LaptopSaint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 The European competition really brings the best (worst) out of our resident trolls, all vying to become the biggest most compete bellend on the forum... And this...
badgerx16 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Anyone else suspicious of the fact José has played no Europa league football? We are cup-tying Yoshi.
Disco Stu Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Need learn from selling our two top goalscorers from last season and not replacing suitably. Agree. Everybody could see we needed a striker. Even in the games we've won, it seems to take a bunch of oppotunities to finally score.
Minsk Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Could and should have won that. We were the better team all over except where it matters most. Let down by the boards failure/decision in not signing a decent goal scorer in the summer. Also, 10 minutes left in a match where you are trailing 1-0 and the opposition has gone down to 10 men and no striker on the bench; not only that, but the manager takes a striker off and puts on a cm FFS!
RoswellSaint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of there, in fact very proud of them all, played really really well, just didn't get the breaks. Fans sounded awesome as well - well done.[/quote This. On another day we'd have won. Football's like that sometimes. Exactly.
doddisalegend Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 ****ing hell it doesn't take long for them to come crawling out of the wood work after a loss does it.....
UpweySaint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Some real f**king bellends on here. We just went to the san siro and outplayed inter milan. We had a legitimate goal chalked off and watched a keeper pull a few worldies out of his locker. Yes disappointing not to win and we could be a little more clinical but Jesus wept some some of the trolling on here. We may still go through into the knock out rounds of European competition. Let that sink in, 6 years ago stadium MK, now here. Get a grip.

Viking Saint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Only saw one replay of the JRod header, but it definitely sounded like the whistle went so early it was for something happening elsewhere in the box. Pretty dispiriting result - played well without really carving them open and then got suckered by an irritatingly good finish that put the technique of our strikers into sharp relief. In a way it felt like Inter were England and we were the Eastern European minnow that plays well for 90 minutes of a Wembley qualifier and then gets done by one moment of quality. The whistle was for an alleged foul by Austin, which was no worse than the standard shirt-tugging you see week-in, week out in the PL.....we could've won that 4-0 and it wouldn't have been unfair...more than enough chances to win, just didn't take them and wasn't our night...a point was deserved at the very least....J-Rod still doesn't look like he's moving properly to me
Pamplemousse Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Let's be honest, with our two best full backs on the pitch, we perhaps could've won that. Martina had a poor game, and it's impossible to blame McQueen.

However, if there are things I don't like I will point them out. I don't like this notion that a differing opinion means they're a troll or bellend. Hopefully we can all be grown up enough to discuss things without calling names.
BallBoy Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 1-0 down, deep into extra time. We win a corner. A free cross into the box. We have Ward-Prowse, a fanastic crosser of the ball. We have Virgil Van Dijk, Charlie Austin, Maya Yoshida, Oriol Romeu all in the box ready to attack the ball. What do we do? Play a short ball, quickly lose it so everybody has to run back and Inter hold it up in our corner. Unnacceptable. Totally agree with this. I was screaming at the screen. Very unusual for Prowsey to make such a poor choice.
ART Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Gutted. Big mistake starting going Long. Would have been better if Steven Davis had been playing first half Another good game from McQueen. Martina ran miles and put a Ross some great balls. I think we got caught out by Inters game plan. They struck when we least expected and then piled on the pressure. If we beat City I won't feel so hard done by tonight's result
Saint86 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Anyone else suspicious of the fact José has played no Europa league football? He is off to United in January.... I thought everyone knew that? It was leaked in september on here by a very reliable source...

