Even a remotely competent start to the season would have put Saints well in control of this division. A great turnaround though.

I love him. He’s got real quality to unlock a defence he’s not going to do it every game but since the first time I saw him live at Hull could see what a player he was. The team was shit and most people said he was too but he was busy, trying to make things happen and you could see he had a touch of class about him

i think because he’s not an obvious player, by that I mean doesn’t have great pace, power or dribbling, so doesn’t get people out of their seats like Scienza does he can go unnoticed but he’s always there to recieve a pass, links play, good range of passing etc. really good signing

He looked totally lost earlier in the season, and the "goes missing" comments from boro fans seemed to fit. But once Still was binned, and he was played in the right position by tonda, his work rate increased a lot and his impact on the game matched it.

That equally applies to Stewart

If he can stay fit, he's got to go.

Outstanding. That was a great night, support in excellent voice throughout.

When we do eventually lose, I don’t know if I’ll be more upset about the defeat or the end of Turkish’s posts 😂

Fantastic win tonight, I really thought this was going to be tight but in the end Wrexham were blown away.

We are really starting to breathe down the necks of Ipswich, Millwall and Boro now. They will be feeling the pressure, let's see how they deal with it.

GD was really boosted too, that could be crucial at the end.

Ipswich's next game is Norwich (a) - v.tough derby -and they have us and Boro I think.

If we could pull level most would back us to get it done.

Wow, I can't quite believe we're watching the same team as a few months ago. Players and management deserve all the credit they're getting. Would have been easy to let levels drop tonight after the Arsenal game but not a hint. Simply outstanding.

Shout out to the away fans too, heard loud and clear throughout.

COYR!

Finn Azaz take a bow. Class performance.

A 5-1 win and we looked like we had another gear.

Another tactical masterclass from Tonda - and enjoyable to watch!

For once being a Saint is an absolute joy.

The next game we’re losing is going to be an away friendly against FC Köln.

Don’t bank on it.

Azaz absolutely superb tonight. At various times he reminded me of Lallana in his pomp; a different player as Lallana was more tricky but Finn’s quality with his feet in undeniable and he reminded me of Lallana’s style tonight. Just comfortable to get the ball at his feet and take a few touches while looking for a killer pass.

Statement performance after statement performance.

Tonda's approach to his squad gives us match ready strength in depth.

That was a real team display. The rough bits that some players have, supported and covered by others, allowing strengths to shine through.

Manning and Bree did so many good things supporting Matsuki and Edozie. Edozie is attack minded, while Matsuki was being asked to work in a lot of areas (which is one reason he gets a nod over the also good Fellows)

Not or being able to get 90 minutes from either Larin or Stewart ends up working well, while they're both fit. Larin was a busy, focal point. Not everything worked, but a real outlet most of the time. He grew into the game. Stewart just looks sharp up front. Always a threat.

Stephens was quietly getting on with things, allowing THB to stand out. Likewise Flynn was excellent, allowing Charles good moments in space. Everyone supporting each other's play.

A great result in a crunch fixture. A league position, I didn't think we'd see.

spot on. I half expected that to be honest, but like you said not a hint. The squad depth really helps: Scienza/Fellows/Matsuki, Charles/Jander/Downes, Stewart/Larin

Wow, just wow. I am still finding this hard to believe, but we are pretty good at this football now! Looking forward to the rest of the season… shame it is nearly all over!

wants the ball all the time...we have a couple like that in Scienza and Charles and that makes a big difference.

It was great watching FAWA stream, with the commentary complaining about Saints players time wasting and the like!

Although they did think it was a penalty with a foul on Edozie. Didn’t replay the incident so couldn’t tell.

Great result that, to think most of us would have been happy with a win.

Why oh why did the two skate games coincide with our shit runs of form. Would love to be playing them this month.

Excellent second half performance - top game management from Tonda - when we could have quite easily folded under their thuggish onslaught and a right dodgy Ref. Away support was exceptionally good given the lower numbers I thought.

Azaz grew, thankfully, in the game. Edozie was somewhat ineffectual to be honest, but didn’t do a lot wrong as such. Larin is an odd one - one minute he’s doing fuck all and the next he’s doing something great. Thought Charles and Downes started to tire mid-second half and needed a change - as it happens it didn’t really matter.

Very happy with that result however there’s so much more to do now to consolidate on that to start attacking the 2nd-5th or even holding on to 6th. Nobodies giving up the chase just yet.

Thought Welington did really well when he came on too. Offers something different to Manning in the sense he can carry the ball up the line and relieve some pressure.

if we win the fa cup and get promoted I will have to come to terms with the fact I’m currently in a coma imagining all of this.

Have to admit I didn't rate it massively highly at the time, but the January transfer window is starting to turn out to be one of the most successful I can remember for Saints.

I counted around a dozen empty seats around me in the ground.

Very disappointing considering this was the most in demand fixture of the year. Club need to sort this out.

If Ipswich win their game in hand they will be 9 points ahead with a much better GD.

Not a chance we are making that up in 6 games.

And their game in hand...?

Portsmouth at Fratton 😆
