I only got to see the last 25 mins. So unfortunately saw the worst of it. One team showing determination and effort. The other looked off the pace and lacking in any sort of attack plan.

Fortunate to hold on.

We did better than I thought we would.

But we were still pretty poor tbh. Last 20 mins was really bad.

But they got stuck in and gave it their all. Can’t ask for much more than that.

I think the back 4 now picks itself at least.

They’re buzzing from a point we’re disappointed with it, says it all.

they were shit, never threatened us at all apart from that shit goal.

Can’t fault the effort but a missed opportunity when leading and heads went down after the silly equaliser (with foul and handball).

Point more useful for them. At least our fans had the Leo goal and made lots of noise.

Plod delighted at the result.

Well it's not a defeat but it sure feels like it. Ridiculous to make 4 subs in the 10 minutes following the goal it squandered the momentum.

Are you surprised this goggle eyed prick does it everywhere

Blackmore being way too soft on Tonda for those subs.

Completely killed the game. We barely had a shot after those. He can’t manage a game, we’ve seen enough to know.

Well that was a shite goal to concede! Didn't offer much after the goal, which is a fucking outrage considering the quality we had on the pitch.

Yep. Should have just been Fellows on to run at them when they were shell shocked.

The Scienza injury obviously not a lot he could do about that.

Disgraceful considering who we’ve been able to bring on.

After they scored we created almost nothing and the ball didn't leave our half in extra time. It's so frustrating. It's the lack of experience on and off the pitch. Lucky fucking point for the bottom feeders but we should have done better at 1-1.

Fair result unfortunately. We were second best for most of the second half (as usual)

They will stick with Tonda until the end of the season at least. Can't wait.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH BY A LONG SHOT

We had a short spell before and after our goal where we showed our superior quality, but overall that was just another disorganised mess of a performance.

I just want Tonda to fuck off now. He's got nothing about him whatsoever. Gifted them that draw with terrible in-game management and we were hanging on at the end, having long since given up any hope of creating anything ourselves.

Really fucking poor. Again.

Don't even agree Fellows should have come on at that point. Matsuki was playing well. Scienza getting injured should have been the first sub, with Stewart coming on and Armstrong going left.

He fucking loved it out there. Top stuff.

Unfortunately every week we are looking like a journey Champ Club.

There is nothing to suggest there is a 100 million to spend to make us a genuine established Prem team anymore.

Says it all when Sky Sports chooses a Girls game to showcase the main event Sunday Lunchtime instead of one of biggest derby games in the country.

Safe Journey home.

Mediocrity, like the rest of this season. In fact, this game sums up Southampton in 2026 perfectly - some sparks of quality, but an overall droning, sloppy and tepid performance to drown it out.

There's still playoff places up for grabs but it will require change in a direction which Sport Republic (Ankersen) is determined not to go in.

I hope Portsmouth stay up, because the two derby games this season have been very unsatisfying.

Could have had Fellows on for Azaz and put Matsuki through the middle.

Azaz was only really effective in a couple of moments and we really struggled to get the ball into his feet.

Derby day you can usually forget about form on the pitch, but this one played exactly to it. 2 average teams currently

I've seen every derby since the 60s. Unless one team is a division above it's always like this. Teams raise their game.

Saints didn't lose, I'll take that.

Positives, definitely Bree he had a good game. I thought Matsuki looked ok, certainly offers an alternative to Azaz. Wellington had a great game as well.

Despite my fears Shea looked great.which is a real bonus.

Still suspect to crosses though

why can't we battle like this every week?? Flynn, THB, JS all putting it about when they normally can't be bothered at all. Generally a crap game because Pompey had one game plan and i don't blame them, hoof ,hoof, hoof.

We created the clear cut chances but only took one and today that was the difference.

Hopefully Pompey stay up and we have these 2 games to look forward to next season. Far better than some abstract game against Norwich or West Brom etc

This. I actually found it really entertaining which is something that can’t be said about the vast majority of matches this season.

True... But those moments were fucking brilliant. The assist for the goal and the ball to Armstrong which should have been scored.

Well. Could have won. Maybe should, having taken the lead.

2 x double subs in quick succession felt strange and didn't help. I think the 2nd lot was coming even if Scienza hadn't been injured, an odd plan.

Despite being quiet, with hindsight keep Azaz on, he'd just done something brilliant and the game might have opened up later on.

We needed the substitutes to add to the game and only Charles and Fellows contributed. Stewart didn't get any service. Robinson anonymous really.

On another day we get a first half goal and who knows.

Disappointed with the last 20 minutes. No possession and no ideas how to keep the ball moving.

I like no VAR but don't like handball goals.

Peretz was fine in my opinion. Not just the goal but all round. Kicked well and commanded the box.

Defence not exactly watertight but definitely better with a 4 and very committed.

Played right into their hands with 90 mins of header tennis. The rare occasions we got the ball down and played, we created chances. Outfought by a really poor side, barely won a header or 2nd ball, another shit goal conceded. More confusion from Tonda, he’s just got no experience to lean on.

We were totally in control after the goal until the equaliser which was totally against the run of play. Admit we didn't create much in that time but it was all Saints. The last few minutes was typical home side throwing everything at us trying to snatch a winner,  still they never really looked like scoring. We weren't great but an away point is usually a bonus. At least Tonda didn't throw CBs on to try and fuck/shore things up. No Manning. Think THB and Stephens actually played pretty well defensively, both of them are so much better in a 4. The only bad sub was Robinson, probably not the most sensible decision bringing him on when he did.

Even when we were a goal up and looking comfortable you just knew we’d concede and hand the game back to them: so frustrating. It wasn’t a disaster as I feared we’d lose this game, but it makes you see just how fucking awful Pompey are, and also that we couldn’t beat them with that squad of players. We are massively underperforming and the manager doesn’t know how to get the best out of them

Yes, very immature from many of our players.

But Matsuki did well considering it was only his second league start for us.

Why can't we keep hold of the ball rather than booting it away so many times?

I feel like going down to training with my set of cones to set up some triangles. Pass, move into space, receive it back, repeat and watch the pub team dive in to open up the space they vacate.

Such a winnable game against a terrible team, but says a lot that we only got a draw out of that.

Posted

Positives from that game. Back 4 with Bree and Wellington looks so much more solid. Leo's goal and celebration.

That is all. Tonda really failed to get the most out of the better quality we had on the pitch and engaged Pompey in their game of boot it upfield when our best players are all best with ball to feet.

Peretz is not the answer to our GK problems, poor game from him, booting the ball out of play trying to find midfielders is amateur hour I’m afraid.

Defensively, bang average but better in a back 4 at least, Bree and Wellington were both fine

Midfield, couldn’t get a grip of the game and show their quality. Jander and Leo good, Subs made no impact

Attack, AA missing at least 1 bang on goal, if not 2 clear chances is typical.

Not sure what’s going wrong at Saints but Tonda needs to work it out very quickly or 15th place will be dead set

Very fucking annoyed at that

I agree.

I think that’s why you have to start with Scienza Azaz and Fellows. It opens up the space for all 3 to be involved.

People will say Matsuki did well but it was all fart and no shit. They allowed him to have the ball because they didn’t fear him. That doesn’t happen with Fellows and then you’re not relying on mistakes to get Scienza involved.