Hopefully we can all be grown up enough to discuss things without calling names. He may have aimed at you but I don't think so. Take a look at the match thread when we went behind. Crazy overreactions at that point "Les Reed has lost the plot" being one. It's frustrating to have lost but we should still get out of the group with two home games left. Should being the operative word.
badgerx16 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Martina had a poor game,.... Which game were you watching ?
eurosaint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Positives : 1) Puel's selection and tactics. 2) Non first picks - Martina, Yoshida, McQueen and JWP all play well. 3) No fear, took the game to big name opposition. Negatives : 1) Spurn too many chances. 2) SWF trolls back as usual cos we lost ! COYS
doddisalegend Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Which game were you watching ? thought Martina was decent again tonight myself.
warsash saint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Pelle and Mane would have scored tonight. & Hoddle would have managed us to victory!! ***t
thesaint78 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Struggling to see why Hapoel are second in the table when we're equal on points, have drawn with them and we have better goal difference?!
Sour Mash Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 We were much the better team, ridiculous we haven't beaten these or Be'er Sheva. Rodriguez is way off his level from 13/14, don't think he'll ever get back to that level.
Yorkshire Saint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Any one beard anything about the guy who collapsed? One guy told me had gone - one guy said not ! He was having CPR and mouth to mouth for a good 15 mins I believe

tobes8 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 34 chances created at the weekend and 2 goals from open play. Tonight again wasteful. Gutted for all those that went and were a credit to the club and city. Clubs poor summer policy of not replacing pelle showing again.

nta786 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 was absolutely criminal not to have grabbed something, but a really good day in Milan and hopefully can experience it a bit more tomorrow!!! it was making me think- when was the last win we had where we didn't deserve it or we smash and grabbed it? inter proved how to see a game out and all it took was a goal- whilst the occasion was massive, this loss will mean nothing if we win both our home games and grab a pt in Prague. The group is open and there for the taking. Come on you Saints, proud of even getting to play at the San Siro despite the result!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 We travelled with 3 forwards none of who were fully fit or match fit and that is why we didn't score. Just like Beersheba that game was winnable but our squad is just not deep enough.
Saint in NZ Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Oh dear, oh dear! Same old, same old. Should have won that in a canter! The defence must be so frustrated. Oh well, can't expect much more than a mediocre season as this was to be expected when the club failed to sign a recognised striker who is looking to score at every opportunity. Boss the game all over the park and then lose 1-0. Could have written the script on that even before the game started. God help us at Man City and home to Chelsea!
CLOTH EARS Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 If anybody tells me now that we don't need another striker they need to go and have a serious eye check. If Austin gets injured we will be f----d!!! Lots of good football from us with **** all to show for it.
View From The Top Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Why is it so hard for people to understand that Austin was signed because everyone knew Pelle was off so this bull about not buying a striker is just that, bull. The biggest gamble tonight, for me, was playing Jrod ahead of Austin. That just didn't work. Personally I thought JWP had an excellent game (bar the last corner) but Martina just looks like someone who has won a competition to play in a match.
trousers Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 We travelled with 3 forwards none of who were fully fit or match fit We also took Olomola so technically 4 strikers (although, granted, he was highly unlikely to feature)
kermitsaint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Might have won if we hadn't started an out of form jay rod over an in form Austin. Given the game was there for the taking, that is an awful result and a real kick in the teeth for the travelling fans. Very ****ed off. Tbf it was the right choice . The league is more important and I wouldn't risk Austin more than absolutely necessary. I wouldn't have brought him on at all . Long has struggled this season but losing him to injury is a serious blow . Imho I would have brought on Olamola (sp) in place of Long. Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk

