Not sure if Tino is having a poor game or just not up to his usual standards. He's been caught out of position a couple of times and some poor deliveries.

his positional play ain't all that to be honest. Ball watches a bit too. A bit to learn there if he is gonna stay a fullback. Delivery on the other hand he's normally very good.

Those last 2 El Ghazi incidents the commentator had said the ref had gone to his pocket and then seen it was El Ghazi. Where was this when a young lad got a bit overexcited with his first tackle at OT a fully stretched Betrand in the pouring rain, or Bednarek trying to get out of the way etc

I'm at the game. Is it just more or have we had a ridiculous amount of corners we have done nothing with?

Goalie caught two or three (he has been decent for them to be fair).

Wouldn't mind a few more short ones personally.

Yes we’ve looked great but at this level we really shouldn’t be in a position where our ‘fit’ left back can’t get in the team ahead of a right back. Is he really that bad?

No, he's not. He's put in good performances - this is just a symptom of needing to keep KWP happy so he doesn't demand a transfer.

El Ghazi shouldn't be on the pitch after 2 fouls and a dive imo.

Lovely goal by Adam Armstrong. Disappointing for all our domination we've created very few chances. I'd love us to get the second as right now if feels like we are slightly fragile defensively.

As good as Stu Armstrong was last season he's been poor today. Hopefully we can tella on for him. We need to start trying to target their left side more where el ghazi is on a booking and targett is weak.

No, he's not that bad. It's just that (Wolves match aside) KWP has put in some excellent performances at LB and deserve his place in the side.

Fucking shite refereeing. Cunts.

Yep. Second yellow offence you can argue he’s bottled it which shouldn’t happen but does. Then it’s either a foul by JWP and a pen or El Ghazi is a fucking diving cheat and a yellow for simulation. No penalty then Andy Madeley so he has to go. That’s where it goes from a mistake to something potentially more dangerous. D’Urso levels of incompetence and banished to League 2 for a month - best case scenario.

I know it was the Itchen and Chapel corner but the fans were too passive there which lets the referee off.

Really frustrating half. Instead of attacking their weak link Targett with our best attacker Livramento, we've focused almost exclusively down the other side, where Walker-Peters' short comings as an out of position right back have scuppered every promising move.

Coupled with Ward-Prowse delivering a disaster class of corner taking, the fact Villa should be down to 10 men, and the inevitability of our hopeless attempts at passing the ball around at the back costing us a goal eventually, you can't help but feel we're going to pay, again, by not putting the game to bed when we're on top.

Apart from that, nice to be 1-0 up...

he ain't been that good really. Personally, I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw before we signed him. Thought he was OK, but no more than that. He's played to the level I thought he was, kind of `OK'. Plenty of time for him to develop though. KWP is far better on the right than left, but better option on left at present.

Played some good stuff and should have created/scored more. Great goal from Adam, hope it gets him going now. Time for JWP to give someone else a go on corners. Not a fan of the Salisu long throw - watch us score from one in the second half. Would like to see Broja early in the second half....he'll scare these shitless.

Nakamba was rolling around holding his face as well. Trying to con the ref into a penalty. VAR should look at those things and they should get yellows for cheating.

fuck yellows. five game bans stops it right there. No manager would put up with it from a player. It would disappear from the game overnight.

Our final ball and Salisu's insane back passing have been the only blemishes on this performance so far.

And not all of our final ball has been bad - AA scored an awesome goal, and Martinez had to make a stunning save from JWP.

Che has had an excellent half, Moi has looked really good, Stu's looking back to near his best, McCarthy has been solid and saved Salisu's ass, Romeu has been good in defence and attack, JWP's corners haven't been great but he's been really good in open play, KWP has done wonders to get in so much space so often but hasn't made enough from it, Tino should have won us a game against 10 men (Ref has been as bad as Villa) and provided my favourite moment of the half aside from the goal when appeared on the left wing and showed KWP how to make use of the space..

I am LOVING seeing such a positive attacking and accomplished performance from our boys. Obviously disappointed not to be 3 or 4 up, and playing against 10 men, but the positives easily outweigh the negatives.

I expect Villa to be better second half - could they be worse? - but we've still got Broja up our sleeve..
