Absolutely amazing news this, Peretz is top draw 😊 this is a big statement of intent from us. Dragan is certainly backing us big time. Hopefully we can also tie up a deal for Larin and contract extensions for Bree and Stewart.

If he does sign you just wonder how many players will or have adopted the "let's put this right" mindset for next season.

I expect 2 or 3 will go but if they are replaced and the siege mentality spreads through the squad as well it could all turn out ok......fingers crossed.

The thing I like about that is that you can see him calling for the ball and defenders leaving it for him.

Absolutely, and we need to build down the spine. Peretz and Larin would be a superb start, and may influence one or two of the players mulling over a departure. Peretz, the best keeper in the division, would be clearest message are going for a serious auto push!

Sorry but how many times have we seen this over the years? Saints putting things out there and not delivering. Personally I'm plannimg for Bazunu and then anything that happes means I'm not disappointed

The difference now is that for the first time in years we have a manager who players want to play for. With a different manager, I doubt that Peretz would have wanted to stay.

Guessing Ramsdale isn't too keen on a full season in the Championship then, probably off to sit on the bench again in the PL.

I know AR is on @£80k a week but still cheaper option than buying Peretz. Happy with either btw.

Fingers crossed on this one, a keystone signing who may sway other players to stick with it for another go at promotion.

It's going to be a much tougher league next year, Peretz would be a huge asset.

Coventry, Ipswich and Hull could probably all do with a keeper. Our best bet is one of them offering up £15m.

Only other non-promoted team who are uncertain at the position are probably Leeds. Maybe Chelsea/Spurs at a push.

Just hoping we can actually cash in on ramsdale this time rather than being stuck with another loan.

Wasn't Gakpo going to join us to be Ralph's striker?

That stated, how many premier league clubs are in the search for a goalkeeper? There's also clubs that may be concerned about his nationality. We'll certainly make him feel welcome. Make it happen SR.

Um, not that many times?

If anything we do the opposite and hardly ever say anything or "put things out there" about incoming transfers.

I think I'd rather this "advanced" talks hadn't been leaked, got everyone's hopes up, let's just have an unveiling photo of him signing that contract

Not looked at the numbers being talked about for Peretz, but at 8m on a 4yr contract he could be paid 40k per week and under the SCR he would be cheaper than having ramsdale on the books at 80k per week before accounting for AR ammortisation from when we signed him.

Signing Peretz on a permanent deal after everything that's happened may be the least Sants-y thing I've seen us do in decades.

If we really are going to sign Peretz on a permanent basis, I will fly over to wherever he lives, pick him up, drive him to the airport, fly over with him in the plane, and then drive him to Southampton myself.

Then I'll fly back here to the US and bring Gavin Bazunu with me. Our local girl's elementary school needs a new keeper, and he'd probably do alright for their under 9's to be fair.

Why do people still people still feel the need to put the boot into Bazunu? Get over it, he’s unlikely to ever play for us again.

While he is still contracted to us, it's best not to take any chances.

Lets just all be happy that if Peretz does sign we'll never have to see f**king crisp packet wrists in goal for us again. 63% save record this season makes him statistically the worst keeper in the league. I had hoped we'd already seen the last of him when he went on loan. Sadly he's let in some absolute stinkers for them, so now their fans think he's crap too and I doubt they'll make it a permanent transfer. Best case, I reckon we can offload him for half what we paid for him but it'll probably be another loan.

Getting our hopes up and then it falling through at the 11th hour would be the most Saints-y thing ever.

Interesting debate with my son . Who would you prefer in goal ? Petetz or Ramsdale? 

For me it has go be Daniel. It is an  academic point but I think that he would not have allowed the defence to have been as poor as it was under Martin. More of a presence than Ramsdale he is a great organiser.

He is, but, it also highlights how bad Baz is. The fact keeper who cost half as much, hadn’t  played much two years before he came in and immediately improved us massively is an embarrassment to anyone who thought Baz was the answer
