Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Lis is maybe the only player I could see moving to Göztepe this season (he is already familiar with Izmir). We of course have some deadwood in this squad but all of them are way above the level of the second tier of Turkey. Should Göztepe get promoted this season then perhaps next summer we could see a few loan moves

Are we expecting some sort of update on Ramos's future tomorrow after their CL qualifier this evening? The Joe Shields instagram like still has me intrigued

I'm expecting Benfica to cruise it into the group stages. If and when they beat Dynamo Kiev tonight either Ramos is going and his price ever higher if he scores again - or he will stay until they get knocked out.  Perversely the best option is if he has a stinker and Benfica get knocked out, but seeing as threy 2-0 from first leg, are at home and kiev are bad traveling i dont see that. .

How about if we loan them so that they get promotion, if our so called deadwood players are too good for that League then it should be a doddle.

Another one...

Nottingham Forest are interested in bringing in Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, according to The Athletic.

Forest want to bring the centre-back in on a permanent deal but are put off by Spurs' £16.8m asking price.

AC Milan, Bournemouth and Napoli are all said to be in for the 23-year-old.

The England U-21 international made 19 appearances for Tottenham last season but has yet to play this term.

Chucking their money about like a drunken sailor.

Presumably they have a plan, but from the outside it looks like the kind of thing that could go horribly wrong.

It is like they have cheated of Football Manager and given themselves loads of extra money

Ok, Forest are officially mental now. They've recruited so many players that a sizeable chunk of the new players will struggle to get game time. Even if Cooper pulls off a miracle and gets them playing early season he's going to have a broken dressing room by Christmas.

Football fans love a busy transfer window/lots of new players to support, but what Forest are doing is beyond the realms of 'busy' to be honest. It’s more akin to a frenzied approach.

If I was a Forest fan I'd be fearing the worst, because other teams have tried this approach before and it didn't work.

It's like going to the casino and putting everything you own on red. If it comes off then you're laughing - or you're living in the street. If it doesn't come off for Forest then I fear administration is their future. Then again if it does it makes our own position this season more "interesting".

What's weird is both Gibbs-White and Lingard take up the same position if they're going to keep the same formation they've been playing with. So, it's a choice between leaving a player on £200k-a-week, or a player signed for a potential £44m on the bench. You'd hope it would spur on, encourage them to put in performances on the pitch when they get their chance, but then neither put up much of a fight at either United, or Wolves when they were benched. It was consistent first team football at both West Ham and Sheffield United where they shone.

Then you have the striker situation. Brennan Johnson's their star man, so he's an automatic starter every week. But, they also signed Awoniyi for £17m and Dennis for £20m. One of them has signed to sit on the bench, which is a bit much for a squad player.

Midfield as well to a lesser extent, £10m on O'Brien, £12m on Mangala, Kouyate on a free who was on £65k a week at Palace and Freuler for £7m. To replace one outgoing midfielder, Garner, after his loan. Who's come in to sit on the Nottingham Forest bench?

I guess it's exciting if you're a fan and they're at least giving it ago. But, it doesn't seem to be very coordinated, a player becomes available, Forest sign them.

Would be a great signing particularly if Jan Bednarek is sold. Can play both in the centre and at right back I think.

I kind of feel like they’ve bought enough really, because the team looks… short term anyway… like they are gelled enough

The real litmus test will be if they have a period of bad form, how do they respond

Its almost certainly a risk though, and there are no way half of these aren’t on some form of relegation clauses though surely?

They have options if certain signings don't work out. Fair play to them for giving staying up a good go.

Let me assure you, Forest fans are absolutely loving this and could not give a fuck about what happened to Fulham. They lost 6 starters in the summer, have replaced them very well and replaced all the players that were not even good enough to get in their side in the championship. For them, the summer window has been absolutely fantastic.

To paraphrase my Forest supporting brother in law: "To be competitive, there was simply no other choice but to recruit a lot of players this summer. The number of signings doesn't matter. Good players gel quickly. All that matters is how good those players are and how they perform over the next year and beyond."

Your brother in law talks sense. All this "gelling " nonsense is exactly that. Forest will be fine this season.

It is and it isn’t

It’s all easy when you’re playing well and winning games, it’ll be a lot different when they have to dig in but overall you sort of think they’ll have more in their armoury then Fulham/Bournemouth

1.  Lingard is on £80k a week, not £200k.

2. Gibbs cost £25m not £44m.

3. Gibbs tends to play as a winger, Lingard in the middle. Gibbs and Lingard both were on the field on Saturday. Even if they played in the same role, can you have too many attacking talents? Wish we had too many ball players behind out strikers.

4. Gibbs was outstanding last season. He also looked damn good when he came on on Saturday. Took the piss out of Everton defenders. Lingard has a lot to play for. A new contract for starters.

5. They have three strikers. Which decent clubs don't have competition up front?

6. They lost Garner and Zinchernagel from their central midfield area and they had sod all behind that. Multiple new CM recruits were desperately needed.

7. Seems pretty coordinated. They signed the best from the championship in Gibbs, Toffolo and Obrien. They signed experienced Prem keeper on loan, which protects their finances if they go down. They signed young pacey talented fullbacks. Championship sides know how good Richards is. To be honest I dont know what  a coordinated approach would look like.

I get the feeling that fans' problem with Forest is based purely on jealousy. Rather than sign 6 first team players and make do with a bench full of league 1 level players, they have bought a bench too. If you were the manager, you would have done exactly the same. Tell me what other choice was there?

Sorry, not sure why I even give a fuck. Lets talk Saints.

I know Chelsea were decent last year, so the law of averages would suggest he would figure in a lot of games where they won,  but I don't think they lost a single Prem game when he played. Not sure that means diddly squat, but as I don't know how good a player he is, its all I've got to add.

At 23 it's a bit #saintsy, but not full on. Think Chelsea want a loan deal for some reason according to reports and I don't think that's our bag unless its a loan to buy.  Can't really remember if he's actually any better than what we have.

On the face of it, they seem to have recruited pretty well. Lots of players with experience of English football. As long as they're not fielding an unusual formation, why wouldn't good players be able to slot into place? It's presumably a financial gamble, but there's nothing that doesn't make sense about recruiting a squad full of decent players to replace a squad full of players you know aren't good enough.

I think he is certainly a good option, played 20 games last year and looked good in most of them

Can play CB and CDM.. can’t see us signing him unless we move a CB on though

Stats look promising, especially in possession and his defensive stats match that of his Chelsea comrades

Bidding war for Bednarek incoming. Apparently we can add Napoli and Roma to Villa and West Ham among his list of suitors.

At this rate Bednarek might sell for more than either Tadic or Hojberg.

I'd love it to be true but if this was really iminent would he be in the team at cambridge.
