The Kraken Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Charlie Austin is a whopper, let’s get that straight. But him and Jamie Mackie are dropping some truth bombs in the studio tonight. Quite rightly bombing out the Rs for tonight. I’ll enjoy tonight, but more to come. ‘Wasn’t a tough test tonight’ is about right. 1

Could very easily have been punished by QPR. Yeah, he was probably the worst player on the pitch for about half an hour in that first half. Which isn't a surprise. He did improve as the game went on. 2
Noodles34 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Is Tonda okay now? Cause I’m confused as sometimes it seems like the whole fan base want him out and SR have fucked up again, and sometimes they don’t? 2

Jack Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Weird game that. Thought we were pretty rubbish first half but went in 2-0 anyway. So frustratingly slow in possession, sideways and backwards so often when there were massive gaps and opportunities to play forward. On the few occasions we did, we created. QPR have been really up and down this season and we caught them on an off day, they were garbage. Better 2nd half, more urgency to shift it quicker and no surprise it led to chances. Very happy with a 5-0 win but left feeling we should be way higher up the table if we’d actually try to move the ball quicker more often. 3 1

lambtiss Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Good to see us taking our chances for once, that was the difference for me. Matsuki isn't a winger but was more productive in one match than Fellows has been all season. 1

Wade Garrett Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Wonder if Tonda told them to move the ball quicker in his half-time team talk. Good watch tonight. Their keeper was impressive 😂. 1

It's almost as if fans reacted negatively when he went on a 7 match run without a win and then react positively when he subsequently goes on an 8 match run without a defeat... That pesky human nature, eh... People reacting to what they see at the time, whatever next...? 5 1
Verbal Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Over on qprweb they're blaming the scoreline on their kit apparently. Not that it was making players invisible (TM Man U), but that it was hard on the eyes. This makes perfect sense. 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Well that was a game of two halves. We were pretty crap in the first half, well taken goal by Azaz but then he went awol until half time. Matsuki was decent and then he popped up with that header. I said to my Dad that first goal after half time would be the decider, after that third went in they were done. It was one way traffic. On another day we could’ve easily got another two or three. Larin was excellent with his hold up play; in fact most of the team went up a level in the second half. We need to push that momentum through now. 4

Indeed, Captain Jack has looked solid alongside THB since we reverted to a back 4. Adding Bree to the back line has massively helped settle them down as well, having another experienced head back there can only be a positive. 7
davefizzy14 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago We were absolutely fantastic tonight, clinical too. So pleased for Matsuki to grab two goals, he works so hard for the team 😊 goals for Leo, Azaz and Bree too 😊 and another cleansheet. The perfect evening 😊 Cyle is such a good centre forward 😊 strong, powerful, brings others into play. There was one moment where he bought the ball down beautifully and created another opening. The whole starting eleven put in an outstanding performance 😊 Tonda is a gem 😊 4
BranfootsLoveChild Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) According to one of the QPR fans on FB, after we scored the first, they dominated for 20 mins..... Edited 12 hours ago by BranfootsLoveChild

"Dominated" is possibly too strong a word, but we certainly didn't play well in the 20 minutes or so after we scored. Whether that was down to QPR playing well or us going off the boil, who knows... We went off the boil after a good opening 15 minutes really but the goal just before half time killed it. After the break we looked more forward focused and clinical and took our chances well. I think we took our foot off the gas after the 5th goal went in and managed the game well.

die Mannyschaft Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Some really good football. A very hood performance by all the players. And some very good goals. 500 plus passes and 5 goals I'll take the possession football then if it produces this type of result.

They didn't have the better of anything at any point in the game. What game were you watching? Nah. First half for quite a while after our goal it was action all down the other end. We defended well, they didn't have quite enough to really trouble us, get shots in, but they definitely had the better of the play in that period. Second goal right on half time made a big difference and you knew once we had the third that that was it for them. But they were better than quite a lot of teams this season and much better than Charlton. 2

Yes, it seems there is less confusion with a back 4 and we have decent experience with Bree and Stephens at this level. Helps that we have a vocal keeper too now. 4
saintstowin Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Really happy with that. It was a bit worrying when we sat back, slowed down (so frustrating as it appears self-inflicted for the most part) and they came into it. The goals came at exactly the right times to give us the confidence that we were indeed much better than them. When we speed up the build up just a bit and take a risk or two we're so much better. Due to the scoreline I even didn't become too stressed by Manning's walkabouts to areas of the pitch he seems to fancy spending time in nowhere near LB. Very odd!
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 6 hours ago, sadoldgit said: Until the next draw or loss. Still, how awful is the QPR away kit? Hideous. Far worse than that horrific pink third kit we had last season.

I don't see anything wrong with that. If QPR had scored the third goal to make it 2-1 then it could have been an entirely different story, but going 3-0 down so early in the second half obviously killed their entire plan and after that it was one way traffic. 1

Crab Lungs Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Absolutely brilliant stuff. I’d love to know how many key contributions Azaz makes per game as even if he has a ‘stinker’, he alway produces 1-2 good chances for the team. Loving Matsuki’s development also. For all his faults, Tonda is now running at about 1.8/1.9 points per game, which would have given us 60-64 points if he’d started the season. Take out Bazunu being retarded, and we’d have been right up if there. All if’s, buts and maybes though. Anyone missing Bazunu’s sublime build up play from the back? Cabrone Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Good result, we did to QPR what I was hoping we'd do to Charlton. With such a tight table GD may become very important come the home stretch so +5 is very welcome. Let's hope we add to that on Saturday. 2
Dr. Kucho Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Great result, sadly couldn’t watch it but had LiveScore on for the goal updates. Every time the phone buzzed I thought QPR had pulled a goal back but it was us every time 😃. Onwards and upwards COYRs
AllyD Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Great win well deserved. Thought Northam good tonight but hate the song- You are only a c@@t with a whistle- really!!!! and why mention Keir Starmer since when have politics and footie mixed except when Sunsk made his once in a lifetime visit to us a couple of seasons back!
Dr Who? Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The championship is a little nuts, I think everyone but Sheffield Wednesdays and Oxford have had a good run, or a bad run followed by the opposite and then repeat. Some in the top 3 for a little more, but no one is setting the league on fire. My fear is that we are still 4 off the top 6 and we are due another dip. But so are Wrexham! 🤷🏽 Take nothing away… great win tonight, but after Saturday I feel it will get a little tougher for a few weeks. 1

I know what you’re saying, however we do seem to be a bit more resilient and together as a squad now. The defence looks a more solid, bringing in a semi competent keeper was obvious but the difference Bree has made to makes the decision to loan him out an embarrassment for whoever made it. Plus the obvious physical striker that was needed, meant to be Damien Downs but bringing in Larin is looking like a very good bit of short term business. He might not get the goals Armstrong does but we’re a much better team with him or Stewart in it 1

Clearly the team trying to set up goals for Larin & Archer. Larin has been a good addition I think. His hold up play; and just generally making life tough for the defenders creates so much space for the creatives around him. A few lovely touches as well. Keep up the good work Cyle. Nice to see the competition for places too - Edozie & Matsuki keeping Scienza and Fellows honest. When Azaz has a good day, Saints have a good day Well done Tonda. It was crying out for a back four, but he made the change and those stats tell the story. COYR Seeing those stats, on behalf of Saintsweb Groupthink I can only congratulate the players on achieving that whilst being coached by a charlatan, a fraud and the worst kind of supply teacher. Congratulations to Tonda himself as well for doing it with a squad whose talent and depth at this level is an utter myth. 1
