Jack Posted Sunday at 12:52 Posted Sunday at 12:52 So sloppy today. Stupid FK to give away by Dibling, they’re always trying to buy that
obelisk Posted Sunday at 12:52 Posted Sunday at 12:52 How the hell Ipswich failed to score there I don't know. Saints don't win a header again. 1
Gloucester Saint Posted Sunday at 12:53 Posted Sunday at 12:53 Just now, Saint86 said: This formation doesn't work. We have wing backs pushing up and 3cbs marking one CF. Everytime they hit a long cross field diagonal and are in behind. Need another CM and RB coming in to deploy Still’s preferred set up.
madge Posted Sunday at 12:54 Posted Sunday at 12:54 Second half has been a complete mess.. totally disjointed and as an attacking force terrible 3
Chez Posted Sunday at 12:54 Posted Sunday at 12:54 Quarshie has gone for and missed far too may headers.
obelisk Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 That's it. Happy enough with 1-1 at the end but Saints showed nothing in attack 2nd half. 3
Saint_clark Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 Good point in the end. What's the record for the longest time a sub spent on the pitch without touching the ball? I honestly don't think Matsuki touched it once.
Saint NL Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 A hard earned point. Would have taken that at the start 2
skintsaint Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 Take that - especially as performance today was very disjointed. 1
Saint86 Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 Decent point all in all. Last time in the champ we'd have lost this and he chasing them all season. As it is we've been to our main rivals away and taken a point... They now need to go to St Mary's and do the same or win, depending on how the table looks. 2
miserableoldgit Posted Sunday at 12:56 Posted Sunday at 12:56 Two wins and a draw away.....without looking convinving 2
Saint Matty 76 Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 Lots still to improve on but a good result Matsuki doesn’t look worthy of a place in the squad. Charles is very impressive but other than spells by Fraser/Robinson not a whole load else to shout about Quarshie doesn’t fill me with confidence whatsoever, interesting to see if in a more favourable fixture next week we finally go into a back 4 1
sockeye Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 Full-time. Played ugly at times but that is a very valuable point away against one of the strongest teams in the league. Two years ago we would have lost this one I feel. We badly need reinforcements and coaching to sort out our incredibly raw defense. 1
Whitey Grandad Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 3 minutes ago, Gloucester Saint said: Need another CM and RB coming in to deploy Still’s preferred set up. So we can play 6 at the back? 1
Baird of the land Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 Saints really looked very toothless. Happy with a point
ally_uk Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 I said in my head before we kicked off I'd take a draw. Squad obviously needs a hell of alot of work.
obelisk Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 If commentators are still calling Saints "resilient" at the end of the season then that should be good news. 1
benjii Posted Sunday at 12:57 Posted Sunday at 12:57 Really terrible second half. Proper shit. We need to sort out our defensive positioning, get a proper holding midfielder, get a decent creative player and get a proper striker fit. 1
macca155 Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 Fair result, they'll be pace setters and most will lose points at Portman Rd. Saints went toe to toe and could have won that. Boy that defence needs work. 3
SouSaint Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 Take a point but we will be nowhere near the title race if we're going to be so shite defensively.
Toussaint Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 We seemed as sluggish and lacked creativity. Not a bad result but we need the players who are going gone and some fresh blood. Matty and Tyler, not sure their hearts are in it.
die Mannyschaft Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 1 minute ago, Colinjb said: Calling that a very decent away point. Settle for point, Ipswich should have won by 4 or 5. We are no where near a team to secure top 2. 2 games won by luck so take that. 7
Jimmy_D Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 Not a terrible result away from home. Good to see Dibling on the pitch. 1
John Boy Saint Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 About right - if you take the Red and White specs off for a moment
AlexLaw76 Posted Sunday at 12:58 Posted Sunday at 12:58 FT 1-1 Good result away to one of the big boys. Thought we were pretty ugly and a shithouse team at times Defended set pieces really well, generally, but looked open at the back at times. Fraser good, Robinson good, Downes all over the pitch, Stephens generally good, and Bazunu was spot ton. Quarshie though, feck me. If he (and early showing of Downs) is the standard we are signing, we aint going up - no way. Clearly need proper wide players as 3 at the back remains fucking shite. As for Still's 'flexibility' - yet to see it. Constantly hoofing the ball up to strikers not suited to it is pretty crap. Not buying that there is no possible other way to play the game with what we have at the moment.
StrangelyBrown Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 Good point away against one of our rivals. Shit defending and a lack of cutting edge from us, but some real positives too. Flynn and Shea look really good. Robinson again looked exciting. I'd like to see Manning start ahead of wellington and Arma looks lost so we need someone else up top.
egg Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 If we're being honest, we'd all have taken a point away to Ipswich before kick off. Loads to improve on though. 4
OttawaSaint Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 Saw the last 35 minutes. We didn't do much at all. Seem sloppy on the ball and unsure what to do with it. Will take the point but we need to be much much better than that showing.
die Mannyschaft Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 1 minute ago, Whitey Grandad said: So we can play 6 at the back? 11 at back and we would still give goals away. 1
Hawkswood Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 Wasn't great but obviously take that. Both squads aren't settled yet and Still still hasn't got the squad that he needs to implement his style of playing. Stephens MoM for us ? Hard to pick one. I really wish Baz would come for some of those deep crosses, his lack of doing so makes our defending more nervy than it needs to be. Willing to give Quarshie a bit of a pass as still getting used to a new league but his decision making......wow. Passing also a bit dodge but as I say neither team has started to hit there stride yet. Tough away game so happy with a point. 1 1
CylonKing Posted Sunday at 12:59 Posted Sunday at 12:59 Ipswich Down Non-Football club. Not enough quality from Saints today. Looked like a standard Championship side, very disappointing. Some very dodgy haircuts in the Ipswich team as well, Tractor boys indeed.

