I have it on good authority that what he said to Ayling was 'fucking massive thermoplastic' talking about the new advertising boards.  Luke seems to have a hearing impediment as well, poor bloke.

Absolutely. If you're not skilled in lip reading or if there's a lot of background noise you might think he said, "fucking gibbering gob-spastic" but he didn’t.

An easy mistake to make for the unqualified.

I don't know how Ayling heard anything, he had completely lost his head (and was in danger of being sent off) before Harwood-Bellis even said anything to him.

At one point the ref looked like he was reaching in his pocket to bring out a second yellow, but got talked down. Then went and said something which Tonda obviously thought was complete bullshit (and Hellberg must've said something), but like everything in the build up to the match, probably a mountain out of a molehill!

Social media experts (lol) have deduced from lip reading that he said "sp-sp-sp, spit it out mate".

If the FA find cleaner evidence of that, Sky player cams etc, then that's discriminatory language and the starting point is a 6 match ban.

But he'll have weeks to respond so likely applied next season.

Players often instinctively cover their mouths when talking on the pitch these days, but not sure he did that

I didn't realise THB was a stammerer.

Their manager must have said something quite objectional for Tonda to act like that

Think it was more his reaction to Tonda, waving his finger at him. Tonda subsequently tried to grab his arm

how easy is that to defend though? How many times have any of us got tongue tied or stuttered a bit when talking?

"I was hot, lots going on around me, wasn't sure if he said something to me, lost train of thought, started saying something and then changed what i was going to say..."

Unless you say it slowly and really enunciate it, you could say it was the pressure and the situation.

If the ref had heard it then he should have dealt with it at the time.

Has Steve Gibson hired a lip reader yet?

Why hire a lip reader when it's easier to brief your mates in the press with whatever feel like?

The test for sports disciplinary is on the balance of probabilities (ie.whether something is more likely than not to have happened). Given that Ayling is known to have a stammer, and THB isn't, if there's clear evidence that he said that, THB would be a lucky lad to get off that.

I don't disagree at all, but we've all stuttered in situations i'm sure. There's such a thing as coincidence, as in he doesn't get his words out and it's to someone with a stutter.

If he's obviously looked at him and you can clearly see he's doing it to be twat, then banged to rights.

I'm not for one minute saying he's not done it, i'm just saying you could say "It's a pressure moment, i've gone to say something to him and changed my mind while saying it which has lead to it appearing to be taking the piss". Again unless it's clearly enunciated and obvious to the contrary. I mean, he probably did it!

Didn’t he give our fans some abuse a season or two ago ?

I want, no, demand compensation. Was traumatised for two seasons now. Or at least would have been if sat nearby

I understand the point, and the arguments but I think their poor arguments and that any reasonable tribunal would find against THB if there is credible evidence that he said "sp, sp, sp, spit it out" to Ayling. Let's see where it goes.

Appreciate your honesty, and no doubt he'll get done if obvious. Probably shows what i'd make up in my head given that situation..!

The FA: Following a review of the referee's report & speaking to Middlesbrough, Luke Ayling chose not to pursue the allegation against Taylor Harwood-Bellis & the matter is now closed #saintsfc

You could see the two of them had sorted it out on the pitch / in the tunnel. Heat of the moment stuff and all that.

I believe this is when Hellberg allegedly called Tonda a cheat, that's why Tonda reacted in the way he did.

Yep, Luke Ayling has far more about him than the BBC Teeside presenter this morning referring to THB as a ‘scumbag’ and our fans as ‘scum’.

Local journalists play to the crowd but there has to be some level of basic professionalism.

Side note - Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been immense this season.

Something has changed in the last twelve months, he’s gone from throwing his arms in the air to being a leader and driving players on.

Well done to him

Suspect if Ayling chose to pursue the matter, what he himself said might come to light and it might have been something that would show him in an equally unfavourable light... if not worse.

He knows the game's up and it's time to move on.

Has Taylor Harwood-Bellis said nasty things to you? You could be entitled to compensation. We’ve won thousands for whinging prats just like you …

Call Gibson and Bottler now on 0800 nobody gives a fuck …
