AlexLaw76 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 What a finish. Pretty sluggish at times in the 1st half, slow on the ball. 2nd half much better, and the quality of the bench won it. We really cannot go into the games with Arma as the central striker, that is ridiculous. Manning was superb when he came on, quality crosses, goal and an assist. Shout to Charles, who's cross-field ball to Manning was brilliant. Edwards ropey, Quarshie not a comfortable on the ball, Bazunu with a brilliant save and Stephens was good, particularly clearing up for Edwards. Manning Sky's MoM - well deserved. 8

I'll try to keep a tally on it's success this season. The wheel has decided. (That's the catchphrase) Well damn. The wheel got it right! 1

skintsaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Saints came out much fitter than Wrexham so preseason paying off. 11
tdmickey3 Posted August 9 Author Posted August 9 Well, you can stick your Disney up your American arseholes 2
Baird of the land Posted August 9 Posted August 9 That was crazy. amazing goal by manning. Stephens somehow popping up at right wing to quieten the haters for a few days. Bazanu too with a massive save. can’t say still’s tactical approach impressed. We set up in a way that helped Wrexham, took too long to change. Guess you can say he was willing to throw the kitchen sink at it, which resulted alongside Wrexham lack of fitness saved us. Signings look a bit raw but I guess they add needed physicality. Downs worrying inability to kick the ball was saved by Stephens finish.

Tamesaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Just leaving SMS. Looking forward to reading this thread. It is going to be a classic. 😂😂 3 4
Saint NL Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Enjoyed that, forgot this feeling. Still just seemed to keep chucking on strikers, eventually it worked but we need a better Plan A. Happy today, bring on Ipswich

Saint Scott Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Can't wait for the new season of This Is Wrexham to relive that last 5 minutes 😂 Ref was appalling, didn't think it would be our day with poor finishing and two stone wall penalties not given 5 2

Can’t agree with you there Jack but well done on the late winner. Ryan Manning Swansea edition that we actually signed and Leeds wanted showed up. Fraser definitely a good squad fixture this season. Need 2 or 3 good wide quality starters and a #10. Edwards rotten, Sugawara not much better, Quarshie mixed bag as you’d expect. Wellington good overall. Stewart looked more refined than Downs but the latter did unsettle Coady finally. Robinson some promising moments and nice feet, needs to pack a punch with his shots and used to getting fouls in the u23s that he won’t get in the men’s staff. Lallana struggled early in his career with that and ideal to help Jay. Charles excellent, Downes rusty but got minutes under belt. AA terrible game, might have played himself out of the XI until October there. Edited August 9 by Gloucester Saint 4

Been pissing me off, totally ignored the excellent reaction save from Ward and the post strike + goal line clearance as "nothingburger" chances. hypochondriac Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Genuinely thought we were decent second half without scoring. No doubt we are fitter Wrexham were blowing out of their arse. 9
NewYorkSaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 So much to build on... Quarshie fantastic player... . Robinson... so much to come. Stephens reputation massively boosted. Manning the new JWP.... Baz! world class... Last year we deserved a point or win on opening day against Newcastle. Not getting it put a dent in our confidence we seemed never to recover from. Hopefully today sees exactly the opposite effect. 2025/2026... feel the excitement! 3 1

Well done boys, deserved win in my book and a tough banana skin avoided! Aye, well said. It was the late, late show… but well done to Ryan Manning and Captain Jack. Much maligned by many, including by me. Magnificent fee kick from Manning and match saving tackles and a match winning goal from Stephens. Great feeling; happy for Will Still. 4

Monk Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Do not underestimate that save from Gav and the recovery from Jack (wasn’t sure if it was him or Ronnie). There’s a mistake or two in Quarshie but he’s gonna be a fan favourite. Big fan of not returning the ball back to Wrexham, who by the way are utter dross without Kieffer Moore. 6
CB Fry Posted August 9 Posted August 9 As it should be, Saints and Nathan Jones 1 and 2 in the table. 2
LGTL Posted August 9 Posted August 9 We should have been winning that comfortably. Wrexham were fucking awful, they’ll struggle big time. Second half was much much better and that sort of finish could start the momentum for the season now. Point or better at Ipswich next week and we’ll be well on our way. 5
Saint NL Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Robinson was good, needs to beef up a bit and not just hit the deck when touched by a defender. But a very promising start to his career 1
Pwoite Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Saints web should be ashamed, collectively. Bazunu not good enough, Manning a joke, Stephens a disgrace. Thats why we have day jobs and aren’t in football. 5 2 1
Osvaldorama Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Pretty bad that after a long preseason, there was seemingly very little structure or style of play being implemented. I’m not sure why Still waited until a competitive game to play the first team together Arma doesn’t work centrally. RW or not at all. We won, but truly that papered over the cracks and we need to be much better. 1

sockeye Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Outlasting teams and having that little bit of energy for last minute goals will be whar gains us promotion great for the shoe to be on the other foot 4
SW11_Saint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Jack, Baz, Manning - liabilities… … who’d have thought it? 😈😇
Harry_SFC Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Obviously you look at the match winners Stephens, Manning, Bazunu but Charles was my motm. He's come on leaps and bounds. 8
AlexLaw76 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I know the refs have been told to not give every touch as a foul, etc. But feck me, he was dreadful. 4
moonraker Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Moore was lauded by the commentators but he is cart hoarse, our defenders were far to slow to get into the game and made him look reasonable, he will not get so much change from a more composed defensive set up. We basically we caused our own problems, Wrexham have a long way to go to achieve in this league. 1
bpsaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 1 minute ago, tdmickey3 said: One big take from this, Armstrong should not play Not in the number 9 role at least anyway. Edward’s better sort his shit out as well. Far play to Baz, not his biggest fan but THAT saved deserved too win us at least a point, happy to take all 3 and send the sheep shaggers home upset. Jack holding up his armband in his celebrations shows he’s heard what we’ve all said, here’s hoping he indeed goes on to prove everyone wrong. Credit to Manning, he could flourish as a winger with the shackles of the possession game removed. That ref though, fuck me, two stonewall pens was good to get a result in spite of him. 5
lhammondo Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Manning with a cracker and an assist. Downs will be the most relieved that cap'n Jack popped up at the back post. Great spirit, lads. Fuck you, ref. Fuck you, Hollywood 2
Wsaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Title fight between saints and Charlton, big Nath will be buzzing.

Crab Lungs Posted August 9 Posted August 9 The two most minging things on that pitch was the ref and Edwards. 2
Saint_clark Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Can we get back to interviewers asking questions instead of trying to banter with the players and managers? 1