qwertyell Posted Sunday at 13:00 Posted Sunday at 13:00 Take the point. We look a long way from being a good side even at this level. Ipswich aren't in much better shape to be fair. But an unbeaten start for the manager with a disjointed, unbalanced squad in flux is something to build on. 1
Gloucester Saint Posted Sunday at 13:00 Posted Sunday at 13:00 2 minutes ago, Whitey Grandad said: So we can play 6 at the back? We are conceding the midfield a lot. From his comments, my impression is that because we are short of signings he needs in 2-3 positions at least that this is backstop option. 1
Katalinic Posted Sunday at 13:00 Posted Sunday at 13:00 Feels like a point gained. Really sloppy at times. Never felt in control in that second half.

bugenhagen Posted Sunday at 13:01 Posted Sunday at 13:01 Take the point. Today, every sub made us weaker unfortunatly...
AlexLaw76 Posted Sunday at 13:01 Posted Sunday at 13:01 Just now, Sir Ralph said: I don’t recall Ipswich having a decent chance either, other than at the end with the header. they also hit the post, Hirst fluffed a good chance after getting past all our defenders

If not for baz being quick out of his box, we'd have lost that to another spectacular Stephens calamity. Edited Sunday at 13:05 by Saint86 4
James Posted Sunday at 13:02 Posted Sunday at 13:02 Happy enough with that. Squad obviously won’t look like this by September so to avoid a defeat away against a promotion rival is a good result. Like what I’ve seen of Still so far. 2
Midfield_General Posted Sunday at 13:03 Posted Sunday at 13:03 So who still thinks that Armstrong, Archer and BBD are really good attacking options to rely on at this level? @Matthew Le God I think you were telling us they’d be really good because they’ve all scored goals in the championship before? 5
imadirtyurchin Posted Sunday at 13:03 Posted Sunday at 13:03 I missed the first half hour. And therefore missed anything of quality that saints did in that game it seems. I don’t think I saw more than 4 successful passes to our own side in a row. We were competitive but that’s about it. The deficiencies in the team are obvious. No out ball available at all. Everytime we went forward it came straight back - which is frustrating when it seems like Stills tactics are to go long and direct often. Which just seemed to break straight down. Archer was terrible. Armstrong tried hard but wasn’t good. think quashie will come good despite the hammering he got today. For example harqood bellis looked ropey today and he’s an experienced championship defender. but bit concerning that we haven’t had a convincing performance yet under Still.
sfc4prem Posted Sunday at 13:03 Posted Sunday at 13:03 Take the point. Decent but also a bit disjointed and toothless at times. Squad still getting used to Still and playing again after the summer break.

Quarshie pushed him wide and baz got down to cover most, if not all, of the goal - will have to see on replays whether baz would have got it had it been a bit further in and on target. Baz did bail Jack out in that instance though. Edited Sunday at 13:04 by Gloucester Saint 1
saintant Posted Sunday at 13:04 Posted Sunday at 13:04 Decent enough point after gifting them a goal. Some good moments but still far too many mistakes and we continually give the ball away and give away cheap free-kicks. Robinson was very good as was Wee Man. The rest not so. Manning again looked solid when he came on so would prefer him to Wellington. Quarshie still looks like an accident waiting to happen - doubt we'll have to wait long. Need to get to September and see what we've got - need that creativity in midfield for sure. 2
