Sir Ralph Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 1 hour ago, sambosa75 said: Why? Peretz is a better keeper. Not even close I’d say. My opinion is they are a similar ability. It would be unusual for someone of Ramsdales profile to remain at the club and not play at all. Peretz is there on merit but if he has a wobble I’d be surprised if Ramsdale didn’t get a call up in that scenario

I really like Peretz but don’t agree with the retrospective downgrading of Ramsdale. 8

Peretz is there on merit but if he has a wobble I’d be surprised if Ramsdale didn’t get a call up in that scenario For me it’s more to do with the fact that he signed for a considerable fee for a side that even at that point in the season looked nailed-on for relegation, ended up coasting to a relegation rooted to the foot of the table and then immediately fucked off to Newcastle to be Nick Pope’s understudy rather than showing a modicum of loyalty to the club that spent so heavily on him a few months earlier, forcing us into starting the season with Bazunu as our number 1 again, this forcing us back into the market to take a punt on an unknown keeper from Bayern Munich’s reserves who has thankfully turned out to be up to the job and re-signed for the club permanently even after the spygate debacle robbed him of a Wembley final appearance and probable promotion bonus. Peretz deserves our loyalty if he experiences a dip in form. Ramsdale does not. IMO of course. Edited 3 hours ago by sambosa75 3

Patches O Houlihan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 4 hours ago, Patches O Houlihan said: Personally I think that Wood or Abbott will be the bold name in the RCB position, but otherwise this seems to be where we are. JWP and Abbot can both cover for Bree if Roerslev heads off to a late deadline league. We against expectation signed Peretz and Larin, and kept Scienza and Jander. That feels like a win - even if the depth isn't quite what we got used to last year. When that first 11 is fit and firing we'll give any team in the division a tough game. Tonda and the medical staff did really well with rotation and keeping the team healthy. We're out of the EFL Cup so hopefully that will help too. 3 hours ago, saintant said: Why have you put Stephens in the starting eleven? 1) I quoted a tweet from Saints Statistics - not my graphic 2) I specifically stated I wouldn't start Stephens - by saying I would have Wood or Abbott in bold Your reading comprehension needs to be a little sharper if you are going to post with your elbows out

BARCELONASAINT Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago tonight was a prime example that we need a couple more quality players. We looked far to vulnerable in large patches today 9
BotleySaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Unless we have made some last minute signings, I'm a bit worried. Just one proven striker and one youngster as yet unproven. It not enough, especially if one gets injured. Not sure what the club is doing. 7

I think an important part of our run to the playoffs was being able to swap him and Stewart around as the big man up top. 14
Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We’re scrapping around in the transfer bargain bin and getting knocked back by Nathan fucking Jones FFS! Stewart should have been properly replaced four weeks ago. 9
SNSUN Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 2 minutes ago, Hawkswood said: Has Ramsdale gone ? With windows open elsewhere after ours shuts, I'd rather get a GK in now. Surely the club can't think Long is good enough to cover Peretz, and two keepers leaves us short. Last season we even brought Jamie Jones in when McCarthy got injured so surely they see we need 3 GKs. Yes we could end up keeping Ramsdale and I'd be delighted with that but if he does end up leaving after the window closes then that leaves us Peretz, Long and Moody. One injury to Peretz and it could be game over for automatic promotion.

chownie20 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Painfully obvious Mubama can't be the only alternative to Larin, especially now Archer has gone. Guess that's why we are pushing the Charlton fella but this feels a little late. 1
chownie20 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Also Edozie needs replacing properly if he goes / kicks off too as our bench was always going to weaken us tonight with the exception of JWP. 1
beatlesaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) With Jander still to come back in I’m not worried about the midfield. Not worried about the wingers options either. BUT as many have said that central striking role looks threadbare. Larin and a young lad. Not enough for a team looking at automatic promotion as we keep hearing is the aim. No way. This should have been addressed properly weeks ago. Edited 2 hours ago by beatlesaint 2
Costa del Solent Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Totally unconvinced that Mubama adds anything. Maybe an obvious statement but we are weaker up top than we were at the end of last season. Failure to address this is inexplicable 5

It seems totally unnecessary that we would leave ourselves so light on strikers after we had so many on the club's books. Not saying I was desperate for the likes of Archer, BBD and Downs to stay, far from it, but I can't believe we would let all of them leave plus Oyekunle and Stewart, with only Mubama, a relatively inexperienced youngster coming in to join Larin. We must be working on something surely, but we shouldn't have let all of the above leave before we had secured at least one more to come in. As it stands, I think it's very likely Larin will be burnt out by Christmas with so little backup. 3
Saint Scott Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) As proved tonight Larin doesn't have the legs to play 3 games in 7 days. Early days for Mubama, but we need another option. Edited 2 hours ago by Saint Scott 6

DT Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Decent point. Larin looked knackered. And missed a sitter. We could have been three down in the first half. So would take it. Need more goal threat. And a CB for backup 1

CSA96 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I think the window has been a mixed bag, I am more pleased than displeased overall: - Our XI is probably able to be just as good as last season - Our depth is definitely worse behind Downes/Jander and maybe behind Larin, but better at CB (I never saw Quarshie as a viable option, let's see if Abbott is... I think he will be) - I'm pleased to only lose 2 of the 4: Harwood-Bellis, Charles, Jander, Scienza - Azaz and Downes are key and top players at this level and are both still here too - Absolutely ****ing delighted to finally be rid of Bazunu and McCarthy - Never expected to be able to sign Peretz permanently if I'm honest - Was worried Larin would just go elsewhere after how last season ended, he could've had other offers and isn't averse to changing countries - Pleased Bree came back, I'm not his biggest fan but he's solid enough at this level - Was a bit disappointed to lose Stewart but at the same time had said before I wasn't comfortable trying to get through an entire season with just him and Larin because of injury history/age - Still think we are a bit light out wide and in the GK department personally. I'll be praying nothing happens to Peretz as I don't rate Long whatsoever and I'm not sold on Matsuki (although he does turn in some good displays) on the right and the Edozie situation puts a ? on who can cover for Scienza However, I feel we are setting ourselves up to arrive at the January window with space in the squad and unspent budget, which can create some interesting opportunities. As seen with Peretz and Larin last January. Spors is obviously able to dig out some January finds if we want to Finally, we just need to do better over the first half of the campaign than we did last season... that shouldn't be too hard (famous last words) and then we'll arrive at January, as mentioned, with space and budget if there's something we really need to address or if we feel there's an opportunity which can put us over the top when it comes to the business end of the season Eckert wanted a squad of 23/24 and that's exactly where we're going to end up and I think the group assembled is enough to expect the manager to guide the team to playoffs, which is where my expectation level for this season is 1
