sockeye Posted Monday at 14:35 Posted Monday at 14:35 Looking forward to the Super Mario style announcement video.

This news has really cheered me up. 100%. A proper heavy weight signing for a championship club, and one only we could make in this league IMO (given his history with us). 2

saintstowin Posted Monday at 14:40 Posted Monday at 14:40 I'm happy with this. A rare all things Saints feeling.
SambaMaverick Posted Monday at 14:41 Posted Monday at 14:41 (edited) Great news, let's hope he's been staying sharp. Should've been in the building as soon as he left Girona Edited Monday at 14:42 by SambaMaverick 5
jasonbenali Posted Monday at 14:44 Posted Monday at 14:44 Was not expecting that but makes sense with Charles' injury and the general lack of leadership. I'm not expecting much at 34 and not having played all season and with our luck fear he'll be out for 6 months in his first game back, but it's the hope that kills you! 1 1
Wsaint Posted Monday at 14:47 Posted Monday at 14:47 In for the derby, someone's getting KO'd. Love this. 5

Not 100% sure how I feel about that one, but it's something that is 100% on the table. Just need to see if the finances work, as we'd need WHU to subsidise a hell of a lot. 4
BARCELONASAINT Posted Monday at 14:48 Posted Monday at 14:48 Wow just wow, i never ever thought he would return having obviously followed him in Spain. I love the guy, he's a great character and a leader and exactly what i have been saying that we have been lacking. I hope his legs are up to it, i'm very conscious that the Spanish league and the English league are very different, with the English leagues being very much quicker and robust. Just the lift we all need if he's in the building. , 4

I would 100% take Prowsey back and he would make an instant improvement to our side. 2
trousers Posted Monday at 14:50 Posted Monday at 14:50 (edited) Get in! Was advocating this in the summer 👍🏻 Why has it taken so long for Sport Republic to wake up FFS?! Edited Monday at 14:51 by trousers 1
Suhari Posted Monday at 14:51 Posted Monday at 14:51 Fuck me, this is the best bit of Saints news in ages. Bring some discipline, leadership and 'hard truths' to the dressing room. Pleased. 2

Weston Saint Posted Monday at 14:56 Posted Monday at 14:56 Subject to medical today/tomorrow. Deal to end of season with additional year option. Also subject to usual clearance. 6
hypochondriac Posted Monday at 14:56 Posted Monday at 14:56 Romeu Jander Fellows jwp Scienza Oyekunle Would be miles better than anything we've played recently. Fingers crossed they get that done in Jan. 3

bpsaint Posted Monday at 14:58 Posted Monday at 14:58 Mental, didn’t see this coming. If SR are open to getting a free agent in the door then there’s a few strikers out there that have to be worth a punt for a year. 3
sockeye Posted Monday at 15:00 Posted Monday at 15:00 If Romeu is basicially confirmed and JWP is reasonably likely, you have to think SR are confident they can ship a couple of MFs out. Aribo and Matsuki perhaps?

We wouldn't be able to get JWP for another two months anyway and Charles should be back then, so I can't see us putting that team out, even if Prowsey did come back. I've no idea why people keep advocating for Oyekunle, who's never played senior football before, over Armstrong who has been a regular Championship scorer throughout his career. The former isn't even a target man, he's 5'9". 2
Saint Scott Posted Monday at 15:09 Posted Monday at 15:09 Love this. A leader we desperately need at the moment! 1

malcolm waldron Posted Monday at 15:12 Posted Monday at 15:12 My sources tell me that this was actually confirmed last night and Oriel had his first training session today. When the session was over allegedly he invited Flynn Downes, THB and Manning to stay behind in the changing room with the door shut for a quiet word. Unconfirmed as yet but allegedly shortly after an ambulance had to be called to Staplewood to treat a 26 year old cockney and a 23 year old northern primadonna. Reports that a 29 year old 'irishman" was last seen scrambling over the fence and heading towards Dibden have also yet to be confirmed. 1 22
DT Posted Monday at 15:12 Posted Monday at 15:12 Great news. Romeu will still be streets ahead in quality of everything we have. Grooming also for a future coaching role? 2
Hatch Posted Monday at 15:13 Posted Monday at 15:13 probably get so pissed off with the useless shits surrounding him, he will get sent off and an immediate three game ban 2
lumuah Posted Monday at 15:14 Posted Monday at 15:14 Does make you wonder if they are getting the old band back together.... 1

With Ralph crying on his knees on the touchline whilst fist pumping the home fans. I haven't asked for much from SR... 2
LuckyNumber7 Posted Monday at 15:26 Posted Monday at 15:26 Wow, first time I've smiled at anything Saints related in forever! Just what we need on and off the pitch. Just hope his legs are still up to it, but his leadership alone makes this a cracking signing. Very happy 2
the colonel Posted Monday at 15:27 Posted Monday at 15:27 He never should have been sold in the first place. We haven't been the same since he left. Bring it on. Welcome home Oriol. 3

We should have been able to fight for promotion with Jander, Charles, Aribo and Downes fighting over two places in a 4-2-3-1, with Edwards able to play there if needed. JWP I though would be unlikely to drop down a league anyway and I still think somewhere like Leeds or Burnley is a more likely destination than us. I think the reason OR is coming back is 70% dressing room and 30% Charles being injured.
Osvaldorama Posted Monday at 15:29 Posted Monday at 15:29 MY KING The best news ever. Hopefully he smashes a few people up behind the scenes 1 1
Pamplemousse Posted Monday at 15:30 Posted Monday at 15:30 The dressing room culture needs to fundamentally change; Romeu will help address that. 3
davefizzy14 Posted Monday at 15:30 Posted Monday at 15:30 This is absolutely amazing news. Just what we needed. Welcome home Ori 😊 added leadership and strength in midfield. 1
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted Monday at 15:38 Posted Monday at 15:38 Should be exactly what's needed. I said at the start of the season that we should have offered him a short term deal so I'm delighted with this news. Just need a striker with a bit of experience now. Oh, and a manager that isn't Russell Martin or Tonda Eckert. 1
Chris cooper Posted Monday at 15:39 Posted Monday at 15:39 We now have a leader .. whoever is public relations this is a master stroke ! welcome home oriol!

I had a rare bout of optimism at the end of this seasons Transfer deadline only to fall into an even deeper depression after the new signings (apart from Scienza!!) have made precious little improvement to the team. I just hope that Oriol's return makes a difference. He is a very decent bloke off the field but a Jimmy Case/Alan Ball type competitor on the pitch. I just hope he still has the legs for the full on challenge of games in the Championship. 2
