macca155 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good win, controlled the game, rested key players. Exactly what was required. Onwards and upward 7

Cabrone Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Don't care if it's ugly, 3 points and into the playoffs for the first time is all that matters. 2
saintant Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Clean sheet and a battling 3 points. It wasn't pretty but we got the job done and gave some first teamers a rest so fair play to Tonda. Good poachers goal from Matsuki who was alert when the ball went loose. Defended well throughout and Peretz commanded his area well. Happy with that. 1

skintsaint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good good, two 1-0 nils in a row. If we get 9 points this week would be amazing! Great hard ground out win that, not pretty but was never going to be. 1
St Chalet Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Solid win that. Rotated a few players, hopefully Downs’ not out for too long, Jander a class act, finally an away win. 4
Saint Fan CaM Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Fingers crossed that Downes ankle is not too bad. He walked (hobbled) off the pitch, so can’t be too bad. 3
RedArmy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Downes on crutches. Hopefully a precaution until he gets it checked… 6
SNSUN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Just edged possession. Norwich are better than their position but it was important we won. Two One Nils in a row. The new Saints. 1
UpweySaint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Away win. Two scrappy, ground out wins on the bounce. Two clean sheets. It’s not pretty but I’ve seen us play some good stuff this season. Throw in the guile to grind it out in games like this where to opposition are niggly little fuckers we’re going to be in with a shout at the top end. 3

SNSUN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good performances from Peretz, Schlott, Jack, Azaz and Matsuki but Jander was MOTM when he came on. Peretz made some decent saves though and should be happy with the clean sheet. Jack in for two games since the break and two clean sheets. 12
vectraman Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good 1-0 win. Two clean sheets in a row. Very workmanlike, no frills win. 3 points more important than the performance. On to Bolton now, who will provide a stiff challenge. 2
OneMrsWallace Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Good, professional performance. No crazy errors from JS in two games now. Sensible subs from Tonda. Winning when you're not at your best is a really good sign. Now let's smash Bolton and start frightening this league. Edited 1 hour ago by OneMrsWallace 2
CB Fry Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago With 10 games gone only 3 teams on 2 points a game. While it is great that we are one of them it shows how much we need to do to finish top 2 with the 4 point handicap. 2
Wade Garrett Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Jander was very good as was the whole back line in the 2nd half. Thought Dobbin was ok as well. Another gritty performance. Not pretty but did enough. 2
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Get in. Another clean sheet and kept it together when Norwich threw on more attackers. Crazy that Saints didn't prioritise a decent second striker. 1

Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Nice to get an away win, that selection and the substitutions are why we had to keep Tonda
die Mannyschaft Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Away win, it was important to get over the line as they say and we done it with a changed side. Should give some confidence to the players to take into Saturday's game. Table looks much better too.

suewhistle Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I thought Dobbin and Edozie also made decent contributions which should be acknowledged. Jander obviously not fully fit yet with that touch of cramp at the end. Good to give a few players a rest and some time for others; all in a good evening and a happy PO10 pub. 1

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good subs from Tonda, swapping out the full backs. Deliberate to have a mix of 1st and 2nd choice for both halves (not sure what's happened to Mads). But Wellington is a very solid replacement and barely second choice. He works well with Edozie. Likewise, Bree with Matsuki. With Jander doing really well, our midfield controlled a lot of the play. But it was pretty fluid. Bree allowed Matsuki to go centrally. Dobbin was pushed centrally, but would drop back and support. While we could do with a better cutting edge, having so many players interchanging proved too much for Norwich, leading to Matsuki's goal. Makama looked as though he could cause us problems, as he's a Larin-type of player. Fortunately he got little support. When Field had a clear path, but turned back, the home support vented their frustration. Larin didn't get on the end of much, and Mubama only a few touches. But having 2 up stopped Norwich pushing us back, helping us keep that lead. Hopefully Downes is okay. Azaz looked a bit tired, after two games. We don't seem to have actually brought in support for him. But Dobbin did have a better game, and did get around the park. Into 7th (3rd not including the penalty). 3

Jack Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Not pretty but any win was always going to be a fantastic result after the effort put in on Sunday. Jander was absolutely top class, hopefully that was just cramp with Downes likely out for Saturday. Credit to Dobbin for looking decent when he got into the game and we started finding him in the sort of position he likes. I still don’t have a clue what sort of player Mubama is meant to be. Hoping Larin is back in on Saturday and ready to get back into scoring form.

Win the next two and we should be a lot closer. Bolton on Saturday should is winnable but after that there's West Ham and an in form QPR. Probably need 7 points or better from those 3. 1

Dr Who? Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Beat Bolton on Saturday and then at West Ham. I think if we get 4 points it would be great just not losing to West Ham. Win both and that will be something special.
Saint Pete Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) 2 clean sheets in a row with Stephens at CB. Who would have thunk it?! Importantt win for a few reasons really - Keeps momentum and feel good factor after the derby win - Gets us over the hump of our first away win of season - Gives us confidence that we can still win a tricky looking away game while resting a few key players, which we will need to do as season progresses Main downer on the night (excuse the pun) is Downes injury, he has been so important for us so far this season, just got to hope he is not out for too long. Also not a great start for Abbott getting hooked at half time. Other than that, a good night that makes me a little more confident our squad outside first 11 may possibly be good enough after all (but still more needed from a few). davefizzy14 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Excellent and solid performance from us tonight 😊 That's two cleansheets in a row now. Peretz, Stephens, Schlotterbeck, Bree, Welington, Prowsey, Matsuki and Azaz were all very good 😊 lovely poachers goal from Matsuki 😊 Jander my MOTM - he is so good 😊 full marks to Tonda for managing the squad during a busy week 😊 Edited 43 minutes ago by davefizzy14 2
Thripp87 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Team spirit looks great to me. Wood for example, been dropped, yet as happy as anyone at the end there. Great to see. Perfect night (Downes injury apart), used the squad well and some more options I think we can rely on if needed. Dobbin did well up top as well. 2
Vancouver Saint Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Good win - great that we can win with just one goal - I'm always thinking we'll concede a last minute goal...still don't have much confidence in us defending corners for example...so really happy we hung on. Was hoping with everybody else that we'd score a breakaway second goal and take the pressure off...that was the Jander chance. Thought Dobbin was really good playing an Azaz-like role in midfield. We looked controlled and composed at the back. I like it that we mixed things up with long-ball forward in the first half too - will make a few opposing managers think twice about high-pressing us or just working on stopping our passing through the middle. Shout-out for Edozie too whose trickery and forward play made the goal... Unrelated dumb question - must have missed it from the start of the season - but what's with the six teams up for play-off positions? How does that work for the knock-out phase with six teams?
davefizzy14 Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago Dobbin and Edozie both made some good contributions too 😊
Greedyfly Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago I hope Downes isn't crocked. And I really hope Jander isn't crocked. Quality players at this level the pair of them. Thought Dobbin did alright as the game went on as did Edozie. JwP looked ropey, play the ball forward man. Fair fucks to Stephens been good in both games. Looks more comfortable on the right in fairness. 3
