Might attract a buyer, but at a considerably reduced price.  He needs to get out when we’re riding high.

I’m not sure I would characterise our current position as riding high - somewhat the opposite in relation to expectations! Given his changed financial circumstances he’s probably realising that he’s not going to have the money to mount a sustained push to get us out of the Championship and he’s more likely to get a buyer in L1. Maybe. 😉

Russell Martin 'on STANDBY' to return - according to Alan Nixon

That would be funny

Not for us it wouldn’t

Fuck off to that.
I’d prefer Fat Sam - and I detest him - or Pulis ahead of Lego.

Dean Smith. Experience in this division, got Villa out of the shit and out of the Championship.

That’s a good call, I’d forgotten about him.

Got the Chris Wilder sort of vibe, bit hit and miss in his last couple of jobs, but good solid championship level manager.

Wolves just sacked Pereira, sacking season has begun

Someone tell Spors, in case he needs telling, that you can sack a manager on a Sunday

Asked a Wolves fan about him, and comment was he gave them a new manager bounce, but wasn't good after. very open at the back, and conceded plenty. His conclusion -  avoid.

That was my point.  I can’t see him selling at the moment. Our stock is lower than a snake’s belly.

I would stop watching saints if Martin returned. Never mind the last 50 years of supporting

Getting RM back would be an utterly ridiculous thing to do.

Surely even SR can't be that stupid?

We need an 'old school' manager to get some bollocks and fight back into the club...a WGS type. No idea who though.

Because it’s funny?

They are managers with who in their most recent jobs failed quite miserably. They now spend their time popping around podcasts being sniffy at modern football without being questioned on their own records. There’s very little to suggest they are what the club needs nor they would in any way suit the club. And the biggest example of that is the manager we’ve currently got seemed to sight a side that one of those two managed as one he enjoyed watching as a kid and seemingly has installed equally as basic tactics at his time here and it’s failed miserably. But because he’s young people seem to think he’s being too clever.

Thats probably why people laugh.

If we are going to judge candidates of the next manager purely by performance in their most recent role, we are going to be picking from an extremely limited pool.  Who do you suggest?  Guardiola?  Howe?  Maybe see if Klopp fancies a crack at the Championship?

The club needs a complete shift in approach.  It needs to get back to basics.  The players clearly need a good boot up their arse.  Football is a pretty simple game which has been massively over complicated by footballing hipsters the past few years.  Not least by Russell Martin with his ridiculous commitment to his “style” at all costs or our present incumbent who made a name for himself by being half decent at Championship Manager.

A Pulis or Allardyce type would set us up to be more difficult to beat almost overnight.  He would also most likely sack off this 5 at the back insanity we keep reverting back to.

I'd almost go as far as saying that none of what you've wrote there is true.

So the club doesn’t need a shift in approach?  Let’s keep on keepin’ on then?  Righty-ho, pal… 👍🏻

Sad to say it, but their selections have been such a clusterfuck that you couldn’t entirely rule it out.

Would be worse than the proposed return of Hoddle in 2004

Lets break it down:

If we are going to judge candidates of the next manager purely by performance in their most recent role - I didn't say we should do that but somebody with something to point at to give us some hope would be nice. Appointing managers who have proven themselves to be out of touch or not very good at managing seems a bit daft to me.

we are going to be picking from an extremely limited pool.  Who do you suggest?  Guardiola?  Howe?  Maybe see if Klopp fancies a crack at the Championship? - There are more than 4 managers who have done well in the world, the exact opposite to an extremely limited pool.

The club needs a complete shift in approach.  It needs to get back to basics - I'd say its as basic as it could get right now, the thought of us being any more basic is incredibly off putting.

The players clearly need a good boot up their arse.  Football is a pretty simple game which has been massively over complicated by footballing hipsters the past few years.  Not least by Russell Martin with his ridiculous commitment to his “style” at all costs - Russel Martins style was to pass the ball to each other, create chances and score goals. If that felt complicated to you, thats a you problem. It got us promoted out of this league and whilst we obviously came up short in the PL, it worked here, with our players.

or our present incumbent who made a name for himself by being half decent at Championship Manager. - Literally none of this is true, he made his name by being half decent manager abroad and left a club with better players than ours currently to join us, but given you think there's an extremely limited pool of managers out there it doesn't surprise me that you equate France to a computer game.

A Pulis or Allardyce type would set us up to be more difficult to beat almost overnight.  He would also most likely sack off this 5 at the back insanity we keep reverting back to - They wouldn't do this, we are back to point 1 but neither of them did this in their last jobs. Will Stills points per game record is better than eithers previous jobs but the main reason they wouldn't do it is because they get far too much attention digging at people on podcasts to even bother taking a job where scrutiny would be applied.

Many people have suggested getting a manager that's tough and will kick our players into shape, but maybe thats the wrong approach.

Maybe our players need a friendly shoulder and lots of positivity to get the best out of them.

Step forward Mr Gareth Southgate 👀

It’ll be Lallana for an interim period, followed by Tonda Eckert.

David Ornstein now reporting Eckert is in the frame permanently and not just interim….

Would be a fucking disaster.

This is all since we appointed Spors. Clearly Ankersen wasn't the problem and needs to be given more authority over the new manager hire.....

Out of the frying pan into the useless possession stats anti-football ex-Pompey shitwad.

Super.

It'll be someone like Ekert, or Ramsay from USA.

No change from what's gone before. It would be foolish to expect anything different.

Yeah my feeling is we should see the shortlist and hope we do a complete 180 and appoint somebody sensible.

Surely people have to realise it will be a cheap option for the replacement? SR rightly being hounded out the club, and will be planning their own exit strategy.

"Sports Republic, get out of our club (but chuck another few million in for a new manager on the way out)"

Ok, dont chuck a load of shit at me, but not many on here have mentioned Brendan Rogers. Other than him being irritating and having a fall out at Celtic, surely he'd be a decent candidate.

Okay, commence abuse.

No ex-manager, no ex-player.

Can we have an experienced name please that had a good career.  Someone that will have the respect of the squad.

No more fucking experiments or projects.

What a stupid suggestion. Why would we want that?

We need another data driven hipster to continue the SR master plan.