doc oli Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Think the plan had been to get j rod in behind their defence as they played a crazy high line that perhaps Charlie wouldn't have been able to exploit. It nearly worked, but for some extreme (and still understandable) rustiness from poor Jay.
Jonnyboy Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Tbf to Jay he was millimetres from scoring a few times and had the ball in the net once too.
SuperSAINT Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Think the plan had been to get j rod in behind their defence as they played a crazy high line that perhaps Charlie wouldn't have been able to exploit. It nearly worked, but for some extreme (and still understandable) rustiness from poor Jay. Yeah, he was very rusty. To be expected, but as you said, he NEARLY got on the end of a couple of chances. Ultimately, the best thing about tonight for him was that he got some minutes. Big blow to lose Shane. Hopefully Redmond's injury isn't major & with Boufal getting some minutes we've got bodies to cover Shane's absence.
striker Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 8th in the PL, and 2ns in our Europa group, even though we have played two out of three on the road. Add to that we were missing three starters, and Austin only played the second half. Overall the team is good and doing fine. Lets get a point or three at City and we'll be great. We will also clearly move on in Europa.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Should still get out of the group but both the finishing and decision making in the final third tonight were way off. Very disappointed with J Rod cutting back onto his right when clean through and losing the ball. Should have just rifled that with his left. If he cant shoot with his left he has no place in our squad. And the short corner at the end - absolutely diabolical.
striker Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Plus we were just killing them near the end of the game. They made some great saves, especially on VVD and Austin's shot.
Dangermouth Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 They were garbage. We were ok too in the 1st half once the nerves had settled. JRod reminds me of when he joined us: a bit tentative. I think he'll be fine but it'll take a few months. JWP was ok first half; used his body well, passed forward. Went into safety mode in 2nd half - wonder if he needs to learn to get a bit more riled like VVD does. Wonder if he might have had a negative effect on the younger players too: SMQ was ok but again he was a little safe at times. Think the ref was very biased. Should have carded at least one of them far, far earlier. I hope they're not too defensive in two weeks' time and we have a couple of players back. Would be good to destroy them: they deserve it. We also want to win the group to get a favourable draw in the next round. Let Sparta get the team that drops down from the CL (unless it's Celtic). Would be tempted to start Olomola next time if we don't have fit forwards: they don't like playing against pace. As for the comment about Sam Gallagher: it's good he's getting minutes in the league below to toughen him up and get the experience of a hard campaign under his belt. I don't think CA is unfit; he can't be really, can he? I just think he's used to playing in a very restricted area and his body has learned that. Now he has to move outside of it and it takes time. Think the disallowed goal should have stood.
Dark Munster Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Let's be honest, with our two best full backs on the pitch, we perhaps could've won that. Martina had a poor game, and it's impossible to blame McQueen. Which game were you watching ? Maybe FC Twente vs. PSV Eindhoven 2 years ago?
jamesfp1 Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 We'd have won that if I'd had chicken for dinner. One of those games.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Just back in hotel after drowning my sorrows. Learning curve tonight . Outplayed them but didn't take our chances . Bang ..the Italians took theirs and then saw out the game. Countless sides have left Italy wondering how they lost after being on the end of a 1-0 and it won't surprise me if they do similar at our place . Tadic good first half , not quite there second . McQueen did well until the last 20 when he started to struggle . JRod just needed the minutes , so can't really blame him . I thought JWP did well , and I'm not a fan normally . At the end of the day , the players gave it their all . Some criticism of JRod ott . VvD missed another sitter tonight , following on from the Israel one , but let's gloss over that and slag a bloke that's working damn hard to get back to somewhere near his best .
trousers Posted 20 October, 2016 Posted 20 October, 2016 Players jumping the queue at Bournemouth Airport....
Pilchards Posted 21 October, 2016 Posted 21 October, 2016 how did boufal look? Quite tidy, his hair was neatly done and he tucks his shirt in. Two things are happening in our games these days: Always one underhit back pass and a players hamstring goes ping. Needs sorting quickly.
Toomer Posted 21 October, 2016 Posted 21 October, 2016 Watched the game on line, we created enough chances which we did not take should have won it.
Batman Posted 21 October, 2016 Posted 21 October, 2016 we will go through be amazed if we dont get at least 4 points from our two home games against Inter and Hapoel. Inter are crap Prague away will be hard as we seem to not be able to score away from home in Europe
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 21 October, 2016 Posted 21 October, 2016 Their goal and the JWP chance in the first half was the difference - pretty much the same chance from a similar position with the same amount of time in front of the same end. Theirs found the postage stamp, JWP was a foot over the bar. There's the difference, right there.
