I think the deterrent will come in the form of tightening up and clarifying rule 127 with an explicit penalty clause added.

Indeed.  At the moment, the rule basically says; "don't spy on another team within 72 hours of a match or we'll be really, really cross (maybe)".

Crazy really. He sued Derby for £40m-£45m in 2019 and settled three years later in 2022 for £3m but you'd think he'd won them some sort of king's ransom by the way they bleat on about it

NO ONE MESSES WITH GIBBO

Till our next championship season, whenever that is.

That's pretty weird then. If - by some miracle - we don't just beat Hull, but then manage to stay in the top flight for 27 years (as we did from 1978-2005), we would begin the 2053-54 season in the Championship at a points deduction?

Just in case it wasn't abundantly clear, they have less of a clue than we do. Everything on the Boro forum is guesswork.

What did the statement say? I obviously missed it.

That’s not really a deterrent for other EFL teams tho.

It’s not a penalty to make an example of or deter, it’s a penalty for breaching two rules with specific context.

Remember no other league has the intent to observe rule. If the EFL want to reflect the seriousness of a rule breach, the range of potential penalties should be a higher minimum or they’ll stated an aggravated breach. The current choice of penalty is wide, giving the tribunal flexibility based on evidence and context.

I’m pretty sure a suspended deduction would be if we offended again in a certain time frame, it wouldn’t be until next time we’re in the EFL.

Meh, it probably would if the time frame is 18 months.

So is this all the Middlesbrough equivalent of Skacel/Spertsyan with the expect an announcement at this time by pretend itk's.

I'm guessing Boro fans will be cheering us on this Saturday. If we win we get the big 200 million windfall giving them more chance of obtaining a decent chunk of compo once Gibbo's lawyers get active 🙂

They might even scrap it for all this is worth, seeing as no other league does this.

They are setting a precedent. That precedent needs to ensure that other EFL teams think twice before being caught observing within 72 hours.

How much shit would you like us to be in? Is there a particular depth of excrement that would satisfy your obvious desire to see that this club is royally fucked?

I really don’t know Sheba, but if they go for something crazy they face an appeal which they will probably lose given the circumstances (not only was he only equipped with an iPhone, it seems as though he was a good 200m to 400m from any action, so probably the most inept and ineffectual recon mission ever).

Also, if it is true that they are all at it, the EFL won’t want to stir up a hornets nest by imposing some massive, disproportionate penalty.

What penalties do the EPL and EFL currently have that are so punitive that the have stopped clubs from transgressing?

At the end of the day we still cheated apparently and cheats never prosper

Just took a glance on OneBoro, I see they're back to thinking they're going to make a compensation claim for £200m if we're allowed to play in the final. I want a toke on whatever they're smoking.

I do not want to see us royally fucked I’m just pointing out that they are setting a precedent and that 300k would be a walk in the park to most champ teams given that it’s less than 10 weeks wages for one player. So I’m trying to gauge what would be proportionate is that ok with you?

Has anyone else bought a ticket but not had any email confirmation? Starting to see conspiracy everywhere at the moment! 🙂

I reckon we'll hear tomorrow and hunch says points and fine.

In other news my daughter got a new iPhone today and showed me the Zoom on it. 'You should get a job with Saints', I quipped.

Too soon.

The assumption being made is that the photo of Will Salt is the only image/video that Boro have. There maybe more evidence - who knows?

If it’s index linked then that could be 17 points by 2053 assuming 4%

How on Earth does a team that were so disadvantaged by 'Spygate' end up with more players than Saints in the 'Team of the Play-Off Semi-Finals'...? Surely some mistake...? 😉

He's worded his tweet very badly; what he means is that his friend and the other casuals need to make sure they have booked Saturday off to make sure they are free for the play off final. It does initially look like worrying thing to be fair!

That’s what they should do in a sensible world, just not worth the hassle for them and most football competitions have survived quite happily without it.  But laws are very rarely reversed.
