Lampard singling out us as a threat in his post match interview.... We're playing well but surely too far adrift of Coventry...?!

TBH I’m supporting Coventry in every game they play. Them thumping everyone they play, except us obviously, is in our best interests. They can run away with the league, I don’t care, but tonight they did us a big favour in keeping second place within reach.

I agree. Coventry are too far ahead now, even if we do the double over them, but I think we can finish runners-up and if we can keep Eckert next season, we'll stay in the Premier League. That sort of success would make it very hard to hang onto him though, which would be gutting as I've been waiting for a manager like him my whole life as a Saints fan.

Happy to admit that I was completely wrong about Eckert. Transformed the team over the international break. We did to Leicester and Charlton what Bristol City, Hull etc. did to us earlier in the season.

It has been years since we played with such intent and dominance going forward. I would say it predates SR. It's not because we've just found our scoring boots all of a sudden either. Our movement up the pitch and passing is now a lot quicker and unpredictable and we were dragging the Leicester defence all over the place. Whereas, under Still we were very static, players would kill the ball dead and others off the ball would stand still and get marked out of the game. Our forwards were shooting in congested boxes, whereas now they're getting time in the opposition box. He's also getting the best out of Fellows and Azaz who didn't become bad players overnight after joining us, while he also seems to be getting some joy out of Armstrong as a centre forward, when he's seemed like a blunt force when played upfront for a few years now.

Can't not give him the job now. 3 points off fourth. Today's performance was so complete. Up the Saints.

The more I think about the game, the more I truly believe Eckhert absolutely schooled Jones. He knew exactly how Jones was going to set up his team and knew exactly how best to utilise our players to achieve a result, although I doubt even he could have expected such a fantastic result. Recognising that AA’s experience and ability could be utilised by dropping back and feeding others was a stroke of genius. Faster transition of the ball forwards was something we’ve been crying out for but thought the players were not capable of - they clearly are but needed the coaching to unlock that ability. Tuesdays game will be telling, but my money is on Eckhert finding a way for us to win or at the very least draw.

Called it. Eckhert’s the real deal.

Scienza just got asked about Eckert on Sky:

It's the decision of the big guys but we are happy with Tonda. He's doing a great job and he's a great character as well. Who can do better than four wins in four games? Give the man the job.

THB was also full of praise for Tonda. Just give him the job

We should be appointing a manger the players don’t like ffs

Not something he was doing five years ago in fairness. I think he’s just trying to be thoughtful now he knows he’s in the top job and people are listening.

What is the coaching setup/personnel with Tonda? Is it much the same as Will had or have some u21 coaches come with him. They also need credit for the upturn in form.

If the team's form and results continue as has been the case since Tonda has been in charge, definitely give him the job until the end of the season with a decent bonus if we go up.
However part of me thinks that the team are getting the rub of the green, which wasnt the case under Still.
The first goal would have been ruled out for offside in the Prem and possibly the second.
The Ref was on our side too, especially with the second goal when Leicester could have had a free kick in the move which led to Azaz scoring.
Downes could easily have been sent off for his rash challenge later in the game.
All that said, how nice it was to walk away from the game with a spring in my step!!

Ben Reeves (Remember him?) is one of his assistants.

Interesting, I hadn't realised his CV - background in the "Red Bull style" and Bayern Munich, plus that Rose fella ...

That's a pretty good coaching foundation from my limited understanding.

U21s coaches. All of Still's team have gone. Lallana now u21s, presumably with no support coaching staff.

The guy seems to be a workaholic. Asked by the Echo if he bumps into fans around the city he replied no because he is spending most of his time at Staplewood and generally has 3 meals a day there 🙂

At the press conference for the Leicester game he was asked how he had enjoyed the last 48 hours - his response - I started to watch Leicester games as soon as I got home from the Charlton game.

We are now close to reaching a Tonda Accord on Saintsweb.

Tonda might be the "power of dreams" But he could also quickly turn into the power of nightmares especially if it's another long term contract.... The sensible thing would to be interim manager for the rest of the season do well and you will be made permananly next season with a bonus!

And why exactly would he do that?  He'll already be in demand due to his short tenure here so we would run the risk of losing him.  He will be our next manager and rightly so.  He's earned the gig

You can predict the uproar when he joins Stuttgart, or someone in Germany in May as he wasn't on a three year contract here.

Grossly unfair on Tonda. Looks more fitting for Lee Carsley.

But watching the Eckert interview after Charlton and to me he looked like a young Brendan Rodgers.

Said he was the right man from the start. Followed his career closely from back when he was assistant to Marco Rose at RB Salzburg U19s. I was over there doing some contract work and they had a game so I went to watch it. I was very impressed with how they set up and someone next to me Tonda was brains behind the set up. Followed him since then. I was delighted when we hired him  knowing full well he would be a success.

Matty Etherington is there as his assistant I think.

Was just coming on here to make a similar comment about him.  Just has the look of a bloke completely obsessed with football and his job, can tell he loves it.

Which former Page 3 girl do we think he'll end up banging?

I'm thinking Keeley Hazell.

I often do as well.

Personally, I reckon it'll be Katie Price. We should wait until they get married, then appoint Dwight Yorke as assistant manager, just for teh lolz.

I love that. I just hope that he is not to matey with the players because that never works out well.
