Defectors Watch

Shocking miss from Theo, on a par with Ings’s Tyro League miss late on last week.

Potentially a bad result for Saints though

Everton look nothing special, if we get our arses in gear there’s no reason we can’t compete with them over the course of a season. All three of their fixtures have been easier than either of our two.

Waaaaaay too early to be hoping for relegation rivals to start losing.

Went to Montreal Impact vs DC United today. Saphir Taider was absolutely gash in a 3-0 home defeat for Montreal.

The DC fans that traveled up were incredible though, sang, chanted and drummed for the whole time they were in the stadium, didn’t stop for a single minute. Constant noise.

Matt and Joseph Mills: ‘Our parents can drive to the same ground now’

An interesting read.

Matt Mills's move to Man City was controversial at the time. It never really worked out for him.

The "Callum Chambers" of 2005 ????

Good read! A club captain & player-coach. They’ve done ok for themselves. Good to see.

A young 21-year-old centre-back, Ben White, who's on loan from Brighton has been named Leeds' player of the month as they sit in third place in the Championship. What does it have to do with us? Well, he was released by Saints just five years a go at 16.

Matt Targett has yet to play for Villa, he can barely make the subs bench. If only we had 13 million to **** up the wall on a reserve left back who never gets a game.

You have to feel sorry for Matt. He was probably sold the idea he would be either first choice, or at least competing (alternating) with Taylor. I guess he has to wait for his chance, then take it.

Better to spend 13m and have them on your bench than our recent mode

We have wasted c£80m on players that couldn't even make our bench and now out on loan.

Moi, Carrillo, Lemina, Hoedt, FF

Chatting to a Villa fan at work, he said they are just waiting for him to 'get up to speed'.

They'll be waiting a while then. Pace was never one of his attributes.

Slightly tenuous, seeing as it's getting on for 30 years since he left, but Neil Ruddock is on Celebrity Masterchef.

Pretty obvious he likes his food too. Hard to believe he used to be a professional sportsman.

Have you seen Lambert recently? Now there’s a sturdy unit.

A day of developments for former Saints, now in the manager stakes:

Garry Monk

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49610317

And Kevin Bond.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49538878

Neither of whom I'd regards as "defectors" as players, but Bond's association with Redkn0b and his following him from and back to the skates does make him fair game for this thread.
