Well at least they've acted a lot sooner than they did with Martin. Hope against hope that they've learnt something. I liked Will a lot more than Martin or the Welsh knob, so a bit gutted it didn't work out for him but with the squad at his disposal it should have been a lot lot better than it was. Shame

Until the goalkeeping and centre forward positions are sorted out properly, along with certain ‘senior’ players behaving like professional adults, the second half of the season will be as grim as the first. 

I do feel quite sad because Still is a decent bloke, we've just fucked him over by putting him in an absolute boiling pot. The recruitment didn't help him either.

We'll see where he goes next, but the sacking of him shows up our ownership more than it does him. I have no ills against him.

Ekert may be one for the future but this could easily derail his career, which is something we do quite well ( Jones, possibly Selles, and Still). 

Selles mistake about to be repeated if that’s the case. Along with repeating the Carrillo mistake with Onachu. And before SR/Reed, Lowe with Gray/Wigley.

In the case of Southampton Football Club, stupid does as stupid says.

Yeah, whilst those doing the hiring and the firing are still here and taking absolutely no responsibility we just sit back and await the next disaster. Can't help feeling a little bit sorry for Will Still and the next cannon fodder who takes his place. SR should go as well but we know that can't and won't happen now but it is inevitable that they'll have to go eventually unless we want no football club to support.

Spors has at least got some gems in Scienza and Jander so maybe his boy Eckert is the one.

Eckert is also even younger than Will Still. I think he'll be our youngest ever manager (interim included) unless I'm wrong about that.

Never should have been appointed. 

It clearly wasn't getting better and was never going to. There was no style of play of tactics. His substitutions proved that. Nice guy but too young and inexperienced. as I've said before. You don't buy the likes of Fellows and Azaz and somehow make them unrecognisable from their former selves.
Also, Bree and Smallbone are both doing well away from the club which suggests a complete lack of mismanagement. 

It what's next that worries me. I'm hearing RH is coming back which wouldn't be the end of the world but he was never the same manager after Rohl left, and then there's those two 9-0 defeats.

100% agree. I don't know what it is, but it runs deep. No one one the field has given a shit for at least 5 years now - that doesn't seem normal to me?

A sigh of relief from me.

Coupled with a little sadness: he seemed a decent guy, and a risky but potentially clever appointment. It's a shame it didn't work out. Really hope he learns from this experience and goes on to have a successful career.

Okay.... time to look forward with optimism.

I get what you mean (basically the players are shite as well as him) but I’m prepared to bet A LOT of money that that useless twat will never manage in the Prem.

What about a former player - who was part of a solid team in solid times. Defender/DM maybe? Someone who would bleed for the club. If nothing else to get this squad of powder puffs with a bit of steel in them….

I dont like 'i told you so' posts, but when he was appointed back in July/August I was saying it was a stupid appointment. He had no relevent experience, 8th in a poor French league FFS ? Idiotic.

Just hope we appoint someone with experience and a record of winning.

I know little about Eckert. However he got his A License less than a year ago and as several have said, he’s even younger than WS. Our club is more of a basket case now than when WS took over. Now is not the time for Eckert

Ralph was at the Bristol City game. Perhaps he wasn't just seeing his mate.

Personally, I'd have him back in a heartbeat. You need a strong manager, and if he says I will come back but on my terms, there's hope.

I'd rather have somebody who hasn't played for us before, who's picked because of his track record as a manager, either in the UK or abroad.

You can just see that happening. A good early appointment to see us through to the end of the season then we start floundering again and they sack him to try to avoid relegation a couple of weeks after the January window closes (when we buy a new striker but he gets injured after a week.)

I’ll tell you one thing - you’ll spend a LOOOONG time searching the internet until you find a less enthusiastic reaction to the sacking of such a one star manager of a football team. That’s what these wanker owners have done to us. I fucking hate them.

Agree, but barring a thumping at QPR and a threadbare Sheff Weds winning at SMS that’s clearly not what SR are going to do.

As mentioned above, this is nailed on for 4/6 points from the next two games, and a permanent appointment of Eckert in time for the international break. Fucking hideous.
