Charles, Fellows, Azaz were all supposed to be fantastic this level.

All three were VERY poor tonight.

Edit: forgot Matsuki as well, add him to the list

Without wishing to be the party pooper, and whilst I do feel we've 'turned a corner' under Tonda, being a Saints fan of yore, I can't help but suspect there's at least one more inexplicably lackluster performance to come before the end of the season, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was this match.

So, with my reverse psychology hat on, I'm going for a 1-0 win to WBA.

Daylight robbery to grab a point there...  2 points dropped better than 3 though... I could sense it coming but here's hoping this is the one and only lacklustre performance for the remainder of the system. Facing Coventry in the next game is probably a good thing as it'll shake any complacency out of our system...

One point isn't good enough. Three points at Coventry and I might just let them off otherwise it's a 10 mile cross country run for every game that isn't won from now on.

Azaz...jesus, what a weird player.

There really is some shit in this division. If we didnt have SR, an so appointed a decent manager, then I dont think there would have been a better opportunity to win it.

Some weird reactions to Eckert on here as if mind were made up 10 weeks ago and not since we've been one of the best teams in the league.  So odd.

Yeah I'm really not sure what more Tonda could have done tonight. The guys on the pitch just didn't do the business tonight, and he made all the right subs.

Started off well enough but got progressively  worse. Didn’t help losing Leo. What has happened to Fellows? Still, managed to scrape a point from that so could have been worse. Hopefully we have got that out of our system by Saturday.

One word...shocking! We scraped a point we didn't deserve but the performance from front to back was pathetic. Disjointed, couldn't pass, lost all the 50/50s, didn't get between the lines and made West Brom look good. Glad I don't have to sit through that bore fest again. Need to up it by a lot if we are to even compete at Coventry. Strangely, come the end of the season, this could be a crucial point. Fellows continues to do nothing.

When you have Larin on the pitch tell him to get on the edge of that 6 yard box and put the ball on his head at every opportunity. Don’t be clever or cute, just find his head ffs.

Ted MacDougall made a career out of hanging around in that area 🤣

Oh man...just needed another 5 mins...West Brom were totally spent - but they were totally up for it today, didn't look like a team in the relegation zone.
Can't say a draw wasn't a fair result tbh. Thought we looked a bit lightweight and still too ponderous passing around the back. They totally sussed out our playing out from the back, especially our right side and pressed us high every time.
Larin looks better and better every time I see him - great strength, hold-up ability and target for headers - great goal to equalise.
Think we might look back at this as a point well won and an unbeaten streak maintained.

That was a mess… fellows is becoming a waste of a shirt, didn’t go past his man, can’t shoot either. 2 decent crosses in the whole game, Stewart should have scored, larin did. Then we don’t cross again. Don’t get it. Tonda screwed up not putting edioze on for scienza.

Keeps the unbeaten run going at least, point gained on the playoffs from this round of fixtures.

I can't wait for this season's "unbeaten run" commemorative t-shirt ;)

Agreed, and you know, he can get it wrong from time to time.  He's been a top league manager for what 10 minutes - and yet we are one of the best teams in the league and are showing it.  A lacklustre performance tonight, but some good subs to get a great point.  Given some players are probably fucked from the weekend, I am ok with it.

How on earth are Coventry,  Boro and Hull far superior than Saints winning far more games. We cant play like this next season there needs to be consistent,  fit quality players and less boring possession.

One of those nights. Draw a fair result as it was pretty much attack Vs a low block.

Hope Leo and Ross are not out long...(Assume Ross injured?!?!)

It’s a weird league, you see these kind of results all the time. Tonight Charlton winning at Boro!

The skates last win was 4 games ago at Millwall 1-3!

It really is this league anyone can beat anyone… apart from Sheffield Wednesday.

Absolutely horrendous performance except for the goal. No one played well but Charles and Azaz I thought were particularly poor. Edozie and Larin the only 2 who escape criticism and Edozie should have been on much earlier.

They looked like they went on the razz after the Fulham game tbh and need to be a lot better to avoid getting dicked by Coventry at the weekend.

