You need a keeper to pull off a save to keep you in a game when you're under the cosh, also that kind of action can change the teams belief or the momentum of a game. We've seen it with Peretz, Baz is a million miles off. Wrexham at home, big save when 1-0 down. Leicester at home, when 1-0 up Millwall at home, kept it at 0-0 Brum away, I think we were 1-0 down when he pulled off a worldie 1 9

HKsaint Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I said already. We will be stuck with Baz for the next season. We will bring us to where he belongs.

saintant Posted Saturday at 21:55 Posted Saturday at 21:55 (edited) Come on guys...this bloke was outstanding tonight. He was as cool as a cucumber and played a blinder. Praise where praise is due. Or are we just getting a bit blase about him 🙂 Edited Saturday at 21:57 by saintant 5
St Chalet Posted Saturday at 22:05 Posted Saturday at 22:05 As a Saints fan of 40+ years we've been blessed with the likes of Shilton and Niemi. We've been dogged with the likes of a few other that I am classier to name. Peretz has been a breath of fresh air, like Artur Boruc, right time - right keeper. 17

I think he's better than this level and if we don't go up he won't stay, which is fair enough.

benjii Posted Saturday at 23:30 Posted Saturday at 23:30 He's absolutely huge part of this run we're on. Big personality and you can see the defenders trust him. He improves Manning, THB, Bree etc. by being there. 15

Absolutely - I said this before but it shows the value of a decent goalkeeper a) balling them out for mistakes/good play and being vocal and b) the confidence they have knowing they have a goalie more likely to make a save behind them. Fkn paper hands offered neither of those things. 4
Tamesaint Posted Sunday at 06:53 Posted Sunday at 06:53 I have seen the headlines from a parallel universe about last night's game. Baz was in goal and the headlines were how unlucky Saints were to lose 3 2. 2
ally_uk Posted Sunday at 07:57 Posted Sunday at 07:57 Think he is brilliant 👏 should make him a high priority signing in the summer. 1
Lord Duckhunter Posted Sunday at 08:57 Posted Sunday at 08:57 (edited) It’s not just the back 4 he’s imposed himself on, it’s the whole team. The corner at the end summed it up for me, he was into their half shouting at us to keep it in the corner, as it genuinely looked like we were going to cross it into the middle. We actually might well have done as the attempt to hold the ball there lasted all of about 3 seconds 😂, but that’s beside the point. Baz would have stood there ghost like, whilst he’s involved with every aspect of the game. Class act… Edited Sunday at 08:57 by Lord Duckhunter 5

pimpin4rizeal Posted Sunday at 11:28 Posted Sunday at 11:28 Think you could argue he’s been our player of the season even in such a short space of time. The difference it makes having him on goal over bazunu is just mental . All this good run we are having just wouldn’t happen without peretz 2
EFL Saints Posted Sunday at 12:11 Posted Sunday at 12:11 (edited) Happy Easter and congratulations on the Arsenal victory! I've written an article about how recent goalkeeping changes have affected the teams that were significantly underperforming/overperforming their expected goals statistics in the first half of the Championship season. Dropping it in this thread as Daniel Peretz features heavily. https://open.substack.com/pub/jacobpowley/p/the-xg-chickens-are-coming-home-to?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web Hope you enjoy it and please subscribe to the blog if you do - I usually write about the Championship with a bit of extra EFL stuff thrown in. Enjoy the rest of the cup run and fingers crossed it will mean a bit of rotation when my team (Ipswich) come down to St Mary's in a few weeks 😉 Edited Sunday at 12:12 by EFL Saints 1
SaintsBarry74 Posted Tuesday at 22:06 Posted Tuesday at 22:06 Best keeper in the league imo. Feels surreal that he plays for Saints given what we've been used to. 2

Farmer Saint Posted yesterday at 19:31 Posted yesterday at 19:31 Gonna be depressing if we get promoted this season and we can't buy Peretz because Ramsdale is massively overrated and massively overpaid. 2

I think we would be in the PL era. Presumably, bearing in mind the extra predicted income, this would enable our PL war chest to be larger if we were promoted... It's the hope that kills you as a Saints fan... Need to keep reminding myself that most likely we'll get a dodgy ref decision and suffer a crucial defeat somewhere in the playoffs.

Lazio and Lincoln away in the same week? Yes please. 1

Perhaps a bizarre and unlikely prospect, but if Forest win the Europa League, and are relegated they could be competing in both the Champions League and Champiosnhip next season. 1
