Chinese Proverb: "Jewel in sea of shit, shine bright. Jewel on crown of emperor, disappear." I don't think he'll make the slightest difference to them. JWP is better. 7
Harry_SFC Posted yesterday at 11:53 Posted yesterday at 11:53 Just as I thought, he'd kicked up a fuss. Guess that's what happens these days. We move on.

BotleySaint Posted yesterday at 12:09 Posted yesterday at 12:09 Very decent profit if it all goes ahead. There was little chance he'd stay when he has shown quality in the Prem. Really hope we don't just put it in the bank... 1
SaintNewForest Posted yesterday at 12:18 Posted yesterday at 12:18 This guy can go get to fuck. Rocking up at West Ham without permission, lost all my respect for that (I was fine and resigned to him going, but damn, do it properly). 4

I have to say, if be very surprised if he did something classless. He's played when others perhaps wouldn't, and that doesn't reek of someone who'd rock up somewhere to force a move.
Chez Posted yesterday at 12:54 Posted yesterday at 12:54 Will Still said he wanted the move and was one of those under pressure from his international manager to play at the top level if we wanted to possibly make the World Cup squad. 2
Tommy Posted yesterday at 12:56 Posted yesterday at 12:56 Looking for positives. We wont sing a song about a player who doesn’t score goals, scoring goals anymore. 2

Sir Ralph Posted yesterday at 12:59 Posted yesterday at 12:59 (edited) Kid was one of the few that kept going and gave 100% last season. Shouldn’t be forgotten as there were plenty of others who didn’t. I’ll remember him for that rather than going to WH training ground, if that’s what he did We are going to make £25 - £30m and reinvest the money anyway. We wouldn’t have got that if his attitude hadn’t been spot on. With the players we are purchasing it ain’t the end of the world anyway Edited yesterday at 13:00 by Sir Ralph 8

But, it's the circumstances that a photo doesn't show, particularly whether he knew that the club feels that he did not have permission to be there. Let's await some facts. Regardless, he was always likely to go, so I suspect that if he was there without permission, that it's made no real difference. 2

I once met an American at a conference for TV studio equipment. He offered us jobs but we said that we were indispensable. He replied, "Nobody's indispensable. Kennedy gets shot; we've got a new President in 5 minutes" This same gentleman collapsed and died in his forties on a tennis court a year or so later. 2

CB Fry Posted yesterday at 18:02 Posted yesterday at 18:02 Let's take comfort in the fact that he's going to have a shit time at West Ham. The last Portuguese Bernado Big Bollocks who left us to go to the Hammers stank the place out and died on his arse. In 3 weeks time he'll have a new manager to impress, so good luck. 4
S-Clarke Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago It's a bit of a low fee in the sense that we've got to pay a % to Sporting, and he still had 4 years left - and proved himself in the PL. I guess the only conclusion I can come to is that he kicked off, his Agent started forcing it and we had to bite the bullet. We haven't sat on the money at least, but he's the last bit of PL quality we had gone. KWP, Dibling, Fernandes, Ramsdale - a big cohort of proven quality to lose, which leaves us more to do when we go up to the prem next (if we do). But we can now build a Championship mega team with the funds. 2

This team we're building (especially with today's additions) sound like solid Championship contenders, but all our premier league quality players are gone. Oh well, let's get promoted first then think about next year.
Saint86 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I hope the rumours are true re west ham funny business. Will mean we have leverage over west ham and he/they may face a sanction or need to pay us more etc. If he was going anyway who actually cares? Looks like his exit is going to fund 4 very much needed additions that will contribute more than him combined quote comfortably. We come out of this winning... Cheers MF 😅🤣

Mads has played in the premier league, Jander appears to be very highly rated, Fellows and Azaz who knows, Scienza if he comes, has played in the Budesliga. Wonder if Charles also can make the step up? For sure if we get promoted we’ll need serious investment though but let’s get there first   1
SteveGc Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) very poor of West Ham to deny he was there to the club, when they put out photos of him at the training ground. Not the way to conduct business at all, but I suppose this is football Edited 13 hours ago by SteveGc 2

Wonder if Charles also can make the step up? For sure if we get promoted we’ll need serious investment though but let’s get there first   If we do get promoted this year, it will be with quite a young squad and quite a few of our players will have potential for big moves if they do OK in the PL. On that basis, you would like to think we've learned our lesson and would target a small number of really top signings through the spine of the team. If Ramsdale comes back, that saves us a transfer fee, so we should focus on CB, CM and striker. Rambo Mads -THB/Quarshie-NEW--Mann/Well -----Charles-Janker---NEW----- Fellows/Robinson-NEW-Azaz/Scienza Managed competently, that would at least be competitive, albeit scope to improve at full back. Competition from Bazza, Edwards, Stephens, Matsuki, Sesay, Downes, Archer, Fraser, brings squad up to 23. Try a couple of speculative "for the future" signings at full back. Raise some funds from Bree, Suga, Wood, one of the left backs if Taylor still here, Armstrong and Stewart or Downes. Would still be a tough season but would hopefully get closer to 35 points than 12! 1

In addition to the 4 that you mention we won't be seeing Bednarek, TP, Sulemana, Big Les in the team. Add (Probably) BBD, Smallbone and Aribo to that list and the potential for "scar tissue" to blight this season is greatly reduced. 1