Why the reluctance to put crosses in? The few times they actually stick on in the box Saints look dangerous. Fannying around in our own half still seems to be the easy option far too often.

3 points dropped by Eckert, 1 point saved by Edozie, Larin, and Peretz...

why is it when saints play badly its always the managers fault?

We’re literally top since he’s taken charge, and that’s with a team that had literally one win at St Mary’s in over a year, morale buried under the pitch, digging it out to get them playing well again when he came in. And then when teams started figuring out his initial tactics for a while, he adapted to that too, and hasn’t lost since he did.

No team plays at the top of their game every week.

I’m personally starting to think that he’s more likely to be poached than sacked.

Why is it that when we win its due to the manager

Terrible game, terrible ref, ill-deserved point, gained one point on the top 6 and a fatigued performance post-Fulham understandable.

Nervously await news on Leo.

Wouldn't surprise me if Leo is out for a few weeks given his 'banging hand on pitch' reaction to the injury.

Someone said at half time that they saw Stewart hobbling around a bit in the first half, which might account for his half time substitution... but if that's the case, why on earth did we leave someone as fragile as Stewart on the pitch until half time if he was struggling?

Larin is improving. He's still giving away a lot of naive nothing fouls which is frustrating. Maybe he needs to do some intensive practice trying to tackle Edozie (and Scienza if he miraculously regains fitness) who are our slippery shithouse foul winners in chief.

Yep, they wanted it more.

Just put the ball in the penalty area. That's where things happen. Too much possession for possession's sake. That said, looking forward to Coventry on Saturday.

I think it's the kind of game that will actually suit us better.

Probably the same reason the manager is praised when we play well...?

That we should be happy to have got a point away at a relegation contender, sums up how poor we were. Or rather, how easily WBA stopped us doing anything.Onxe again, we struggle to defend corners.

Tonda has used the squad well. But that's with it's limitations which were on show. Tonight had a combination of too many not able to have an impact.

We were out fought for nearly the whole game. We often struggled to get put from their press. That's in part to them having a stranglehold on midfield. Charles didn't have his best game, as he couldn't win in a physical midfield contest.

His shooting chance was weak. Something he shared with Fellows, who seemed off again tonight. With Matsuki on the other side, I was really hoping for Fellows to take the lead and push us. But not to be.

Azaz had to come very deep to give our midfield support. That meant we were light up front. Stewart will be disappointed with his header. But we didn't create nearly enough to give him more chances.

Larin did well, with what little he got. I thought his goal had a deflection, causing it to have a loop past the 'keeper. But he got to it well, in what was about our only effort on target all half

Their defence were organised, and we really struggled for ideas. Edozie and Larin made the difference. Bragg and THB were looking to push us forward too.

Fellows, Manning, Charles, Matsuki were all too lightweight tonight, and we need more than that across the side to keep any play off chances going.

A terrible good point. Not seen us that disjointed in some time. No point listing the bad ones. Glad Edozie and Larin bailed us out.

We didn't have a clue once Scienza wasn't there to pass to.

That non-booking is the most incompetent decision I've seen.

But still time for some funny moments at the end. Manning deciding to play up top for several minutes even when they cleared it. And Archer giving up trying to kick the sphere thing and trying to shoot using their player as the ball.

This is entirely on Tonda's tactical naivity tonight. At some point he'll change it up.... Problem is, he took stewart off, which was a huge fuck up when chasing the game and creating sod all.

Edit... finally we go two strikers... sadly one of them is Archer 😄. Maybe the objective is not stay down this season?

I thought Tonda’s biggest gaff tonight was not bringing Edozie on earlier.  With the Baggies well set up in defence and Scienza injured, Matsuki wasn’t the player to take on and get past a defender, and Fellows seems to have lost his way.   Edozie is a seriously underrated player in this set up.  The old label of no end product needs to be binned.  He is young, improving and maturing.   I like Matsuki, but he’s not really a wide attacking player.

I'd rather have lost tonight and not had Scienza get injured

For me this was the worst part of tonight. Without Leo we lack any creativity and look hopeless going forward. I fear his injury will be monumental as far as Saints ambitions to make the playoffs go!
