having said that, we've shown on a few occasions this season that we know how to win without him. SNSUN Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I always thought of him as more of a goalscoring winger anyway. He was never one to lead the line and it seems the tall striker is the path we're choosing. I hope that means we're sticking with the 4231 for the forseeable, we look much better with that shape. Must be gutting for Wolves fans that they're prepping for next season. And yet there was us, last season, signing Gronbaek that we barely ever played.
Harry_SFC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Normally I'd be gutted to be losing our top scorer but I can't say that I am on this occasion. His goal return at this level is very decent but despite that I just don't really rate him. 1

spyinthesky Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago There was suggestion that Wolves were also trying to sign Che Adams which could be interesting next season if he signs for Wolves in the summer
die Mannyschaft Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago One of the best out and out strikers Saints have had. Legend status with playoff final goal v Leeds. Saints will never see another player get 24 goals in a season with thier idiotic tactics and team subs. Oh well let's see if anyone can match is goal tally. 1 1 3

I’m sorry that’s not true he is nowhere near Davies, Channon, Chivers, McDougall, Boyer , Pahars, Beattie, Pelle, Phillips, Crouch he was decent but one of the best? SR will go and we will rise again the club belongs to the fans not these idiots. 2
Saint Pete Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Good player with a decent scoring record at this level, so we will miss him given that we don't have any others who can score regularly. I would have preferred to see him play more often in the wide positions rather than as a single central striker, but that wasn't his fault, more due to managers and club not signing other decent central strikers.

Chez Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago i wont remember him for his championship goals, i will remember him failing in the PL which contributed to us get regelated so he could play at his level. 5
Pwoite Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago When Alfie House suggested that there were a number of players who were being disruptive, he added Arma as a possible. Yet Armstrong was team captain up until four matches ago. What happened? Was something said or done in the frank conversations after the Hull game? Did the situation get out of hand or were bridges burnt then? Immediately, there were rumours that Armstrong wanted out, and the club has done, apparently, nothing to keep him here. There must be a story behind this. What did happen?

HarvSFC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Surprised he passed his medical given the knock he suffered. 1 3
LuckyNumber7 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Really mixed feelings on this. Feel like I should be gutted but I'm not. Was very good in our promotion season and will always be remembered for the winner at Wembley. But aside from that he's largely been very poor. Even this season he had a good purple patch but in his last 10 games has zero goals and 1 assist. Misses far too many. With his age and only 18 months left on his contract it feels like the right time to sell, he's on the downslope of his career. Always gave his all though. I'm more relieved that we finally seem to have realised we need more physical presence up front. 2
