Spurs interested in PEH according to SSN

No chance he leaves by the end of tomorrow but surely a big chance of him leaving in the summer as he is clearly looking to run his contract down which pretty much forces a sale this summer.

Also shows the value of not letting the contracts of key players run under two years, as the club loses any small position of strength it held by that point.

Just adds to an already big job in the summer as could lose 2 or 3 key 1st team players as well as needing to ship out the dross thats out on loan and add in the areas we are weak.

Hope Ralph has the enthusiasm for it.

Saints are desperate to sell. No way we will turn up the chance to get rid of one of our most important players with only around a day left in the window. The most annoying thing is that this one is being pushed by Saints, no Spurs, by all accounts. We have instigated this. Doesn't mean it's going to complete but Saints are desperately trying to push it through.

Would be ridiculously stupid to let him go in next 2 days, even by SFC transfer standards.

18 months left on his contract so his value is already falling and will take a big hit in the summer so I can see the temptation with maybe Wanyama returning on loan to fill the void. Not the business I would like to be doing and Id much rather see PEH sign a new contract but that seems unlikely so we will have to cash in the chips at some point,

Really? If true, it would leave us incredibly light in central midfield, where we are already light IMO. This can surely only be because we're starting to believe there's no hope of him ever signing a new deal and we're looking to get rid whilst the highest price is possible.

Summer would make more sense.

This move might also depend on terms of the agreement we have with him that got discussed at the forum before last.

Their interest is for the summer. We now have Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton all putting in a note of interest. And we thought no other top club would want our players.

We don't need to decide on PEH now, that's one for the summer. We seem to have decided Cedric can go (logically) and we have a decision to take over Vesta. Adams is clearly staying put.

Maybe it is Jose playing games as well, knowing we won't sell and that they probably don't want in the first place. We got them coming up in a week, so why not try and destabilise?

Let's hope it backfires and he manages to score with three of his screamers at row A rather than row Z..

Also didn't they just buy a CM and get Lo Celso permanently too? How many options do they need?

Let's just say swap Winks and Wanyama and it's a deal.

Wouldn't be surprised if they sell a couple in the summer, and Lo Celso's more forward-thinking than Hojbjerg.

Be more than happy to let him go in the summer for the quoted £35million as I genuinely don't see what he specialises in, constantly gives the ball away with sloppy passing and lack of awareness, poor tackling, poor shooting...but letting him go now would be nuts.

if he isn't signing a new contract now, then he won't in the summer, thus it would make financial sense to sell him. It's all very well saying you have to keep players, but if you let their contracts run out you then have to spend a shed load of cash to replace them, with no funds generated from a sale to do it. I suspect the fanbase is divided on PES, some would baulk at him getting a new 4 year deal, while others would moan if we sold him. He is not the worst player in the world, but I hope for better.

This will end up as another Clyne/Wanyama situation where soon Ralph will be asked every week if we are any closer on agreeing a new contract.

A contract will never be agreed of course because the player doesn't want to agree one (could you blame him?).

Sale will happen for a very good fee for the buyer due to said contract situation.

I wouldn’t usually believe that sort of theory, but it’s exactly what he did when at Man Utd and we played them early in the season - lots of pre match talk of Fonte going to Utd. Not doubting there are genuine transfer links, but if they’re Spurs are accepting a deal is more likely in the summer, not sure what they’d gain from leaking this now.

Let him go then go for Doucore or Capoue from Watford both better than PEH and score and proven at this level will make them weaker too.

Brief skim through the following posts confirms this is probably your most successful attempt ever.
